In place of my planned report on the (cancelled) 2020 Kashiwa Basho, I take you back to last year's Kashiwa sumo event and my memorable meetings with sumo figures past and present, wrapped in imagery from Japan's many intriguing faces.

I like Kotoeko. Him and Shohozan are that representation of rikishi of old before the 70s. Always struck me as a pretty self-conscious kind of guy from his mannerism and interviews.
