hi. I'm from Poland, I don't dream about having bees, living in city, but these videos are amazing and I love to learn things like this. Great job you're doing, educating people around the world. Cheers!

Wow. Wow. I've read the comments. Everyone is trying to make this difficult! FOLKS! Try to understand what he is telling you! 1. Its for the bees, not for human consumption. They handle sugar differently than humans. Some sugars we eat will kill bees. This is when you introduce a Queen (hopefully a rare event) its not a normal food for the bees. For the most part its the worker bees that will eat the bee candy, not the Queen, though she has access to it and could eat it without a problem. I don't know but I suspect a worker bee eats until she is full, then another worker bee takes over. Repeat until job done. 2. Its to create a timed release. If you change ingredients, you will get a shorter or longer timed release. Possibly too short, acclimation and acceptance incomplete = dead queen. Possibly too long, delay in getting in to the hive and starting to lay. Possibly way way too long = dead queen. 3. Its to keep the queen in and SAFE. When transporting the queen, heat can cause OTHER ingredients in bee candy to melt and trap the queen. Even cover and kill her. Or release her while in transport. Remedy, do it as he said, with the ingredients he said, and add the wax paper at the screen side if she is going in the mail. 4. The bee candy ingredients he uses are time tested to allow the bees to release the queen in 2-3 days. It handles transport well and won't make the bees sick. RECIPE: Powdered sugar Karo syrup (clear corn syrup) Don't mess with success!

We used Nulomoline and Drivert sugar, no corn, no corn starch. I'm sure such small doses are fine but we never tried it. As kids we all kneaded our queen candy and put together the cages while watching TV as a family. Great memories.

Might check health food stores for "organic" corn syrup. At least then it wouldn't have GMO corn in it!
@kaistumer1988 жыл бұрын
+Unlucky Eddy Use Honey only from your own hives, where you know for sure they are AFB free, then you get the best queen candy you can have.

Corn Syrup is a Banned Food Stuff in the UK & EU ! I think 'Golden Syrup' by Tait & Lyle (Glucose Syrup Brand) might be our near alternative? Advise please, if I am wrong. Need a Queen Candy recipe where I can get the ingredient 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

What were the ingredients? Corn syrup (a poison for humans according to a doctor on TED) and -----?
@raymcdaniel55397 жыл бұрын
Corn syrup is just sugar, glucose and fructose. It isn't poison.

Brilliant video. He did say that he never uses it for anything else. Cheap syrup can be made from cellulose and sulphuric acid. (I don't know how.) it is a different monomer to the sugar we get from cane. You'd have to look that one up and anyway this is for bee consumption so their metabolism is designed to use sugar differently.

I'm confused; why shouldn't we use a marshmallow? Powdered sugar is made from sugar and cornstarch, and you're adding corn syrup. Marshmallows are made out of sugar, cornstarch, dextrose, and corn syrup. What's the difference?
@3_up_moon7 жыл бұрын
Joe Cope marshmallows also have gelatin in them
@julieenslow59156 жыл бұрын
Joe Cope Its about the timed release. They can get through a marshmallow in too little time - not yet acclimated and accepting of the queen = dead queen.
