Fair play to you for getting Lewis on the mucking out, he seems a great lad with his head screwed on and so lovely seeing how much he thinks of Gambler! I actually really enjoy these homely sort of vlogs of all the normal side of things. Xx

A land management video would be good at some point in winter, as it looks like you have limited grazing where you are, and a lot of people are in the same boat!

Yes that’s definitely something I can do, When we first started renting this yard we had about 15 acres, but over the years the owner has sold bits off to the houses so we’ve had the learn to manage the bit we were left with as no chance of buying anything bigger in our area as prices are ridiculous 😢 x

Hi Karen, I fell across your channel a couple of months ago, and I've been looking forward to each video. You are so down to earth, and that is very refreshing. Lewis is a lovely young man.😊 You have beautiful and very well looked after horses, and I miss riding so much. I had an ex racehorse, and it is so sad they are raced far too young. We also had a Shetland x Dartmoor pony for my son. He was ruthless and an expert escape artist.😂 😊

Gambler's new saddle suits him alot more, you can use a wire suede brush to bring up the texture, all suede show saddles end up going smooth where the riders legs are but that can't be seen when the riders on anyway, they may be a little more difficult to ride in but the suede does give a good grip especially with sticky bum jods 😂, all of the ponies are looking really well, just dreading winter coming, roll on next show season, just hope the weather is a bit more kind to us xx

Roll on spring 😂 xx

I like your at the yard videos because its a reminder of how much there is to do ,as you say the jobs are never ending ... There are light weight stable rugs that have a cotton/flannelette inner layer which doesn't make the horses clammy or sweaty, our lot are still rugless at the moment but by next weekend the temperature might be at 10degrees so it might be time to tug em ... Your lorry is coming along, it looks wider and longer than the other so hopefully it might encourage Willow to toilet whilst travelling... I too thought Ebbie had grown some since you bought her, she's a cracking little filly and moves well for her age.... I watched an earlier video of Gambler under his old saddle and could clearly see the difference in his movement ,his shoulders looked freer and he's more uphill and forward under his new saddle, I'll be getting Roo fitted saddle wise in December am not buying a new one as I think I'll need to keep changing his as he changes shape.... Willow looked to be moving well is he more engaged behind ? Leg yielding is a good exercise for engagement all round.... .. Karen what's your take on de worming? Our wormers arrived today with a letter from supplier saying that horse owners are worming too frequently and this is lead worming treatment being less effective , have looked up this before it does appear to be the case.... We always check droppings for worms and eggs , but as our horses spend a lot of time out grazing tape worms are common... Supplier also said that wormers are killing the insects and larvae that the dung beetle feeds on , and no dung beetle could mean no good grazing in time,,, do you worm regularly (as we do) or do you have a different routine..... ?? Ooh good news we're Water tight at long last, no leaks , guttering and drainage is sorted we had heavy rain the other night, it was good to see the water drain away and go where it should, not where it shouldn't.... Till next time 👍

I love filming the at the yard vlogs, and showing all the behind the scenes of the owning and caring for the horses, i feel were having to rug the horses earlier each year, the seasons just dont seem to be right anymore, Yes im hoping the new lorry will be better for Willow, its the same style lorry we had when i first bought willow and i dont ever remember having a problem with him weeing when we first got him, Gambler is moving so much better in the new saddle, Lewis is struggling to adjust to the change in movement but he will figure it all out soon, Yes sadly wormers are far to overused nowadays and so then dont give the results they used to, i worm all the new horses i get (ebby and pip) 4 times a year (as used to be suggested) for the first year i own them, just so i know we have covered all worms and there cycles after that first year my horses all then only get wormed twice a year, at the beginning of show season and at the end of show season, I do not worm count as most worm counts do not cover red worm, and red worm is the killer, white worm is perfectly normal and not an issue unless a very heavy burden, also very common i young or old horses (ebby had white worm when she came to me, i wasnt worried, but pip had red worm so we were worried for her for a few days after worming, both are clear now thank fully) till next time

Hi Karen, do you ever take Lewis and Gambler up to the arena hire along with you and Willow? He might be a bit more forward in there with another horse and it seems like you only go by yourself 🤔 Or do they not travel well together? Also I remember a while back you were going to show us your Summer paddocks once all the weeds were gone. Maybe a bit late in the year now 😂. Hope the show went well! 🎉🎉
@KarenBadrick1
@KarenBadrick1 2 ай бұрын
Hiya No sadly I don’t take him up to the arena with me as I have to pay per horse and Lewis finds schooling boring so it’s a waste of money really, I will be taking gambler up there this winter tho for me to ride Well….i was under the impression the weeds would die off and disappear so then I would have a lovely looking paddock 😂 but that’s not the case haha I now have a paddock of dead weeds that looks more awful then it did before 😂 I’m hoping they Will disappear once the weather turns Sadly we didn’t make the show as willow is lame 😢 (nothing serious but I think he tweaked his shoulder) xx

Hi both , it would be good to see a yard reservation , we're I worked we had a horse box a bit lick that .and we had a bed on top of the cabine . Ebby look in such good condition . I think Gabby is everyone's dream horse .😊😊 Lewis just take your time and it will all come to gether . How about on the ankle with your stirrups .and see if that helps . Thank you for sharing your day .Take care and all the best. 👍👍👍👍☺☺☺☺☺💖💟

Hiya Thank you, yes I think there going to put a bed on the top of the cab, I can’t wait till it is all finished and then we can take the horses out in it, Yes there is no rush for anything, take the time and everything will work out in the end, He says the stirrups at his ankle is to long, he always like to ride really short where I’m the opposite and always have my stirrups really long. Take care, all the best ♥️♥️♥️ x

It's definitely autumnal now, daylight going fast too 😬. I thought you said you was going to rug willow early this year and try to not clip, due to the early season shows? He looks amazing as he always does but I think he is feeling amazing too, so whatever feed etc you changed to is suiting him😊.Not sure about the fit of Gambler saddle tho it looks to have too much movement behind and lifting off his back. I'm not mentioning pip's door 😂
@KarenBadrick1
@KarenBadrick1 2 ай бұрын
Oh yes autumn is coming in quickly now, we are loosing the daylight fast Sadly I don’t think he will do well not being clipped now, he’s already fluffy and sweating when we ride, but I am trying to get hold of some covercoat blades for my clippers so then the clip is not a short, I’ve also always done my last clip of the year the week before Christmas but this year will be doing it nearer the beginning of December and see if that helps The saddle fitter is due again in a week or 2 to see how it’s moulded to him, he is definitely feeling a lot better in this saddle x
@cindbin64

Yes it's definitely the cut to free his shoulders up it's just banging about behind, probably needs a fourth girth strap to hold it, a typical cob /saddle issue

He needs to learn otherwise then if he wants to have a proper seat. My riding instructor always had me ride completely without stirrups atleast once a week when i was younger. These short ones make him have a "chairseat" which is off center and balance. :)
