Yeah, I always found him quite intimidating on the court (doesn't smile, always looks like he wanna kill his opponent), but outside the court, he is a really nice guy.

Joel’s a cool guy, he’s just always been super focused when it comes to his games and attitude on and off court.

US Open 2022 , remember having a chat with him while watching Ali play. I was volunteering at the event and he was so approachable, sweet and talked like a normal person without any attitude. So much respect.

Hi Paul, I’m 70 in a few months my squash playing days are long over but, I still watch lots of squash on KZbin as much as I can find. You are one of my favourite players I love your hard work ethic your very sportsman like behaviour in particular as some of your losses must be hard on you. Keep up the great work I look forward to seeing you up inside the top 5 where you belong. Thank you Joel for everything you give to this great sport!

@@hugosvenstedtWell done, the training is pretty tough! It took years to properly diagnose the issue and after a couple of months of training to fix it, covid struck and I've not picked it up again. I made good progress though and if I stuck to it I can see how I would have fully recovered. 49 yo

After we'd finished filming, we have it on good authority that Joel ordered a decent amount more food that evening. There was very little time to eat between the squash, gym, squash and boxing sessions 😅
