This is the second time I have watched this video and I wanted to say it has been super helpful. Vlog style videos for this purpose are best and you explained things well (for someone with a Bachelors level in psych looking to continue to a Masters level). I will probably end up watching this again if I do not pick a career path soon. THANK YOU.

Hello I am interested in becoming a school psychologist and wanted to get some insight on this career choice! I have a few questions, if you don’t mind answering when you get the chance :) What are some of the most common psychological/ special education/ standardized test that you use/work with often? What are some of the pros and cons of being a school psychologist? What did you get your degrees in? Were there any additional certifications/licensing you had to get? What inspired you to choose this career path?

@@Amandaschoolpsych Hello again, I thought of a few more questions :) What is something that you wished you focused more on learning while you were at university? (or what is something you wish had been taught to you?) What internships did you complete? What does your typical work day look like? (are there certain tasks that reoccur most often like having to do testing's, writing up behavioral forms, reaching out to parents etc.) How is the transition of moving to a different state, do you need to get additional certifications for those states requirements? What type of schools have you worked for (public, private, both)? Do you ever take work home to do and if so how many hours worth is it? / Are you able to get most of your work done at work? What was your first job after getting your degrees? What do you enjoy most and least about being a school psychologist? Are there any books that you refer to or that has helped you with your career? What are some things to be aware of/ask about before committing to a location/district?

@@Amandaschoolpsych these are all really good questions! I’m interested in the field as well. To add to her questions about the field. You can pick which questions to address. Thank you! * How do you enjoy being a school psychologist? What are your pros and cons/stressors of your work? * What are your specific responsibilities as a school psychologist in your current role? (I.e How much of your job is assessing/writing reports versus counseling students/consulting/intervention?) * What is a typical work day or work week like for you? * Does this profession cause you burnout and how is the work-life balance? (I.e do you find yourself taking work home/working outside contract hours?) * Any report writing & time management tips that help you? * Organization tips for school psychologists/how do you keep track of everything * What’s your typical caseload look like in a year? (I.e about how many evaluations/reports are you writing?) * Any other things I should know or consider before making the switch to school Psychology?
