Renée, you can see that your little one is an old soul just by looking at her eyes and hearing her voice. She may be the younger on your boat but probably the wiser. What a great gift you give yourself to experience a life like this one. We have 3 boys and have lived on 4 continents. The boat life we have not experienced as a family and I am grateful to see how it could have been through your videos. I am sure your kids will all do great in life. Thank you Kate for sharing a little part of your life with us.

Well as a 56 yr old mom, I find it refreshing to see you (Kate), a beautiful young woman, not trying to be the center of attention and and flaunting yourself trying to get your face in front of the camera all the time ! In a world full of self centeredness, inflated egos, attention seeking and conceited behavior, Your modesty, confidence and self respect do not go unnoticed, I admire that about you ! You are so much like your momma, which is a beautiful trait to have ❤ Thanks for sharing! Blessings

I've been a critic of home schooling in the past, because I didn't think that some parents were qualified to be teachers and that their kids wouldn't be able to compete once they graduated. But hearing Kate and Renee describe their home schooling, I've sort of changed my mind. I think that kids like Anna who want to go on to college probably learn better because they have to do additional courses on their own and their motivation is there. They aren't just learning to please a teacher. Otherwise, the things that Renee is teaching her kids are actual life skills that they can use. If they want literature or history or something else, they can learn it on their own, which is the best way to learn. So, I've changed my mind on home schooling. Congrats to Kate on her graduation!!

Hey Kate, You can get into college without SAT's. A Transfer Agreement can be obtained at community colleges that have agreements with universities. You sign up for it with an enrollment counselor and then complete community college course work: 1) For an AA or AS degree or 2) Transferable lower division general education courses and some elective you like. This way you only have to pay 2 years of college fees.

I know she wants to go to college but I’d rather her experience a little more life first and perhaps go into the family business but she’s not interested in that. Kudos to René to telling it like it is, regarding home schooling. Not having the same high school credits and being able to go to university is a very important reality check. Kate, the good news is, you can’t fail an SAT test. You can get a real low percentile but you can’t fail it. Some school somewhere will always admit a low SAT and many these days don’t even require it. If you do consider college, consider several global online courses. Plenty of universities that have online degrees.

Thank you, Kate. Great video. I know that your mom was kind of protective of your online presence earlier, and I don't blame her. You most certainly are growing into a fine young lady, and I'd say that you have more on the ball than 99.44% of the rest of the girls your age back in the States. I did enjoy watching this, and I liked your Surfshark shark. You need to pitch that to SurfShark as an idea for them, if you haven't already. 😃😁 Renee, I'd like to comment somewhat on your home schooling. Obviously, I don't know all the details, but you did make some comments about literature, and the apparent lack of it. I really would encourage reading of some of the older American classics, especially the ones that have been removed from most school libraries, i.e., Mark Twain's stuff, things like Orwell and Vonnegut, as well as others. Here in the States, things are getting weirder ever day, and we are most certainly moving towards a dystopian society, and the kids should have the opportunity to read and understand what was written in the past and how it seems to apply to what's going on today. What kind of history are you teaching? The old adage of those who forget (or do not know) history are bound to repeat it comes to mind. Your kid have proven to be 'above average' in the ''smarts' department, but then again, I look at what we have here in their age group, and it isn't hard to be 'above average' since that average has markedly declined. Anyway, great video all around, I truly enjoyed it. Safe journey on your trip to the Canaries and then across the Atlantic.

I'll be encouraging my children, boy and a girl, to really deeply consider trade school or apprenticeships as well. College is one of those things that is just not necessary for high earning jobs, the only catch is you need to pick something your good at and really work for it. Life gives out exactly what you put in.

This was a good idea Kate -- and very generous of you, letting us get to know you a little better. The life of you kids onboard really inspires me. I often think about what it must be like for you perhaps because I have a daughter only a few years older. In Sydney us four kids (3 boys and one girl) raced little boats called MANLY JUNIORS on Sundays all over the massive Sydney Harbour. On Saturdays I would crew on my dad's 31 foot racer but I was too young to sail in the Sydney to Hobart when he did. Anyway you kids do way exciting stuff. My daughter also feels she is not ready for college just yet, or maybe ever. There are some valid reasons not to do it if you don't want to and the challenge can be to find something you DO want to do or learn. Best of luck to you and everyone else. Greetings from Auckland.

My wife and I were so impressed with Kate (the whole family really) when we met her at the Miami Boat show in 2020. She was so outgoing, friendly, and a joy to be around. It has been great watching her grow into a remarkable young lady.

Kate, great job on the video. You have a great voice for public speaking and a natural in front of the camera or with a camera. With pod casts, voice overs and audio books so popular in the world possibilities are endless. I just want to suggest to you and all your siblings. Don't pick just one vocation, be flexible, know several ways to earn or grow $$, I told my kids this and the world did change a lot in their life so they have shared it with their kids. In a everchanging world we all need to be flexible. Bless you, and I'm very proud of the young lady you have become. From Great Gramma of a 9 great grandnkids Vicki 💌

I loved this, Kate! 🥰 Thanks for showing us a day in your life! I've been wanting to see more of what you were drawing for like years now. I didn't know you had an Instagram for it, so I went ahead and followed there 😊.

Really enjoyed it, I was curious to see your POV on the Zatara adventure. And wow, been following you guys since day one more or less on the sea, still remember young tiny-miny Kate and gosh, you'rea girl now! Feels weird like I'm familiar with you, and we've never met. Modern times I guess. But thank you kate, it was a precious 18 minutes.

About time kind Kate shows us her youtube talents!!🎉We truly enjoyed you video Kate! Our homescooled 15.5year old son has had a sweet crush on you since we found Sailing Zatara July'22. Just to realise we missed your time in Cape Town.😢My son really enjoy your brother's videos as well. He even tried to grow and cut his hair like Finn's hair. It was "Mom, please cut my hair like Finn's Mom cuts his hair."😃 Unfortunately I am not as talented as your Mom.🤦🏼‍♀️ Hairdresser was the answer. Looking forward to more of your video creations Kate.🤗💞
