Some of those kids grow up to be adults leaving food at fast food tables. These custodians have their hands full. They’re doing a good job.

How do you apply to be a school custodian? Do you apply directly at the school, or do you have to use a government site and apply online? I used to be a janitor and a boiler operator for the city.
Question guys! My whole team are girls (5’2/over 45 years old; myself included. ) We all have some sort of physical issue (arthritis mainly). Our maintainance guy will be busy doing his stuff all summer and we don’t have a floor tech. My question is- our manager expects all the floors to be stripped/waxed this summer. We all know this, but the stripping machine is VERY hard for us to use! We have a very difficult time in the slippery stripper floor holding on to a machine that pulls us back and forth. 😢 How can we accomplish this, this summer? (3 female housekeepers and that’s it)

Not all custodians just “clean.” As a custodian at a school , i clean, set up meetings, move furniture during in-depth summer cleaning, Weed whip the whole property, get outdoor trash, and plow the sidewalks. No one ever tells about the “miscellaneous “ duties we perform. I work my tail off

a Damm shame these lower classmates (after 1976 class) can't and won't pick up after themselves..maybe the district should restrict food deliveries to the school..it takes away revenue from the school for future improvements to the school and for other programs...

So this is literally a regional thing. When I was in school in the 90s. I have 6 kids between 5-19 and there schools are exactly the same. K-12 no kids can leave the lunch area until it’s all cleaned up. It’s a very conservative city/state so RESPECT is something that is a MUST it’s not a option. Literally from 4-100yrs old you are judged based on if you say SIR/MAMN or making a mess. But I have friends that moved from other states to get there kids into a better place. The kids struggled the first few weeks just from the standards are much higher to them. For anyone with respect it’s just the basics. But for them they’ve been allowed to do whatever so they felt like it was “High Standards” which is just sad.
