Fun fact: since you made the Central American comparison, coconuts are actually _not_ native to the Americas. The ones in the Caribbean were introduced by the Portuguese from India. While the ones in the Pacific coast of the Americas (especially in Mexico) were introduced by the Spanish... from the Philippines. \o/ So next time you see a coconut in Acapulco or something, know that its great great great great grandparent once grew on Philippine shores.

That's crazy! How'd ya know that? 😅 Makes sense as to why I thought they look the same thenn

@28-Day Keto Challenge are you serious? PH is home to 52,177 described species and over half of them are endemic including 1510 threatened plant species 😅😅
@AngryKittens5 жыл бұрын
@28-Day Keto Challenge I have no idea what you are talking about. I've never heard NatGeo say anything like that. Like clementdula said, there are tons of endemic species in the Philippines. From orchids to trees. Neither did I say, coconuts were endemic to the Philippines. They're native to tropical Asia _including_ the Philippines, but they are not exclusive to the Philippines. I just said that before the colonial period, there were no coconuts in the Americas. And that the coconuts there now (in the Pacific coast) came from the Philippines.
@AngryKittens5 жыл бұрын
@@BackpackingBananas Just an unhealthy obsession with science and history. Coconuts were carried by Europeans to Americas during the colonial period. In exchange, the Americas gave us Old Worlders corn, chilis, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, pineapples, various fruit trees, and so on. Speaking of which, bananas are also not native to the Americas. As well as citruses (including oranges and lemons). Both came from Southeast Asia. Kinda weird imagining the Caribbean and tropical America without bananas and coconuts, isn't it? :P But that was the landscape of American beaches just a few centuries ago.

Hi Christianne! As always you are a great swimmer especially when you were swimming underwater and swimming down to the bottom of deeper water! I also loved moving down to the bottom of deep water with you when you swam to the bottom! I loved seeing the waterline showing when going all the way underwater with you and coming all the way out of the water a couple times especially when you jumped in the water that one time in this video! I loved seeing the waterline showing when going all the way underwater and staying underwater for a while seeing you swim underwater and hearing the underwater sound which sounds nice to hear, and then seeing the waterline showing a couple times when coming all the way out of the water as well!🥰🐟😍🦈👍💦🐋❤️🐬💧🌊💕🐳👙

I'm still amazed at how many different places there are in the PI. I always thought of the PI as a small island country... But the little islands are all beautiful and look like paradise! I could see myself relaxing there for a few days in the hammock with a nice drink! I hope there are more PI videos.

Thank you for an awesome idea! Taking photo of an item you are renting is such a clever way to avoid a future trouble. People should do that in indonesia as some of my mates who visited bali got scammed by renting a scooter and when they return it to the owner they were put under pressure and interrogated over small scratch which was already in the scooter before they even rent it.

Super! 😁 ...almost 8 Billion people in the world and it's still possible to find a little piece of paradise to call your own. If only for a short while... Heart rate suitably slowed by yet another bananariffic video, good luck in finding some peace in El Nido to bring to us... and if that fails, we'll settle for the yellow swimsuit! 😉 😁 😚

I still found el nido chilled, I stayed at outpost which was lovely and the atmosphere during the day is deffo chilled even the day tours to the beach are. And the boat tour was aaahhhmazing they played some drinking games which was great fun but again all in all pretty chilled. The hostel drinking nights weren’t too crazy either I would say compared to some.

The glowing plankton was bioluminescence. We have it here in Florida in the summer-fall months. It’s caused by a chemical reaction although the exact reason for it is unknown. Many scientists think it could be a defense mechanism.
