Aimee that is what I thought my dad said that when he called they said that if I’m doing gcse my parents will have to provide the full national curriculum as theirs don’t provide the full national curriculum and I was like no it’s the same as a normal secondary school, anyway thank you it might just be my dad mistaking it :) and do you know how I could go about being removed from mainstream education, I’m in year 10 and don’t feel comfortable in a school environment, I found interhigh and fell in love, do I just register for entry and tell my current school after I get into interhigh like you would a normal school or do you have to tell them before applying to interhigh?
@aimeelal6 жыл бұрын
Since Interhigh is an international online school, they do IGCSEs not GCSEs. IGCSEs don't have coursework like GCSEs. But it's basically the same thing - you'll still take exams at the end of Year 11 and get qualifications. If your parents agree to let you attend Interhigh, they should contact the school and arrange for registration. You can ask the admin people all your questions then. I do believe they offer a trial for a term so you can try it out and see if you enjoy it. It is a brilliant school and I really hope you'll join! :) Let me know how it goes! Aimee x

Thank you so my parents should contact the school and then register for interhigh? And is it ok to start Igcse now since I’m about 4 months into year 10 so I’m worried that I am behind
@aimeelal6 жыл бұрын
@@quaking-t5p Yes. Here's the school's link: interhigh.co.uk/admissions-registration/register-for-entry/ It is possible - you'd have to chat with them about that. I know I did two IGCSes in one year instead of two - it's hard but enjoyable work! I may make a video on how to catch up with schoolwork as it's a thing I often deal with when I'm travelling - so let me know if that could help you in the future! :)

hi I’m not sure if u will see this but I just started being homeschooled but me and my dad r considering this. I’m in Scotland so the years r different. I’m 14 in two weeks so I’m in S2 and go into S3 after summer. I’m not sure what that is in years. I have really bad anxiety and I’m confused on how the live lessons work. do I have to speak or show my face? because I’m not comfortable doing any of them. I also heard that u show ur work when the teacher asks? I don’t understand that, how would u do that? I saw ur other comments replying to people and how u say u can just watch the lesson if u miss it. Is there an attendance thing. for example if I missed every single lesson would anything happen? how many lessons roughly would I get every day as well? sorry for asking a lot of questions
@aimeelal4 жыл бұрын
Hi Leah, only the teacher can use the camera and not all students use the microphone (although in language subjects, this may be necessary, you would have to check with Interhigh if you absolutely do not want to use the mic) but the live lessons are super chill - everyone is really nice and you don't need to be worried about the other kids, they are just focused on their work. :) You submit homework on Interhigh website but your teacher can also share your work in the live lessons using a powerpoint - only with your permission of course. There is an attendance thing, yes, but interhigh are flexible and your parents just need to write an email to the admin when you miss a lesson and they will be fine with it. Yes, the lessons are recorded so you can catch up but I would really recommend going to the live lessons and participating in the chat otherwise you wouldn't be getting the most of Interhigh - the whole point of interhigh is that it's supposed to be interactive. Depending on your grade and your amount of subjects, there are 3-4 lessons a day - for me as an A-level student with 4 subjects, I had max 2 lessons a day.

The live lessons are set by the school so you would have to attend lessons on certain days but you can always rewatch the lesson recording on a different day if you couldn't make it.

@@aimeelal how much does it usually cost?
@aimeelal5 жыл бұрын
@@Damfy interhigh.co.uk/admissions-registration/fees/ - compared to the prices of most international private schools, it is quite cheap! But if it is too expensive for you, do consider other homeschooling options that are cheaper!

Do you know what the difference is between the three subject and the full time packages?
@aimeelal4 жыл бұрын
Three subjects is A-level only, if you were taking GCSEs at Interhigh, you'd be doing more than 3 subjects. There is no 'package' - just term fees.

Can you split your lessons through the day ?

All the live lessons are set for specific times throughout your school-day but there aren't many of them - maybe three a day maximum so you get to choose what subject you want to work on during your personal study time.

do your parents homeschool you or do interhigh do all the teaching for you because my dad was told that he will have to teach me
@aimeelal6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question! Interhigh do all the teaching for you - it's like a normal physical school - we have teachers for every subject who teach us during the live lessons. All my parents do is make sure I'm doing my homework, check up on my grades - just stuff like they would have to do if you went to regular school. Your parents do not have to teach you - Interhigh takes on that role! :)

Can you complete lessons whenever you want

You can rewatch the recorded lessons whenever you want, you can access all the lesson materials (powerpoints etc) when you want and you can submit work when you want. But the lives lessons are scheduled and timed. You can always access the recordings though.

homeschoolchangedmylife I struggle with unmediated severe adhd so you think this would be a good option for me?
@aimeelal5 жыл бұрын
@@marshian__mallow2624 Hi! I don't know much about that condition but I do think Interhigh could help with your adhd - you can attend the live lessons but you can stop whenever you want if you need a break and the other students can't hear or see you unless you use the mic or type in the chat so there's no one to stare or judge - you can attend school from the comfort of a place you feel safe and comfortable in. The Interhigh teachers are very understanding. If you find it too difficult to concentrate, you can always go over the recorded lessons and lesson material later in your own time. You can work at your own pace with homeschooling and I think that could help you a lot!

how do you keep social? See people in real life?
@aimeelal5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! :) The idea that homeschoolers struggle to socialise is a HUGE homeschool stereotype - but it couldn't be further away from reality. Homeschoolers go out more than other people because we have FREEDOM. We're not being kept in cramped classrooms with teachers breathing down our neck. We go out when we want - we see people of all different age groups. Tons of homeschoolers I know do theatre, sports, attend clubs. It's only abused children who are prevented from seeing people "in real life" - this is not homeschooling, it's child abuse - not the same thing! Homeschoolers' social lives are in fact healthier and more natural than those of kids who go to regular schools. Think of any other situation in normal everyday life (at work, on holiday etc) that you will be surrounded by hundreds of people who are all the exact same age as you. Unless you're thinking of a school-orientated setting, there will probably not be a time or place like that (a workplace will have all workers of all sorts of different ages for example) Human social lives are supposed to be diverse - with people of all backgrounds, ages and educations. This isn't the case in schools - this prevents us from having a healthy, diverse social life. And it is unnatural for kids to be surrounded by so many other kids like they are at school. When I was at school, I used to be in classrooms of 30 kids - there was this constant mass communication which I hated - most kids were horrible and bullied the others - I would much rather have a social life where I can choose who I want to surround myself with - family members and friends and people who aren't going to harm me. Homeschooling has transformed and healed my social life in so many different ways.

Interhigh does have an exam centre in Wales for their students but it depends on where you are located. You would need to apply to other schools as an external candidate so you can sit your exams there. I sat my exams at an international school in Geneva - I would just go there and join the school's students in an exam room to do my exam.
