ICU nurse here- yes we definitely can have some coherent pts. Sometimes depending on the workload of the patients, some nurses will get one pt that’s a little more stable next to someone who may not be stable so that you aren’t running back and fourth all day balancing pressers, sedation, gtts, etc.
