Have you thought of setting up a paypal account for contributions as an alternative to Patreon? I would happily switch my monthly payment from P to PP and it would I think result in you getting more of it as it would save the cut P takes. Just a thought.
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's an interesting one, Patreon does take a decent cut, think we end up with about 80% or so. We do have a few people who make one off payments to our PayPal at info@danegerandstacey.com but they're less interested in the community element from Patreon. In saying that, most of our chats are in the Facebook group anyway so the middle man/commission element in the middle isn't even relevant actually!

I don't "do" Facebook (I know I'm in an increasing minority). I'll check out your link and probably switch from Patreon once they have taken my February payment to you so don't be offended if I drop off your P list! How is the book progressing btw?

Just catching up on a few of your past videos. Loved it! Thanks so much for suggestions, references, etc. You are both so relaxed in front of the lens and it always comes across natural and great. I really enjoy your video/photography insertions such as the fan, lighting and even something as simple as the floor designs. They certainly add to the quality of your vlogs. You are both very enjoyable and I always look forward to my next adventure in the life of Daneger and Stacey. All the best.

What's the problem with the water in Chiang Mai (or Thailand in general)? It seems every video I see that mentions water, or Buying bottled water or filling your water bottles drives this point home! The coffee shops must have some type of good water filtration, or the'd go broke making coffee with bottled water. Thinking about checking out the water filters reviewed on the Sootch (Sensible Prepper) channel for a good one to bring with me.

Thank you guys for mentally transporting us back to Nimman, Chiang Mai where we spent fabulous 3 months working remotely. We shared some of your daily routines and I think we ever rented an apartment in the same condo (Palm Springs) :D. Each of our "normal" days (with work and routines) felt like holidays. There was so many great places to discover around Chiang Mai that our stay was too short. Graph cafe and Ristr8to were our favourite spots to hang around :D. We really start to miss it all, being stuck in COVID-struck Poland during winter =( . Cheers!

Great videos. I'm sort of new to your channel and having watched several of your Bali videos am now interested in your nomad life in Thailand. It all seems a bit costly to me, by Asian standards that is. I actually lived in Thailand back in 1987 and 1988. Been back quite a few times throughout the years but not so recently. Is $700 the norm for a decent apartment in Chiang Mai now? Seems a bit dear to me. I'm sure you have been asked this before and maybe you have elaborated on it in previous videos but I'm curious as to what you do to earn enough to cover expenses while abroad. I'm retired now and am considering possibly a year gypsying around South East Asia once again. Just trying to get an understanding of how much it's going to cost. Your videos are giving me some insight on cost of living comfortably. I must say, in the old days it was far less expensive but then again, nothing stays the same. P.S. Have you been to Myanmar (Burma as we prefer)? My wife is from there and we have a home on the outskirts of Rangoon. Burma isn't so expensive but the long stay visa is a bit more tricky? Anyway, cheers and thanks for the great information.

Hey James - we discuss a bit more in our latest day in the life vid, just went live a few hours ago. Stacey is a designerr, these days our travel content is our other income stream (made up of about 10 different streams) but it wasn't back in this video. $700 is high for CM, if you don't want to be central or modern it can be a lot cheaper.

New Subscriber! Q: When you decided to become a Digital Nomad, how much money did you first have when you first arrived in Thailand? Just trying to get an idea on how much I need to save. Great video and can't to check out more of them 🌎
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 6 жыл бұрын
Best approach is to start some sort of online earnings before you leave, a proof of concept that you can do it. Then when you quit your job you now have 24 hours in the day to grow that online income with one focus. We sold loads of stuff to get about $5k or so and had other savings, but followed the above method to make sure we didnt need to use it much to begin with.

Daneger and Stacey I'm looking to go to Thailand for 6-12+ months and looking to do the whole DN thing. I'm thinking I'll be coming with around $7k. Do you believe that is good enough and also what type of budget do would you recommend, $20-50 a day?
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 6 жыл бұрын
Excluding accommodation, you could spend $10 on food in a day and be fine. If you want to do more, then $30 would be enough to account for some highs and lows with activities and all sorts. We've just filmed another cost of living video for CM going up next week, that will help!

Thanks! If i may ask: you’re referring to different types of income besides youtube somewhere in the comments below. Could you name some? We actually have quite some contacts in media but are still strugling to our approach.. like partnership with one medium or many, choise between vlogs/blogs, promotion of content etc. Many thanks in adcance!
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 6 жыл бұрын
Our advice is don’t go into blogs or vlogs to make money, the ROI is horrendous until you reach probably double our channels size. Everything you need is in our book, it’s just not live yet. Ecommerce, Amazon FBA, teaching English online, transcribing, coaching or all some quick Googles for you. But ultimately the best approach is freelancing with a skill, approaching businesses and working remotely.

What gym do you use nearby? Spent the last 2 days apartment hunting and seeing what pools and gyms are available. Ill be in almost the exact same area for the next month. Unfortunately not the palm springs

Can I experience that kind of life? I think digital nomad life can be realized If someone has skills about programing, online marketing,, ETC. Im working as an accountant, so Im wondering if I can be a digital nomad.
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 6 жыл бұрын
Of course you can - accountants have a very specialised skill. You could offer that skill as a freelance accountant, you could create content on doing your own accounts, run a course about accounting or the value of money, publish books etc - it's not just for developers. We go through the full process and steps to show how you can turn your job into a digital asset: danegerandstacey.com/travel-full-time/

difference between bgc or Makati in the Philippines and Chiang Mai?
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 6 жыл бұрын
Ooooh thats tough. BGC is better than Makati, so it's BGC vs CM really..... hhhhmm we love both. CM wins for us though, mostly because of the ease of things, the food and the low cost.

Gives you an idea of just how expensive 💲💲food can be here in the U.S.. I think the two of you spent all of $7 for two meals, you would be lucky to get a meal at McDonald's much less a regular restaurant, here in L.A. for one at that price. 😎👁🕵️‍♂️

Get a good air cleaner for your apartment. One with a HEPA and chemical filter. And then sell it to the next guy. You won't realize the damage being done to your lungs till years later.

I am still unsure of how there are 1,000s of digital nomads in Chiang Mai. What kind of work can 1,000s do? A big thing stateside is people doing call center stuff from their homes. Which I can't see people doing from coffee shops. Creating content for other companies. small companies, I can see that. But big companies use agencies or their own people to create websites, etc. We really enjoy all of your videos. But we watch them for travel info. I am close to retirement. We were going to buy a place overseas. Decided against that in favor of living in place for 3 months, or so. We won't sell all of stuff, as we want a home base. Some of the apts, that you rented are perfect for us "nomadic retirees". I have no desire to be a retiree in a motor home. LOL.
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! We like your plan, pretty sure we'll still be doing the same later in life as well but the motor home is definitely for a small trip only - not long term haha! Re Nomads - everything is online now, call centres etc is in the 9-5 mindset. Think of the ads you see online for ecommerce stores, who's the designer who made the ads? Who's the person running the ecommerce store? Whos the advertising specialist that runs the ads for the owner? They're all sitting in a coffee shop somewhere. Teaching english online, creating content, selling on Amazon, simply working remotely, SEO, blogging and more... all are just done via the internet. No need for an office.

OMG, honestly. If you are worried about the cost of a coffee, don’t come here. You are getting bad advice. Chiang Mai is not cheap. This is not the Philippines. Yes, many back-packers in Nimman. They ruin this place. If you don’t have a viable business, don’t come here. It doesn’t take long to go from a no direction no-mad to homeless.
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 5 жыл бұрын
Why so mad bruh? We didnt complain about a coffee, I think you might have forgotten that most people watching content on Chiang Mai are curious to see if their budget can work, if they should visit, what life is like, is it achievable... a video like this shows them the real. Which in reality is that places like this coffee shop are expensive in comparison to local spots and people need to know that.
