Most of us couldn't hold a candle to you! WOW... beautiful job and video as well!!! GOD Bless you and your family, you have it done right! You are raising amazing children that will carry on your teachings and will be great! As an older retired woman, I am in awe of you!! Wish we were neighbors and friends. I'm 68 had a heart attack last week of January 2023. Currently looking for new Cardiologist! My husband of 50+ years will be turning 74 next month and currently a 4 year cancer survivor. We raise a garden do canning an put things in the frezzer, make homemade meals mostly based on what we raised. W don't have any livestock; husband's family never had a place of their own and no experience with live animals except we did have Rabbits for a while. Sure wish we had a dairy cow for milk, butter and by product of buttermilk. 😊 but these are all things I buy. Love making bread but need a soughdough starter had one years ago by that was back in the days of me working outside the home two children and my drive was an hour twice a day. Our children both currently live in other states 4 to 5.5 hours away . Love your videos and family is everything.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, knowledge, and wisdom. My girlfriend from church told me about your channel a few months ago and I have been watching ever since. I rarely comment but I want you to know that I have learned so much from you about gardening and other things. Also, you have such a good attitude about your life, it shows in your smile as you are speaking. It made me think about my daily attitude and I also want to reflect that joy of the Lord you have so others in my life can benefit from it. You and your family are a great example to follow and I am truly grateful! Thank you!!!

As a suburbanite with 1/4 acre lot and small family garden, no livestock except our house dog, I absolutely LOVED seeing your family’s day in the life! It’s refreshing and inspiring to see your kids wholesome upbringing. Great job having chores for everyone! I’m definitely exhausted watching everything you do to take care of the family, but everyone is involved and helps and looks so happy. Well done Mom!

Thanks for a great day. Retired dairy farmer wife in Wisconsin watching and enjoying you videos. I am still hanging wash outside, froze 63 pints of sweet corn this past week and pickled 18 pints of hot peppers. And waiting for tomatoes to ripen as they will be the last of the big garden haul to can. Brings many good memories of raising our two daughters on the farm. We have plenty of sauerkraut from last year and pickled beets so no need to can this year. Will can tomatoes until all my jars are full. And I am mostly barefoot too! ❤

Each time I see a video that includes the kids, it looks like they've grown a foot! I remember those days when my boys were constantly starving! I was very thankful that most years we had a great garden, and I made bread everyday, and always had a cinnamon raisin loaf in the oven when school let out. That with Honey held them over thru homework time. Back then, Bread Machines had just come out, and in the summer with the heat, I used that a lot! My kids are all married now, and have families of their own, and each one, still does what I did when they grew up, along with some new things brought in with their spouses. It's wonderful to watch all your hard work as parents come full circle! We home school now, however... because every States school System has become what we feel is Indoctrination and not education. My 7 with their spouses each live in a different State, and it's fun to visit and see America and my Grandkids at the same time!

Ruth, This gets more ridiculous, my name is Brenda and you have a cow, named, Brenda. That is neat! So great you have a farm for your kids. And these skills are good for them to learn and have. You and your husband are doing them a big favor by making them learn these skill and chores, because you are teaching them how to work and work hard. My parents did the samething with us four kids! I give you so much credit with all that you accomplish in one day with a large family! When my children were small I thought I was busy, but I guess not after seeing what you do! I love your garden and all the beautiful flowers - my husband and I are in our 60's and just moved to upstate New York and are starting our own homestead on 20+ acres. I hope some day to have a beautiful vegetable, flower and herb garden such as yours - certainly not as large because there are only 2 of us. I thoroughly enjoy your videos - thank you for sharing!

I’ve followed you on Instagram for quite a while, but rarely take the time to watch KZbin- tonight my toddler seemed to have gas pain or something keeping her awake and I decided to try a video for distractions, the cartoons didn’t work, but you and the animals sure did! She very much enjoyed making the sounds for each animals she saw! I love your way of life and wish I could be more like you in so many ways- thanks for being a great role model in the sea of mediocrity that is the internet! I know I’m just another random commenter, but I often refer to you, when I talk to my family/friends as “My favourite Instagrammer” and wish I could be your neighbour or little sister 🤣

I didnt know that about picking corn in the morning and sugars and starch! Every year I buy a couple 50 lb bags of corn from our local farmer. It sits at LEAST a few days before I can process all of it for the next year. I've always wondered why it doesn't taste the way home grown corn should taste, especially when we know the practices of our local farmer! So basically, it won't ever taste the way it should because I won't be able to get 100 pounds blanched fast enough. Ugh. I still appreciate your knowledge! I'm even more amazed at how much work you get done every day! ❤

I really enjoy watching your videos. We have our granddaughters 11 & 15 with us about every day - they also live on a farm and help out a lot with farm chores, which they enjoy because they have 4H projects. But, they are not real good about helping mom inside with the house chores, so I’ve really been using your children as examples…..I think we are getting somewhere. When they go home I always tell them to “be like the Zimmerman”. We also live in Iowa , about 120 miles south of you so that makes us even more interested in following you. We have a pretty good garden this year and things are finally reaching the harvesting time. Thank for all the great instructions and advice, you and your family are truly a blessing.

❤I'm glad to see other families have a corn day, too! We have a silker machine that uses roller brushes and water to pull the silk off the corn - it's a fabulous time saver! Oh boy, Ruthann. We too had corn day as I was growing up on the farm in Minnesota and it was the hottest, longest day day, lol. Not sure we had it even close to done before noon, so kudos to your organization and the family pulling it together as one. The skills you teach will last a lifetime as you know. I have lost myself in your videos, reliving my own farm life experience to the point that I don’t want your day to end because then my reminiscing ends too. I know the force a calf can have when feeding, the smell of the barn walking through door in the morning and certainly how a headstrong cow behaves when a lesser experienced milker starts to sit down, lol. Thank you for being who you are and sharing your life with all of us. You enrich us and we need that.

I have one child, who now as an adult , feels that I was sooo strict as a parent that I traumatized her with my need for a clean and orderly home and the chores she had to do, which consisted of only washing dishes in the evenings and cleaning the bathroom once a week starting at the age of 11 to 18 when she moved out. And now married with a 3yr old and a tiny house, she blames me/the trauma for her being a slob. I never hit my child, never to rarely yelled nor hovered. My sister thinks I was way too soft as a parent. My mother told me that I was a great parent and better than her, and my mother is not one to compliment anyone over the age of 5. All this to say that I'm in awe of your parenting and your crew and how much they participate and do. You are amazing at editing! Hat's off to you.

I love watching your videos on Saturdays while I'm making bread. 😍 I don't get up early to milk cows (yet), but I do what I can in my stage of life. Your videos are a great weekly reminder of what I'm working towards. Thank you!

After harvesting beans and cukes and canning pickles. Sat down to have breakfast (at 3pm) and watch your day and you wore me out. I need a nap and you should take one too.

My husband watches you and I just saw one of your videos. You are the hardest working woman ever! I'm the furthest thing from a farm woman but I watch you and I am in awe of how sweet and hard working and just how you are just such a beautiful soul. May you continue to spread such joy.

I'm pretty new at this. I value your example - being a role model. You live a wholesome lifestyle and you keep active throughout your day - that is praiseworthy. God Bless you with health, wealth, and strength!

That was an amazing day!! You sure got so much done and have so much energy, which I attribute to the healthy foods you all eat. I love that you explain when you should do things and why. I’ve learned about corn and carrots. Thank you!!

That brings back memories! My daddy would pick 100 dozen ears early in the morning, and Mother and I would cut the corn off the cob with knives, then scrape the "cream" out. Yum!

I recently found your KZbin channel and I am enjoying watching all the videos. I, too, was raised in a Mennonite home and, like you, have left that culture, but still hold the values and work ethic near and dear. Thank you for letting us share your life and livelihood.
