Suffering from PTSD, horses are my sanctuary. They help me cope with so much. Right now I have 2 horses I'm backing, that 3yrs ago, I saw and helped them foal out. To be trusted again, with their babies, is a great honour to me. Step by step, they are coming along well. I thank you for bringing out anxiety into the light. Best Regards from Ontario, Canada, Jenn.

great vid, i know how you feel with anxity and depression, please stay strong, you are young, beutiful and successful, i have lost 2 of my sisters (lost one 4 years ago and the other in jan this year, both were unespected, have also lost my stepdad from bowel cancer 2 years ago and i lost my mum, again unexspectedly in aug last year. i have had a mental breakdown where i tried to rip my own face off, i made a right mess of it, thankfully all healed now, my docs are treating me with mirtazapine, they help a little but not much. i am still struggling to cope and im still having thoughts of hurting my self just out of the sudden anger that boils up, my hubby told me that the only time he has seen me really smile is when im talking about my family or my horse i used to have as a teenager many years ago so he had made an exec desission to buy me a horse for my birthday on the 30th april but we are going to pic her up on the 29th :D i have always had a dream to breed dressage horses and hopefully get a good breeding stallion out of it :) so i have choosen a tb mare, 16.1hh, 10 year old as my broodmare and im hoping to be able to use a stallion called 'Devivio' but we shall see what happens. much love from lancashire xxx

I always put my number on my stirrups! My horse doesn’t do well with them on her head and ours are the elastic ones. It works really well as long as you don’t have peacock stirrups.

It makes so much sense to have them go in and out of the arena when starting so they don’t relate that as stress in having someone on their back! Goodness I need to take some notes for when I start the young ones

Congrats you looked good,DO NOT LEAVE US FOR A MONTH..keep positive it's a great feeling when you have a good day,I had one yesterday with my daughter..she is really nervous about jumping solid cross country fences and we put one together in the field yesterday she said no she won't jump it she will refuse..I knew full well her horse was capable it was her nerves..she refused it 3 times but only because my daughter lacked the confidence to get her over it..so I said look come on you know she can do it and I believe in you you are more than capable of jumping it..and she did,i felt so proud that she trusted my judgment that she could do it and after that she jumped it again and again,and that's the highest she has ever jumped as well😊💖 zora looks fab btw and I am also a fan of that black subaru in the car park lol🤣

Zora reminds me so much of my boy Loki. He he's good as gold to mount and walk but he has moments where he stops and decides that we aren't going to move again. He isn't nasty when I ask him to move forwards again. He just reverses and then moves forwards. My 4th time on Loki and we went for a hack with with a person on the ground and another horse. My next obstacle is trying to overcome the excitement of the outdoor school. You really help me reassure myself about the fact that doing him my way was the best thing possible. I've had so many people try and dictate how I should do him. Now they're telling me how much he's come on and that I'm doing a good job.

So happy you’ve had a good, positive day! Lovely vlog. You always make me smile 😊 love your way with the horses. Also love when a fluffy dogs paws and legs get wet and go tiny 🤪😊 can I ask is there a specific reason you choose to be on the asphalt with the young ones’ first trot? I come off easily and asphalt is not my preferred landing surface (I have gotten better about sticking tight) 😊🤗👍🏻

Flat Junk if you have laid the foundations the first time you do things shouldn’t be tricky: I work them on the hard as I’m confident in the way I have started them, and they will take confidence from me when on the hard ground. If they do go to be silly they will soon learn the concrete isn’t the place to do it 😊

I know breeding mo may not ever be on the cards again, but she is such a good mother that perhaps having her be a broodmare to adopted foals would be a good option, theres always a cute little foal in need somewhere and maybe you and mo can be the help they need just like Didi.

Lovely to see you having a really good day! Agreed that anxiety comes & goes, on the bright side, it means the good days feel that much better because of the absence of anxiety. :) Really enjoyed seeing all the young ones making progress, and Deedee is so tall! One question - you mentioned you get a bit scared getting on horses sometimes because you don't know what they're going to do (paraphrasing). Why do you get on? Why not stick with groundwork until you're confident they can handle the next step? (My limited understanding is that the purpose of groundwork is to teach the horse how to behave so it knows (more or less) what to do once you're on their back)

The minute I see you’ve uploaded a video I HAVE to watch it immediately. I’m not in the “horsey world” like I used to be thanks to spinal surgery so your videos are my fix 😁 Zora’s coming along sooo well! I love the way she carries her head when you ride her, she’s so accepting and with her trusting “if you say it’s safe I’ll give it a go” attitude it’s a pleasure and an honour to watch her progress ( and I don’t care what you say about selling her in the future blah blah blah... yeah right who you trying to kid? She’s going nowhere, she’s going to be a fixture and fitting and I have no doubt she will grow old with you and become your family heirloom antique just like mine did for me. But don’t worry I won’t tell anyone 😉☺️🤣) Thanks for taking the time out of your LONG days to put together these videos, you really do need to look into how to make them monetised slotting in the odd advert so that you can make a few ££ whilst your at it tho!!

Kathy Jones Parry why not get a companion pony
@smurfmonster5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately because of my back I can’t lift anything heavier than a half full water bucket and if I got jolted I’d be in agony for days. I have some days where I literally can’t move so I don’t feel I’d be able to commit 7 days 52 wks a year to care for a horse. I definitely wouldn’t be able to do it to the level I’d want to (and used to pre back problems) which would drive me NUTS because I’m a bit ( ok a LOT!) OCD when it comes to cleaning, grooming, tack and stable management 🤦🏻♀️. My stables, tack and horses used to ALWAYS be spotless, my house however was (and is) a tip but the stables and horses were immaculate!! It would be mental torture to see little things that needed doing and not be able to get them done. Thanks for the suggestion and taking the time to reply to my comment tho 😊 xx

Kathy Jones Parry aww that’s kinda sad at least you never lost your passion that is truly inspirational
@smurfmonster5 жыл бұрын
Aww thanks, it’s really kind of you to say that xx I consider myself lucky because as a child I had the pony of a lifetime that stayed with me until she was pts due to old age at 37 and before I needed my spinal surgery I found the horse of my dreams and had 6 yrs with her. It all became too much and she went to a fantastic loan home who eventually bought her just before my op so I didn’t have to worry about where she was or what was happening to her. Most people don’t get to own one super special horse whereas I was blessed to have TWO before my back said no more and it had to end so I can’t complain at all 😊

I have a question. Is there a reason why you do the first rides on young horses on the concrete rather than the arena? Ive never seen anyone do that so I wasnt sure if its less spooky on harder ground or easier to get their footing. Just genuinely curious 😊
@BluePeace25 жыл бұрын
Keri Holman the last rider we had for young horses did the first rides in the isle of our barn because it’s more controlled with less distractions. We always had someone to lead then one to encourage if needed.

Keri Holman in earlier videos she explained why she starts young horses on hard surface. If you watch back about a year you’ll find the answer 😅

Eric doesn't like his belt. Have you heard of the flexigirth? They claim that they can be used looser so the horses are more accepting. Don't know if it's true it has mixed reviews and I haven't tried them but it'll be great it you can be the test dummy.

What was Obi's injury that he had to heal for a year? Tendons? Poor baby, he tries SO hard. Next show, since you both get nerved up ( I did too) maybe try talking to him for a minute before mounting & telling him / asking him what you need. Honestly, w/ your & Obi's relationship - I think he would listen & try! I don't know who is leaving thumbs down!?? I ❤ your videos!!
