The best visit to Egypt if you want to visit the beaches is in the summer in May, June, July, August and September. As for visiting Giza, Luxor and Aswan, it would be in the winter in the rest of the months of the year.

We had the exact same experiences on our trip to Cairo- but with the plane. All the people on our tour refused to pay for the extra boat ride, camel / horse ride, papyrus or perfume, and our tour guide got really angry. We had far too little time in the museum, pyramids and Sphinx. I think all organised tours are the same. Full of scam tricks.

FYI: The tour companies and private guides receive 50% of the sales that any papyrus shop and perfume shop make from the tourists that they have agreed to take there. That is why the tour companies bring you there to waste your time. If you want to see the pyramids, you need to go in the morning and alone without a tour. Same thing with the museums... alone and in the morning.

Thank you for the video. I appreciate how honest you were. I will be doing this same trip from Hurghada in a few weeks. I am not really looking to such a long trip and seeing all the scammers, but I really have to see the Pyramids whilst I'm in Egypt. I was also unsure about paying extra for the Nile cruise and the entrance, because what do you do if the rest of your group go, but you just stand around by the bus? lol.

The term scam is a little harsh. Nobody is trying to steal your money and give you nothing in return. But you do have to understand that the entire country relies on tourism. Think of it more as upselling than scamming. Like when you buy a car, the dealer tries to get you to upgrade to the leather interior, the better wheels and the paint protection. Of course its a bit of a surprise if you havent experiemced it before.

We didn't mind the fact that they brang us in places to support local businesses. We mind the fact that they cut our time on the pyramids and not let us enter the sphinx at all. That was a total scam.

@ReAlTravels_ Yes that I wouldn't have been happy with! It's very poor planning, as the closing times have not changed for years! They are set by the Ministry for Antiquities. A decent tour planner would have taken you to the pyramids first, then lunch, then the museum last. I have experienced both sides, having been on a tour, but then having experienced it by going with family instead.

Tourists would return more often and give a positive image of Egypt. But I can understand everyone who is annoyed by these touts and scammers in Tourist places.

Enjoyed your video. You should rather book a private trip with a licensed tour operator. Two years ago we had a trip to Luxor and we were completely free to roam around without anyone trying to scam us.
