I love how Snowy thinks he is a fully fledged working dog, he has amazing attitude in trying to keep up with big team on the hills and his hesitation to commands to the others seems to be “what did he say, what did he say?”, cool dog.

Snowy is a machine, those little legs just go and go and he runs around with what looks like a smile on his dial. My parents had a sheep station in outback Western Australia and I harked back to those days when you were twitching the wire, one handed when you shut the gate. My backside would have been kicked by both my father and grandfather had I left the ends of the wire sticking out because “there are lots of eyes at that level”, I’m sure you tucked it in but it was a good memory for me that popped into my head. Thanks for the vid, I look forward to them each time.

Another Great video, well done. My Grandfather always used “tie wire” on our farm to hold gates closed & to “fix” nearly everything else. Brought back memories. Farm is definitely looking good from the rain you’ve had. Just a question: Any reason why you don’t have any female working dogs? Enjoy the concert.

Great to see plenty of grass. A huge change since I was there a month ago. Shows what rain will do to the land.

You're so lucky. You're getting some rain . We are so dry, no grass growing just brown not much greenery around

We have been very lucky. Where abouts are you

Pasture growth with the rain looks excellent. I'm interested in whether having plenty of feed makes you less likely to sell to store. I presume it's a balancing act, trying to predict prices store vs cull. I'm always learning from your vids.
@kiwifarmernz17 күн бұрын
People will be holding onto stock but we have hoggets ewes and beef calves to put the feed into as well as hay to make so are still selling store. The prices have increased which is a huge positive of all the grass around.

Here’s an idea....Make a holding pen up on the hills (saves the stress of mustering on hot sunny days) Pop in say 500 ewes...get the helicopter 🚁 to fly over 2-3 times depositing fly dip on them....Sorted. You’re welcome 😅.

Been thinking about building a pen. Oh and I can buy a spray drone.

I wonder how many people when they grizzle at the price of lamb realise the hard work that goes into growing them. ?😀

I grizzle about the greedy corporations that rip the farmer off and the consumer in one foul swoop & the greedy government that rips everyone off.

@ I remember when i was beef farming getting $3.00 a kg for a beast (minus innards) , on the other hand home-kill is better steak than you’ll buy anywhere else . I think the current value is around $5.30kg.

Busy, busy. Lovely to hear Alfie again. We sure do have grass. Wonder how it will affect lamb weights and prices for those of us who sell later. Who need gates latches, when we have no 8 wire 😙
@kiwifarmernz18 күн бұрын
It should lift the lamb price. The latest prices are over 4 dollars per kg.

What bread of dog do you have and use on the farm.
@kiwifarmernz16 күн бұрын
Huntaways are the loud ones. It's a New Zealand breed. Cuz is a heading dog and Alfie is a border collie.
