When we first saw the Oslo fjord in 2014 I was amazed at how the topography was so similar to where I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Years ago we owned a small farm not far from the city of Victoria. That 4 acre farm was part of land that had been farmed by a Norwegian fellow called Hans Helgesen who chose the location because it reminded him of his home near Oslo back in Norway. When we saw the Oslo fjord we really understood what Hans Helegesen was talking about. Amazing!!

Fun video! Do more like this - so warm. I was in Oslo last summer and sat in the very same park by the tram! I had exactly the same thought as I made friends with a cute dog and its owner -- that people were out and about, enjoying sunshine and community. Vibrant! I found many people willing to chat for a moment, to share their lovely city with an elderly American lady (me!). I, too, enjoyed the Munch museum. I would love to return and spend a week or more in Oslo. I actually think I could live there! :) Thank you!!

Victoria is the capital city of the province of British Columbia and is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. There are a number of islands nearby. they are called the Gulf Islands. We can take a ferry to these islands just like Pal and Rick do in Oslo. However the Gulf Islands are rather too big to be walkable unless you have several days to do it in. I think a number of Norwegians settled in this area because it reminded them of home.

I enjoyed the video. I was not clear to me : does the Oslo pass include transportation to and from the airport? Thanks
@norwaywithpal27 күн бұрын
The Oslo pass only covers Zone 1 Oslo. From the airport you need several zones, 4,3,2, so you can for instance buy a ticket from the airport to Lillestrøm, and then the Oslo pass will cover you from there (not a big saving though). Most just buy the airport transport seperate and use the Oslo pass only inside of Oslo.

Dark ages? Maybe. .. In Norway the union with Denmark is often referred to as "The 400 year night".

Great video/s Pal (& Steve) - Thanks. I'm visiting Halden from the UK, with work in a few weeks and will have 48 hours at the end of my trip to explore Oslo, so will look to buy the Oslo Pass and Bike pass too! Can you further recommend digital apps for train travel? I will need to get From Oslo Airport to Halden, but then to Oslo for my 48 hour sightseeing too. Also, is there anywhere worth stopping off, on my way from Halden to Oslo, or with just a couple of days sightseeing, am I best to head straight to Oslo? Thanks 👏

Hi there, thanks for watching the video! You can use the Vy app for train travel. www.vy.no/en/travelling-with-us/app I would go straight to Oslo if I was you. Enjoy :)

Pål, Olso changed the city name because it had been named after a Danish King. But why is the main street, Karl Johans Gate, still named after a Swedish King? Why not rename it after King Harald?
