Hey everyone! Today we bring you a very laid-back vlog taking a mini trip through part of the Black Forest here in Germany. While it was very brief this time, it gave us the opportunity to get a small taste of what it's like, and pick up info for planning our much longer, multi-day camping/hiking/paddleboarding trip through the forest here in the VERY near future. If you have any suggestions for a more rugged trip like that (great areas to camp, must sees, fun lesser known To-Do's along the way) please let us know down in the comments! And also we would love to hear some of your favorite experiences spending time in the Black Forest!

Lothar was a storm around 1990 that destroyed large areas in the Black Forest and the whole of southern Germany. Therefore what you see on that path has grown since then because all the trees were destroyed then.

Freudenstadt ist still within the Black Forest. The „Black Forest“ consists of several distinctive areas, regions, valleys, small lakes, hills.

Awesome!! Thank you for letting us know! That’s super helpful as we were trying to figure out what was still considered part of it. What a beautiful area! Can’t wait to camp! 🏕️

The Northern border of the Black Forest might be Bad Liebenzell...Which is a great bathing and Spa Town... Also great routes for hiking...I was there 2 times, because it's not that far away from Stuttgart area...

I really enjoy your videos a lot. Your camera works are amazing and your drone shots are breathtaking. Just a reminder : the Grimm fairy tales don't originate from here but from Hesse.

Thank you so much! We really appreciate that! Casey has been really working with the drone and loving it! And that's a really good reminder on the fairy tales. Thank you! Will have to look up some places historically in Hesse that inspired those. Would love to see that!

There´s Kirschwasser in the cake! Kirschwasser (/ˈkɪərʃvɑːsər/, UK also /-væsər/; German: [ˈkɪɐʃvasɐ], German for "cherry water") or kirsch is a clear, colourless brandy traditionally made from double distillation of morello cherries, a dark-coloured cultivar of the sour cherry. It is now also made from other kinds of cherries. The cherries are fermented completely, including their stones.[1] Unlike cherry liqueurs and cherry brandies, kirschwasser is not sweet. It is sometimes distilled from fermented cherry juice.[2]

A short but great trip to the Black Forest. In some places you should be a little careful with the Black Forest cake. I had caught one once, there was so much cherry schnapps in it that I refused to drive a car afterwards.

Oh no!!! No Black Forest cake and driving added to our list of things not to do! 😂😂 We wouldn't have even thought of that! And it really was beautiful! We are already actively trying to work out the camping trip and route!

Love the video! At least with that dress you dont look like little red riding hook. So you are safe from the big bad wolf! I like the drone footage too, but just a friendly reminder, Casey should do drone footage only in lonley countryside, not over any towns. The german rules on drones, where, when, how to use a drone, what you are not allowed to film, etc can be very crazy. and strict. Well, there is a tourist route, called the german fairy tale route. It connects stations of the Brothers Grimm, aswell places with fairy tale links. It has some great places to see, but i wouldnt visit just because of the fairy tales, but just so, like Marburg an der Lahn, because of the castle and the town itslef. I fear you will be dissapointed. I think it is just a touristic route to catch tourists. Beside the historical places where the Grims Brothers lived, studied, worked, it has not really much to do with german fairy tales, in my opinion. One can find hardly towns name in a fairy tale where the fairy tale takes place to be honest. Bremen and Hameln is an excpetion. If you enjoy Timberframe Houses i recommend the german timberframe-route. This route is better than the fairy tale route, because you got what you expect, Timberframhouses and not places labeld as fairy tales like the Sababurg as Sleepy Beauty Castle. Nothing in common what you know of the Diseny Castle. I like it nevertheless, but it is not very fairy tale. Better are local legends which never found their way into the Brother Grimms Collection, but you have to know local legends then first, of course. As we headed to the month of August, eating meals outside a Restaurant, such as Meat, but mostly cakes and ices or Beers and Cokes, any sweets is not a good idea. Only if you love to fight with an army of wasps about your food and trinks. Good luck. It starts within August and ends Mid-September. Another samll advice, better is NOT GOING OUT in the evenings out of a building. Stay in your hotel. There are sadly german towns nowadays where you likely will be harried or robbed or beaten by local gangs, such as the town of Limburg an der Lahn. From 8 o clock in the morning untill about 5 o clock in the afternoon it is mostly okay, but later i wouldnt walk around anymore if you are not from the german police or in a group made of 5, 6 or more persons. Just a fiendly hint.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful info! We always so appreciate it! And yes on the drone - absolutely. He has had to study that quite a bit about that actually and for the most part, his actually won't fly in restricted areas which helps a lot. He tries to cross reference with the German side of things to do in case there are any discrepancies between software but it's always good to over prepare and be overly cautious in case anything falls between the cracks so we will keep reading up on that. And love the tip on the Timberframhouses! That would be really fun...we love all of the architecture here so much and anything that has to do with seeing amazing buildings - be it traditional German houses, cathedrals, etc...we LOVE it! And we heard about the bees and wasps getting crazy...sounds like that is coming right up. It will surely be interesting to experience that for the first time haha. I wonder if we'll notice that with camping as well? Guess I'll have to practice some calming techniques lol

We actually were in Strasbourg the night prior to see Melody Gardot in concert (which was absolutely fabulous!! 😍), but got in fairly late and had a late night with the concert. When we looked up what to do in the area the next day, we thought maybe we would like more time for a vlog there than what we had left. When we saw how close we were to the Black Forest (which we have also been really wanting to see) it seemed like a good opportunity to pick up info for camping and get a bit of a sneak peek as we worked our way back home. We DEFINITELY are going back to Strasbourg for a full vlog though 🤗🤗
