How often do you do class labs? Is classroom management ever an issue with labs?

Hi Miss Estruch thank you for your video 😊 can I please ask did you need to have a masters and/or publish academic research in biology in order to become eligible to become head of science department??

Hi, i appreciate your video and advice. Ive found it very useful, thank you! So a question about your work/life balance as a teacher/parent. I'm a lone parent to a 6yo and looking at teaching to make the school holidays a bit more manageable. Do you think teaching is a good option in your experience to find that balance? I currently work in the medical field with only the minimum holiday time.

Hey, So pleased you found it helpful. For me, I am (only recently) a single mum of 2 year old twins, have been teaching full time and have this online business. I have found I have had the time to balance it, but I think that is for two key reasons. 1) I am very fortunate that my boys sleep 6pm-6am every night so I have the evenings to work or relax. 2) I started teaching straight out of uni pre-kids so i went through all the tough years then. I have been teaching for 14+ years now, so I have all my lessons planned and know basically all my lessons off by heart, so preparation is minimal. This took me at least 3 years to get to this stage though and it was tough at the beginning (but that was also partly because it was my first job so had to get used to hard work post-uni life ha). The holidays are a massive bonus for childcare, but teaching does come with sometimes needing to mark or plan at the weekends or in the holidays. However, I must say I don't do ANY school work past 5pm on weekdays now because I have found techniques and strategies that work for me to completely streamline everything and be super efficient. I actually have a new channel (Miss Estruch Teach & Tell) in which I share all of these tips and resources to help busy teachers too. If you want to chat more about it feel free to email me at missestruch@gmail.com P.S. I LOVE teaching! It can be busy but it is so rewarding and amazing working and helping students

@MissEstruchBiology @MissEstruchBiology Thank you for taking the time to give me such an in-depth reply. I picked up in your video that the first few years are the most challenging, especially when enhancing subject knowledge whilst exposing yourself to teaching. After learning the ropes it becomes manageable is a useful way to look at it! I've spoken to other teachers who try to sell me the idea that it's a 24/7 slog for 365 days a year, so it's nice to hear a different opinion from someone with experience giving an honest picture. I've been quite shocked by how negative some teachers have been about the whole profession. I'll be looking to apply at a local training scheme Sept 24, intending to train for high school and sixth form. I will definitely take a look at your other channel, and if okay with you, forward any more questions on to the email you provided. Thanks, Danny.
