Thanks for this! I'm deciding on whether to study at Kyodai or Todai but I'm still indecisive! The views outside the campus and the run by the bridge looks so peaceful! Maybe Kyodai should be my first choice... :')

i'd say tokyo and kyoto give completely different vibes! tokyo life feels very fast-paced and theres a probably a lot going on but i am definitely a nature-oriented person so kyoto was my first choice. the river is called kamogawa and there are also lots of お寺 and traditional shops here that's definitely not as common as in tokyo~

Todai student here. Yes, if you wanna decide whether tokyo or kyoto, i think consider the rent price as well where tokyo would be more expensive (depending which ward you live as well). I gotta say kyoto is chill and relaxing, meanwhile tokyo has more hectic city vibe.

Question, after you graduate, do you still plan on living and working in Japan? I'm currently in 12th grade here in India. This used to be my dream University back in 10th but I'm not sure if Kyoto is the one or no. I'm very conflicted as my highschool life ends in like 5 months

Kyoto U seems like the perfect choice if you're looking to immerse yourself fully in Japanese culture while mastering the language. Few programs offer the same level of intensity when it comes to Japanese language classes! As for my plans after graduation, I haven't made a final decision yet, but staying in Japan and finding a job here is definitely an option. ✨

Hello! I am coming into Kyodai this spring semester as part of the KUINEP program, super excited! I am currently looking at dorms, and Hyakumanben is my first choice, but I am currently debating over Shigakuin vs Mizuki as my second choice. I would love a social/community feel, and I heard Mizuki RA's host events, but I am concerned about the older facilities and 100 yen showers. Shigakuin sounds good but is a bit far, and I am unsure how social it is (esp since I am a girl and it looks like the common areas are on the guy's floors? Not too sure about this info).

hiii im not quite sure what mizuki is like but shugakuin is very spacious. im not very familiar with shugakuin's layout, but indeed probably the common area isnt used often. people are generally very friendly and more social in classes so i wont worry too much~

u won't regret! i think most people have a scholarship and costs of most things are not high at all, especially when u compare the quality of the stuff sold here.

Have looked at the costs and although it is definitely cheaper than unis in my country, it will be impossible without one as obviously can't get a loan. Also, are you an iUP student or did you get in through some other way? I'm currently working on my essay so if you have any tips you can give I would be very grateful.

yup the dorms are mixed. theres a separate wing for guys and girls so we still get to see each other at the common space! ooh currently i dont have a public sns account but im definitely putting it onto my bucket list. thanks for your comment!

Hi, that sounds like a great plan! The open campus days for Japanese students are in august, but outside of that, the university museum, clock tower, and other parts of the campus are open to visitors throughout the year. However, access to regular classrooms may be limited.

hi!!! i am staying at hyakumanben and i def recommend it (thinking of filming a dorm tour in febuary so look out for that☺) but otherwise i heard shugakuin (修学院) is quite nice as well, just further towards the north from campus
