My Grandfather Landed on this Beach in WWII as a member of The U.S./Canada First Special Service Force (The Black Devil's). He was attached to General Mark Clarke's 5th American Army. He also participated in The Battle of Monte La Difensa,The Gustav Line,The Winter Line The Mussolini Canal & The Liberation of Rome.

You should! The area definitely worth visiting. They also have an interesting museum there called the Anzio Beachhead Museum (Museum dello sbarco di Anzio), that has a lot of interesting WW2 stuff. So you may want to visit this one as well 😉 Cheers!

My Father was on a British cruiser HMS Spartan that was involved in the battle for Anzio its roll was to bombard the beach and anti aircraft support .The Spartan was hit by a German glider bomb 67 sailors were killed .
