I wonder who are the true teachers here. The man with common sense and caring, or the people that put the letter of the law above the spirit of the law. You can have all the degrees in the world but they do not mean you can solve everyday problems, or have any common sense, or the ability to help others through their struggles and their dark times....I have helped a lot of kids over the years just by taking the time to listen to them and give them my experience, and what I'd do if I were in their shoes. Something most counselors today have no idea how to do...listen, they think because they are a counselor they know everything and in fact they really have no idea, they just read books and paid for a piece of paper at a college, that is no substitute for real life experience.

He is in right position! Fact: a custodian knows more about the happenings in a school than the administration knows! We see all, we hear all we know all! If we don't we will! When one is in that role the whole school is yours. You have the opportunities to interact with the students on a different level than in classroom setting. You have the opportunity to build a bond and trust with these students and that my friends is a beautiful opportunity to show each they are worthy and to lead back on track with words of wisdom and insight when needed. It is opportunity to make a difference in ones life. To give a nudge at times with compassion letting you know life at any age is difficult but take that bull and stay on for the 8 seconds because you got this but should the bull buck you I'll be right there to be your rodeo clown!

My middle school custodian used to tell people their grades when they didn't have access to them for whatever reason and for some of the students that didnt have lunches he would buy it for them. He was an air force veteran and the school recognized him multiple times for it. He was so nice to everyone and he always got the behavior back. Thanks Mike

More like this. This man is a friend to everyone he meets, and he has made an impact in the lives of students that might have gone down a dark road.

The beautiful part is that Charles knows that he has a special mission. I also love that the school counselor recognizes his gift. I hope the students will make his retirement an unforgettable event.

Awww this is like have your grandad or uncle looking out for you at school. A lot of kids need this kind of guy. He sees it all too not only what you read. You know he's got something to tell these kids to set em on their way. Bless his heart x
