Daniël Blom No you are sadly mistaken and falling for the Wine of Babylon. Marcus Aurelius is a full fledged pagan. Nothing about his life reflects Christian values. He is a stoic and worshipped the the false gods as a high initiates believing the lies of esoteric societies like you yourself have. Knights Templar, Knights of Columbus, Knights Of Malta, Scottish Order of the Freemason, Heremetic Order of the Golden dawn, the Jesuit Order, The Rosicrucians, Angus Dei, The Oculist, and many other false orders like the Gnostics which were created by Simon Magus when he was rebuked by Peter for trying to buy the Holy Spirit, all these bodies that take from Alexandria, Egypt and Babylon are liars because they worship the dead and are serpent/Pan thirst worshippers. They are liars and believe the lies of Kabbalah, Kundalini and reincarnation. All of that is lies and not Biblical because 1st commandment says I am thee God who brought you out of the house of bondage in Aegyptus, you shall have no other God before me. Lord Elohim Yahweh Jesus is already making a clear distinction that he is not Osiris, or Amun Ra, or Moloch, Or Quetzalcoatl, or Amaterasu, or Krishna, or Vishnu, NONE OF THEM are Christ and are false Gods. They worship the dead and and the book of the dead but the dead know not the world of the living. It is you who has been duped by the Sha’tan. Many of these so called enlightened esoterics think all their gods are one god and get kicks thinking haha we are smarter and know the truth but the lower initiates no know not. The king of kings Lord Jesus is truth and reveals truth and the lie of Babylon where they try to say Moloch is Yahweh which is a blatant lie. Moloch is Saturn (sha’tan) Worship and sacrifice children to idols of baphomet and Baal of the cannaites, The wicker man of the celts. Are you okay with sacrificing people? Do you agree with the Roman Triumphs of sacrificing victims to the a statue of a Jupiter Optimus (another Saturn, Sha’tan, same thing) and strangling them to death? The Freemasons are liars and try to say these things and confuse the mind like the serpent in Eden long ago which is why they worship the created and not the creator. Many evil Jews took the traditions of Babel ‘lon’ and wrote false books trying to claim their where biblical like the Talmud, Kabbalah, and so called false lost books that when you compare the the old and New Testament to these so called lost books, the lost books fall apart. Compare every single verse in the lost books and they contradict each other and support patheist beliefs. They do not align with the word of Yahweh Jesus. You must read the Bible and test the fruits of Marcus Aurelius. Was he speaking about the gospel of Christ? Was he trying to save souls? No he wasn’t, he was worshipping icons and living as a pagan. Many people try to say Christianity is the same as other beliefs but they are wrong because no other god has died for their people to save them. Men are created mortals and die and if enough time passed they are remembered as divine like The lie of Gilgamesh. Do not believe the lies of the esoteric false men. Who worship idols, and at times, sacrifice or rape children. Many Romans had a disgusting appetite for young men. Regardless if Marcus was doing that, his life does not reflect a Christian life. When the Germans where threatening his Kingdom Will Durant says in his recordings/books (despite I study through Will Durant, I don’t trust a lot of what he says because he’s a biased Freemason) Marcus had many different priest of different rites sacrifice according to their rites so that they may prosper in war. Right here we already see that Marcus is a full-fledged pagan because a Christian would not sacrifice other than sacrifice there pleasures to not sin because the body is a temple where the Holy Spirit resides and that’s why the 2ed temple was destroyed because the high elite Jews became pagans and corrupt secret societies so Jesus ended that temple sacrificial system and became the perfect sacrifice. Sacrificing animals after the death of Jesus is rejecting him as lord and savior like many pagans and false Jews do today. Everybody who believes in Christ is therefore a Jew by adoption. We are house of Israel, a spiritual house, not the piece of land that’s controlled by Zionist. Soon Jesus will reclaim the kingdoms of the Earth for their lies about his Gospel. It is highly suspect that the claim that Marcus Aurelius is a Christian must be some kind of esoteric gibberish lie from a gnostic source. Do not trust the Gnostics or those who worship shrines or bow to statues and worship the eastern sun (lux Lucifer/ Sha’tan) or repeat phrases to themselves to mantra themselves and empty their mind only to be possessed without their consent because their mind has been emptied of all that is good when they believe the lie that they are becoming wiser by practicing breathing patterns. God gave us his breath and breathed life into us like potter mixing clay and bringing to life pots of human clay. It is interesting that for an extra-dimensional beings( demons) to hijack our bodies completely, need to control our breathing patterns. As I said before Simon Magus is not to be trusted, he was taught in Babylon and later became high priest to Nero. There is nothing good about him or the Gnostics. They believe gnostic ‘to know’ is the god of knowledge but they are wrong. All these pagan teachings all teach that a select few know the truth and everyone else is asleep. No, it is the high initiates who are the most asleep and a sheep because they believe the wine of Babylon, mystery Babylon, which has become a den of vipers and harlots and corrupted from its pleasures. That is why a pastor is called a PASTOR, he is a HEARDER OF MEN who know not the truth like yourself. The belief that only a select few would know the truth is a lie and completely satanic. It is no different than the Pharisees which is why their rein came to an end and Jesus spread the gospel and salvation to know him to all who believe. God Jesus wants everyone to have that special connection to him a personal God. Not some ritualistic icon worship or intermediaries like false catholic priest of the modern day Roman beast system. God did not intend that only a select few would understand him, he meant that all that believe in him, can understand and know the truth. When you analyze the life of Marcus Aurelius, ask your self did he live according to Jesus? He did do some good things compared to other emperors, however, if he truly believed he would’ve renounced the pagan pantheon of Rome, destroy her temples, destroy all graven images / icons and renounced the pantheon as a whole and instead support the gospel of Christ. He didn’t do that and it’s a deal breaker because one cannot worship to masters. The dragon gives his seat of authority and his subjects to do his biding. One cannot be Emperor and Christian at the same time. Constantine did nothing Christian in his life and actually tried rewriting the bible through Eusebius which is completely heretical. His conquest reflect nothing about Christian virtues. How is conquering and stealing from your neighbor being good to thy neighbor? There is no account of Marcus ever publicly, nor privately saying that he support Jesus Christ and his testimony. Read Apocalypsis/The Book of Revelation if you eyes to see and ears to hear if you truly believe. It is my creed (credo, creer, creation) to believe and defend the truth like gardener (guard, guardian) to defend the paradise of Eden. The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. It’s doctrines are holy, it’s precepts are binding, its histories are true, and it’s decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains to light direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the travelers map, the pilgrims staff, the pilots compass, the soldiers sword and the Christians charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hades disclosed. “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” -Romans 1:21-25

Where did the food come from? Did people store it in their individual apartments? That seems like you’d need pretty robust storage by the standards of the period. I can’t imagine you’d be able to buy much in advance. It seems more feasible for the apartment to have its own stores that tenants would purchase from. Were the dining rooms a communal space or did each apartment have its own room? I’m hung up on this because I was caught off guard by how similar the Roman routine was to modern living. I mean it’s just a much shittier version of our way of live, and the mundanity of grocery shopping and dinner parties seems so modern that it becomes difficult to reconcile it with the Dark Ages that would come between them and us in history. I guess that’s why they call them the Dark Ages.

About the food preservation, the medium citizen or the medium slave had practically bread and not that much more, while the patricians had practically every food they wanted So the patricians used to conserve food in their canteens (some even with ice imported from the mountains) while the rest of the food was salted or dried or left "pick flavor" by rot in wooden boxes with some spices (for example the rotten fish was quite popular in Rome as condiment) Fun fact: the roman soldier payment was mostly paid in salt and vinegar and Hannibal soldiers payment too, in fact it used this to blow a passage in the alps

I love the format of the video. I think that the facts become inconsistent for the targeted social class, when you get to dinner. For average Roman laborers, lunch was a big meal of the day. For wealthy citizens, cena was indeed the big meal, though regular people might enjoy a meal at a casual eatery like we do today. Regular folks weren't laying down on their sides, either: they likely ate in taverns or hanging out in the streets. You did catch the aspects of their diets including animal products, for sure, by the 1st century. Just my big nitpick that it seems that dinner & lunch were closer to one another for the poorer classes, like they are for people in a lot of developed countries today. I suspect you just wanted to make the Cena joke, and if that's the case, you have my respect.

Well before the industrial revolution city life depended on slave labor. All the house shores like laundry and the like again are hard without either slave labor, servants or a house wife. So a good dependable slave was a great investment to have.

The smell from all the people who don't bathe would be the biggest annoyance, other than having to rely entirely on your immune system to fight off disease of course. Other than that, it doesn't sound too bad. I might just get an apartment on the outskirts of the city to avoid the noise pollution.
@danielblom391
@danielblom391 4 жыл бұрын
Crime is sky high, apartment buildings can collapse on a daily basis without notice, fires are very common and spread rapidly, and trash includes a lot of dead babies. Sports matches can erupt into riots by the supporters of different teams and this can potentially escalate into streetfights with knives, swords and clubs. Toothpaste could, depending on status and time, contain ground up mouse brains, ashes of animal hair, and human urine (shipped from Portugal because it was stronger there)

Given that this is ordinary life of the privileged classes during the peak of Roman civilisation... it sounds rather boring, ngl. Good for them to work less than 8 hours, but there is only so much to do afterwards. Dining 3 hours (or even 1 hour) reflects this lack of things to do. And these were most likely the best of times.
