I am really enjoying your videos. I love to be creative but am so busy with my job that by the time I get home, cook, exercise I’m exhausted. Watching your video reaffirms that we don’t need hours of time creating ( although Joe fun would that be😏). Just a few minutes every day can be done. Thank you. So refreshing ❤

I am considerably older than you and have struggled with worsening essential tremor for a number of years. It was so encouraging to hear you speak of it and how you are embracing it as part of your art practice…your comments have inspired me to lean into the “wiggle” rather than abandoning art as impossible!😊
@allisondawrant Жыл бұрын
that means a lot to me. I saw a comment on one of my videos and it was along the lines of "dear- you shouldn't be nervous doing these videos, and I hope you don't give it up". I had a laugh as I didn't recall seeming nervous during filming and I realized it was the essential tremor that she likely observed and made an assumption it was nerves. It really has helped with my art practice and if I want a straight line I can find a ruler:) ha. And I now love photography with my iphone as the incredible features help with stability.I hope you do revisit your practice. thanks for writing me.

Apt and eloquently stated! 😊I, too, struggle with tremors. It is difficult but I work hard to get around it. Some days are better than others so I save my pen work for the "good" days and paint on the others. Mornings are better, I have found. Thank you for your comment. Bless

I was drawn to your video by the title because I stitch before breakfast. So important to start you day with something that fills you with calm and joy - food for the soul. Your video has inspired me to leave out some watercolour splashes the night before to do some mark making every now and then too. 😊

Ooooh, amazing. I was thinking about doing a video where I use embroidery to accent my finished watercolour paintings and canvases. I'm so happy you found some inspo in this video. thanks for watching, writing, sharing.

@@allisondawrant what a fabulous idea. I watercolour on calico and embroider that, had never thought of stitching on paper. I look forward to seeing you what you create next. 😊

once in a while, usually preceding a major change that isn't clear yet, ii experience heightened anxiety...exercise, hydration, & art are the usual antidotes....this session in particular has become a go-to resource for focusing the monkey mind in constructive activity. Ty.

Thank you for teaching us about your essential tremor. I'd honestly never heard of such a thing. Why they would call it "essential" is still not something I've been able to discover. I do LOVE the idea of anyone making lemonade out of lemons. Rock on! Obviously it's not hindering you. : ). Your work is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

I too have essential tremor and about 3 years ago I decided to try watercolor anyway! I’m pretty successful in spite of my tremor! It seems that I can control a brush better than a pen. Some of the strokes are definitely difficult (especially the free, loose ones, but practice helps) but the art has actually helped my writing (although it does depend on the time of day for some reason). The mark making pens may be tough to do for me but you can bet that I will try!! I make junk journals and want to add in more of my art and am definitely drawn to your style! Thank you for encouraging all of us to make art!!💕

I have a slight tremor from a stroke. I used to be a calligrapher, but cannot do the intricate stuff any longer. I have struggled to find a replacement of creative work. I love that watercolour is so free and not bound by strictures of form and shape.

I appreciated this session so much, not only for your inspiring art but for what you said. I have been struggling lately with finding my voice in my art and it has reached a frustration point that is interfering with my joy to just express myself. Perhaps I have too much expectation, which is probably about perfection, and I need to let go and play more. I love your idea about writing something down and then painting over it. Sounds like a place to start for me. Thank you 💕
@allisondawrant Жыл бұрын
thanks for sharing this , Donna. if you allow yourself to "just play" and not judge it, and remind yourself you can always paint over it- Your voice will come in the process of practicing. think of your creating as little "studies" of sorts, or "inspiration files" and let go of any idea of " this needs to be (blank)"... Each time I paint I remind myself "this is just for me" and some days it's harder than others - but it will help in the long run... You would be surprised how fast your voice will come/or return once you give yourself permission to play. :)

Hello from New Brunswick! I stumbled across this video this morning and had to watch. Your art style is one that I have been practicing for the past few months. I have really found a nice peace in working on a sketchbook and it has helped me with my mental health. My question is: What exactly are those neo-color crayons? What brand, or where can I find them? Thank you so much.
