HOW TO GET TO TASHIROJIMA
Take a bus from JR Ishinomaki station to Ishinomaki Port. From Ishinomaki Port take the Ajishimaline Ferry (about a 40 min ride) and get off at Nitoda Port on Tashirojima.
PRICE
One way: Adult 1230 Yen, Child 615 Yen
(The ferry makes 2-3 round trips a day depending on the season)
FOOD ON THE ISLAND
- There are a couple vending machines that sell drinks.
- Look for the signs that say Marin Raifu (マリンライフ) on the island, they will lead you to the one place that sells meals!
OTHER TIPS
- Bring cash! I don't remember seeing any ATMs around
- Bring food for the cats! Preferably wet food, I felt they lacked hydration
- It's really freakin hot there in the summer, bring lots of drinks and sunscreen
- Don't miss your ferry! There's only a few trips a day and not much accommodation on the island, so you probably don't wanna get stuck there

Welcome to Sendai! When one cat of the island dies, the toy of the cat shrine puts one. The road is given priority to cats, too, and the car stops until cats cross it. The cats are taken good care of very much by islanders.

The island looks so peaceful, where i live there's a boat for cats instead of an island, there are also a few dogs on it but mostly abused cats that were left behind, sad situation :/ also lots of kittens. It's nice to see people all around the world doing something to support animals. Great video!

I would love to visit this place, hahah. They remind me of the strays that live at Kyoto Seika University! There are two groups of cats that I knew of, one which was of about 5 black cats near where people would park their mopeds and bikes, and than these two cats that were always together by these side stairs. Everyday I would see them hanging around these specific areas, so cute! They are like honorary members of the school.

If you ever happen to be in Greece, you should definitely check out the island of Hydra. One, it's gorgeous, and two, SO MANY CATS. :'3 Tashirojima reminds me a lot of it. SO CUTE.

I bought four 20 lb bags of dry cat food, two full double bags of canned food and 4, 25 lb bags of litter at Walmart last week. Now most of that wasn't for me, only one bag of food and one bag of litter and six cans were actually for me and my little herd. But on the way out the receipt checkers said "WOW lots of kitties huh?" They tried to put me on the spot to say how many. So I made a joke and said "I have a cat ranch just outside of town and we supply all the local Taco trucks!" I do the same thing almost every week. They should expect it by now.
