What qualifications did you need?
@genderfluidbean21273 жыл бұрын
Im not sure about marine life, but i am currently doing research to become a zookeeper, and for that you need a bachelors degree in zoology along with something about wildlife behavior. Im still learning but hopefully something like this helped. Maybe for marine life, you need to know marine biology like i have to know zoology or something like that

Hey Nina!! I’m a freshman at high school and I’m looking to major in biology going into college! What classes do you recommend I take? I’m currently in Biology and will most likely be taking AP biology next year. Any recommendations other classes I should take?
@musicpawns4 жыл бұрын
Enviornmental science, chemistry, physics, any science classes because youll probably have to take it in college!

I am currently going into a two year fisheries program at my community colloge for a degree in fisheries and technologies. I plan on going to university later when I come into stable money. I was wondering what my chances would be getting into working at an aquarium after the Fisheries program?

Hey, I'm a freshman majoring in marine biology. I just saw your day in the life video as a marine bio undergrad! Is a job at an aquarium customary for marine bio undergrads? Do you have your BS in marine bio yet? Or is this a summer job/temporary job until you get a grad degree? I would really like to know if this was your goal for your degree, or if you plan to do more research as a grad student. I know the marine bio field is pretty competitive (according to my high school astrobio teacher). I currently don't exactly have a clear vision of what I want to do after earning a grad degree so I'd really appreciate your advice.
@absolutesquash3 жыл бұрын
ive heard that the field can be really competitive too. i think being willing to travel, a scuba certification, and being willing to work in cold water or really stinky places opens up some jobs that others wont want as much. i had a short internship in a sea turtle hospital, and it was humid and smelled like fish and turtle poop. it was one of the most fun experiences ive ever had though! i plan on either working on some kind of research project (which will require travel) or being an aquatic vet (which requires vet school). its difficult to find jobs without making sacrifices, but its what i love so im willing to make them. (sorry if this sounds disorganized, i have adhd and i kinda suck at writing coherently lmaoo)

Hello! I’m currently a 12 year old kid but for a while now I’ve found interest in marine life. If I were to be a scuba diver where they rescue animals, what job will I be? Also if I were to be an employee at a zoo or Aquarium, how would I apply? Would I apply to be a marine biologist, aquatic biologist or what? Also is it possible to work both at a zoo AND aquarium, like for 3 days you work at a zoo, the other 3 you work at an aquarium THEN you get a day off

@jenb14124 жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert, but as far as I have seen the minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree in a biology, animal science, or marine science degree. I would reach out to the specific place that you want to work/check their careers site and see what they look for in the position you want to apply to. For example: google "San Diego Zoo career requirements."

To be an employee at Jenkinson's Aquarium you have to be at least 16 years old. Employees range from high school students to college graduates with degrees in Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Marine Biology or Marine Affairs typically!

What a great video! Thank you for the sub. I hope that what you’ve seen from my fish room videos shows my absolutely ridiculous passion for my fish! Do you also keep fish in your personal life even though you work in a public aquarium for a living? And, what kind of training do you have? Your job sounds like a dream job to me!😉🤘🏻🐠🦯
