This video is long because it is a day in the life as an independent shop mechanic. You’ll see me work on various cars throughout the day, utilizing various tools throughout each job. Our independent tool truck distributor, who promotes the sale of Gearwrench, VIM, Lyle, Milwaukee, a TD, platinum, And a variety of other tools stops by the shop on Mondays so you’ll see some of the tools that he has on his tool truck as well. We also pick up a Protech catalog which most independent tow trucks carry and promote a pro tech catalog series, which has a lot of the tools which I mentioned above edit. They are not Amazon prices so don’t be upset if they’re a little bit higher than what you can find them on Amazon for remember these tool distributors work their butts off to try to make it to and from each shop and allow us mechanics to purchase from them on a payment system. They are friendly, and they are really easy-going down to earth And they want to help you do your job as a mechanic. So we will cover the April Protech, 2023 catalog in this video towards the end. We will also be covering some differences between the icon raptor pliers, and the kinetics raptor pliers. My likes and dislikes between the two. I really hope you thoroughly enjoy today’s Contant. It is one of the longest videos that I’ve made in quite some time and I took my time with it because I want everyone to enjoy what it’s like to have a day in the life as an independent mechanic more so a day in my life working at Ron’s Automotive. Thank you very much for all your support and viewership cheers and see you next video 😎🍻

I don't have a power probe bc I never needed one but what I do to diagnose starters is to use a small piece of wire where the starter relay is located in at pins 87 and 30. No need to bench test

Justin, glad you're back. Doesn't that chain on your wrist get in the way when you are working? It would drive me nuts.

That power probe doesn’t carry enough amps to bench test a stater.

Best way too get the coolant heater hose quick connect off is too get a old flat head screwdriver tip hot with a torch and melt/cut off the plastic locking part very easy that way don’t need too take a chance on damaging a heater core from pulling on it hard

As a guy who use to own a hyundai with that same engine that kia have. It jumped timing what happens is the chain tensioner will make a noise every time you start the engine from a warm start. Eventually it will stop working and it will jump timing. Damn near all hyundai cars have this issue from Elantras all the way to Sonatas. It not hard to do on a 1.6 or 1.8 I did one on my 1.8 actually very easy.

Loved my power probe 3, traded it for Snap On’s MULIT-probe still getting use to that shit. Love the idea of having the power & ground function on top of the multimeter functions built in. Just wish it had the injector test function the power probe 4 has.

I know I'm gonna get a bunch of haters commenting on my comment, but who cares. If you like that M12 die grinder, why not check out the Ryobi 18 volt die grinder? Project Farm checked it out and said it was a beast when it comes to battery powered die grinders. Home Depot has the spring black Friday sales coming up and maybe it will be on sale. Just some foods for thought.

I’ll take a look. I don’t own any Ryobi at the Moment.. Gave those away to my friend and X-Wife. I’m pretty much All DeWalt & Snap-On these Days. Not saying I wouldn’t be willing to try out other products, but until I get settled in, the Budget is tight. 😎🍻

Pepsi was something I always had on my chest too lol. Not to be a complete dick about the oil guide tool, but you can also take a old license plate if your place sells cars too (not the actual license plate, but the one for advertising) and bend it and it does the same thing.
