So this might be a morbid question but when you harvest organs from a donor do they keep them alive until they get what organs the need to harvest wanted?

Curious what's most critical in avoiding arrhythmia. I heard of one of our patients coming out of foot surgery with A Flutter but had a normal EKG preop
@avasihuiliu22672 жыл бұрын
Optimise the electrolytes and maintain euvolaemia if possible, adequate depth of anaesthesia and analgesia, avoid arrythmogenic drugs... basic stuff I guess.. of course clinical senarios will call for specific managements.

So during your fellowship training, you woke up at 4am and left the hospital at around 5/6pm only to then work out and get dinner afterwards? How many hours of sleep did you get a night, typically?

Great video! THNX! I want to be Cardiothoracic surgeon in future but I am wondering about all those new technologies like TAVR, Stents, MitralClip, will there be in future anything else left for Cardiac Surgeon expect LVADs and Heart Transplants...
@RKMD5 жыл бұрын
People have been saying cardiac surgery is a "dying field" for decades. While minimally invasive options are becoming more abundant, there will always be a need (albeit changing role) for surgeons.

Hey am a third year resident anaesthesist form PUNE, India and I'd love to pursue cardiothoracic anaesthesia after my residency..what all should I expect?
@asdfjklasdfjkl4084 жыл бұрын
A few questions. 1. What site do you use for arterial lines? 2. Do you feel as if cardiothoracic anesthesia is more hands on than other anesthesia fellowships/practice? Thanks for the awesome video!
@RKMD4 жыл бұрын
1.) Radial and femoral sites. Occasionally brachial. 2.) I'm obviously biased, but one of the reasons why I chose to pursue cardiothoracic anesthesia and critical care fellowships is due to the critically ill nature of patients and how involved we are in the process.
