I see that the cattle in nz are as lively as in the uk. A good crush and run helps especially on your own. Do you ever compare the weights of the cows to there calfs through rearing or at weaning.

I have done it last year but need to tag at birth for that.

@kiwifarmernz I bet you are mate 👍, one's family requires time away every year, I worked 100 weeks for 42 years, and was completely worn-out at 58, believe me, all the best,

Frankly, your farm is purely practical based with the use of such sophisticated machinery and that can make production very high. In Africa, Ghana, no machinery is used in animal farms. I love watching you. Kodua❤

Thanks mate. It's a case of using technology to reduce the workload because labour and wages are so expensive here.

You could put another rail on the left hand side so that they don't get tempted to jump

Yes I need to do that.

The bulls that are trying to turn the herd around usually get a one-way truck ride. Camera mount - there are a few different camera mount systems: shoulder straps (like backpack straps without the pack) with camera clips, necklace with camera magnet attachment, motocross helmet with camera mount etc that might allow a bit more two hands farming.

When you use the tow and fert it would be nice if you striped it so that we could see the difference that it makes, would be interesting to see from the drone.

So have you used the data from the cows and then compared it to the calves. Eg the cows that are gaining more weight having smaller calves? Maybe you could do us a quick bit and show what’s doing well and the correlations. Like calf sex and sire and calving date?
@kiwifarmernz14 күн бұрын
I would be didn't tag the calves at birth this year so don't have the calf cow data.

The two cows that misbehaved in the race appeared to have the lowest daily weight gain, it might be worth observing the herd weight gain performance and individual temperament, a cow with bad temperament usually breeds crazy calves
