When you do a split with a nuc and a queen cell does the queen go on a mating flight and then return to the nuc? So a queenless hive knows not to swarm or is there a chance that the new queen takes the nuc bees somewhere else?

The camera person was not focused on shooting through the camera. They were busy looking over the camera and that's why so much of the video was on his face instead of what he was showing everyone.

What if you have a frame with a queen but, on the same frame you have 1 or 2 or even 3 new queen cells. You can make a split? So, if you don’t cut out the other queen cells what happens when all 2 or 3 queens hatch. Will the queens fight to kill each other? Will the old queen that you left in the other frame die? The bees are gonna follow the queen? Also how do you get the honey of frames with the plastic? Thanks

I'm surprised to see so many queen cells in such a small colony. This would be a concern to the quality of the queen in that hive.
@fineshooter7 жыл бұрын
why ? ==it don't take many bees to make a good queen we run a mini with a cup of bees for 50 years
@beebob12797 жыл бұрын
Don't you place queen cells in the mini nucs that were raised in large queen production colonies? I've been taught and watched a lot of professional queen rearers that a large colony is needed to produce quality queen cells. Then they are place in mini nucs to emerge and mature into a queen. Apparently, a small colony doesn't have the resources to develop a quality queen. Your answer makes me rethink what I've been taught.

Looks like your at an apartment,was this inside the city. My question is how do you get by the mosquito spraying program or is this not an issue. My city sprays.

Enjoyed the webinar yesterday! Every time I learn something new. What are your thoughts about using 8 frame spacers?
@fineshooter7 жыл бұрын
its not a good thing the bee space is too wide
@sunnysky4497 жыл бұрын
First hive this year, will be running 8 frame hive bodies. Seems to be a lot of empty space after the frames are in.
