I’m a live in nanny and the parents are fully involved when they are around, but it is hard because I spend more time with the kids then they do, so the kids will often want me, or come to me with things they need in my off hours instead of their parents. I love them to death, and it’s a lot of work but the hardest part of my job is that so many people don’t realize how hard it is to care for a full family that is not your own and often make comments about it not being a real job.

Mega Video, Agnes!
@AgnesFoxvlogs8 жыл бұрын

I love this. I hear so many au pairs saying "I have to cook, wash the dishes, wash the lanudry.. I'm not a maid!". Here you proved how much an au pair is actually required to do, which is something that should be expected given that you are given food, a room and oftentimes bathroom to yourself, free internet, pocket money, time off at night and during the weekends, sometimes a sim card/phone. Of course you have to do some nanny and housewife chores!!

I don't think is that hard, I mean, the family pays everything for you, they give you house, food and they pay you monthly. You just gotta do the things you would normally do in your family. Making bed, wash dishes and do general housework it's not impossible. You get to learn a new language, travel to a new country and meet new people. I think it's quite fair.
@AgnesFoxvlogs7 жыл бұрын
Greys Concepcion the intention of this video is not to make the aupair life look "hard" but show that the vast majority of my day is spent with the kids and that's a bit more than playing with children here and there and that the needs of a hostfamily always come first but of course you get a lot in return. I do think it's one of the cheapest and fun ways to go abroad for a year!:)

Oh God you're wrong hahaha It can get really hard and fucked up. Kids can be awful, parents also! I was lucky to get both pretty good, but some of my friends had huge problems with kids and their parents were even worse!

It looks easy and just normal life.. but once you experience it yourself you know it's not easy at all. It's hard being in other culture, language and being not in your own family and you have no idea who you will talk to when you are so far away from home and your best friend. Well.. it's worthy, if you want to experience something different and learn.. about many things in this life. But, again it's not easy being an aupair

Grey I just came home from being an au pair for a year in the U.S and apparently all my friends thought I had to do was play with kids. Didn’t even know I make their lunch and dinner, laundry, diapers even, beds etc. Think this video was showing it’s not just games. Plus it’s hard HARD work. I’ve had a breakdown while working more than once because either the kids are being awful or the mum is and I would literally cry. Had 4 kids (7,5,2 and a baby was born while I was there) it was exhausting work I never stopped. Unless you actually do it you’ll never know. That’s why I love the au pair community. We are the only ones that actually understand

I was an au pair from 2011 to 2013, at the time it was challenging and I would be so frustrated cos my host kids were special needs and one had aspergers. But the way my life is now, I miss those days so much. I had a life, I had privacy and freedom and didn't need to answer to anything. At 33 I'm still stuck at home with a controlling father because well things just didn't turn out how I thought 🙁

A Friendly tip from a Nanny! You should always help assist and supervise when buckling a child in their seat. And a Care Seat/Booster Seat should never be in the middle for Safety Reasons! (the child could hit the front wind shield or go flying through the front wind shield in a Car Accident.

I minded 2 Irish boys, 8 and 4 yo. When I arrived they would scream the house down, fight for every little reason or no reason at all, hit each other, and orher stuff. One fundamental thing that their mom told me was that she allowed me to put the kids in time out if it was necessary and use the same rules that she did... after a few month I managed to teach them to ask nicely for things (I wouldn't move until they said please😅) , not scream but rather just talk... it took a few time out but it worked.

Hi Agnes i just sing up to be an au pair and im really scared but actually im not available until october 2017 but still i have alot of questions. i though that to be able to be an au pair you had to encore yourself in a college so you can study and work. also did you had vacations at all?
