As someone who hasn't touched FNaF since UCN (due to lack of VR making me gradually lose interest since I couldn't play the new game and wanted to wait until I could), I still think the only way any of what Scott did makes sense is if he really is just trying to mess with us. I was one of those people who thought he'd planned everything from the start, or at least since the third game, since before he deconfirmed it, it was the only explanation I could think of. Why else would he tease Springtrap surviving the fire if he didn't plan for him to come back? Why would he add the box in FNaF 4 if he didn't plan to open it? Why did he, when he very obviously could've wrapped up the bite of 87 with FNaF 4, make it the bite of 83 instead if he wasn't saving the bite of 87 for an even later reveal? Why would he not address either question in SL if he wasn't planning a game after THAT? But then when he gave the interview, saying he only came up with the idea to make each sequel after the previous game was already out, I realized he only left those plot threads open just to keep people talking about the game or something stupid like that. The first two games are the only ones I never had this problem with. FNaF 1 was a self-contained experience. The most you could learn is that the animatronics were haunted, and that's all the backstory you need. The extent of FNaF 2's lore was finding out the game was a prequel, and all the plot details that came from the minigames. The only thing that could hint to games outside that one was the mention of the diner, and even that, when you think about it, only really served to give us backstory about Golden Freddy's origin, and why he's not "normal". Neither game felt like it was leaving questions unanswered, or that they had to be setting up for something later on. Every time a game after the first two came out, I just couldn't bring myself to believe Scott would end the series when it was "so obvious" he was setting up for a sequel. When I learned that had been his intent every single time, I stopped caring about the lore altogether.

Honestly I don't get the logic of "he changed suits" when this one is actively worse. I think the more logical answer would've been making the PS springtrap a more deteriorated FN3 model. Show more of the corpse, make it charred and black, hard to see in the vents, more mechanical details to show how little is left of him. SB's new body makes sense since it's really only his skull left and he lost the arm and presumably even more after his SECOND fire, but constantly swapping bodies just feels counterintuitive.

Springtrap’s just…scarier tbh. Though part of me wonders if Cawthorn just put an endo in Spring to not give away the ending immediately + assets he can actually produce, since no lore implies a spring suit can hold a person AND an endo concurrently. Spring trap suit + actual anatomically correct corpse inside? -shiver-
@Puddor3 жыл бұрын
Might be talkin’ out me arse here bc I’m unfamiliar with the books and some extended lore but the tapes in FNAF 3 always gave me the impression that the Spring suits were interchangeably costumes and animatronic skins, with the connective wiring able to be wound back and hidden in the suit construction so a human could fit. Endos…aren’t small. There’s barely enough room for a single (GROWN) human in a suit, let alone a human + endo… …and in that same vein how would a Spring suit have ‘programming’? There’s no motherboard or CPU, that’s in the endos. Is there some ‘william ended up forcibly merged with an endo bc he managed to climb inside a suit that already had an endo inside it and the spring locks triggered and killed him even tho those locks would already be undone because they’d be attached to the endo’ that I’m missing here? 😒

@EpsilonD23 жыл бұрын
@@Puddor There will be a poorly written TL:DR at the end. They're called Springlock Suits because you use springs to, for lack of a better term, smoosh the Endo flat so a human can crawl in and use it as a suit. Although due to whatever reason, any, ANY, amount of moisture + pressure would release the Springlocks, unsmooshing the Endo, and causing a very painful death to any human inside. In SL, I think its the 4th night(?) it has you constantly cranking the locks of a Springlock suit that is coming unlocked with you in while you wait for other employees to come help you. The moisture was likely from Michael being trapped in there, probably sweating and the only thing that stopped him from getting sprung was Baby. The Suit William crawled into had an Endo in it that had been flattened, but due to the leaky roof dripping water onto it for who knows how long, plus his overconfident laughing, caused the Springlocks to fail, springing the Endo Skeleton into every part of William. The Endo head caving into the back of his skull. The Endo Torso crushing through his spine and the back of his ribs, rupturing his lungs, stomach, liver, etc. The Endo limbs breaking his arms and legs, causing him to fall to the ground. Not to mention how the spikes/hooks and springs likely still connected to the Endo parts also punctured through before the Endo did, hint why in Fnaf 3 he was able to stand up a few seconds before getting crushed. TL:DR Springlock Suits, Endo goes Flat because of Springs that lock it into place so Humans can crawl in with Endo. Moisture + Pressure = Bad Time Squish Crunch Splat Human Endo Crunchy Smoothie for overconfident W. Afton.

I like the idea of all of the extra bones on Scraptrap not actually being his own. What I think would make his design more horrific is if those bones belonged to another springlock failure, and Afton is now wearing the suit that someone else died in.
@absoluteaffirmative3 жыл бұрын
Wait, I always thought that since Afton died in the springtrap suit, and the fact that over 30 frickin years most of it rotted away, his corpse would’ve stuck to the metal (since with the locks closing in, they sliced into his body and couldn’t be removed) I personally like the design of taking Springtrap and adding more wear and tear, since ‘Scraptrap’ makes no sense in my mind

I don't believe he switched suits, mainly because being Springlocked means having the suit literally fuse with your body and dig all the way into your bones making them almost impossible to take off, so I think Scraptrap is the result of the OG suit surviving the fire. This makes the design even WORSE for me. None of the wounds in the suit are in the same place, he suddenly has the suit's feet now instead of just human bits in metal endo feet, and the suit (despite being what I believe to be the same burned suit from FNAF 3) is suddenly brighter in colour instead of darker. Honestly, I feel like they should've taken the FNAF 3 model, beat the shit out of it, tear off parts of the animatronic, make it darker and add some more flesh and bone on the inside to fix the damn Scraptrap design. In fact, they did! Fucking BURNTRAP is a much better design.

Whilst this is a great redesign and I appreciate your points, my preference would still be to just take Springtrap, apply some of the existing damaged aspects of Scrap Trap and some of your changes, such as adding a more realistic mummified corpse inside the suit, and most importantly, make it look like it had actually been in the Fazbear Fright fire. Imo he absolutely positively needs to look burned. Where the shell looks more like a polished springbonnie but at the same time afton's jaw just looked very polished in there that it just was unbelievable. I personally Would've been fine if they at least removed a bit of the jaw and made the bones more yellow/brown-ish while the veins, nerves and arteries looked like a mixture of black and dark blue/dark red with torn parts kn the middle just to signify how the man's body has progressed throughout the years and that his soul is still present, but his human self is just a lifeless and useless parts of him that he has no choice but bear it since the broken endoskeleton has been wrapped and kept formally by his muscles and skin. Also I did like additions such as extra protection on the remains of his organs in the chest and also extra gears on his back bone just to clip it steadily so that if his parts get ripped off, these back bone structures can hold the shell intact while the muscles and intestines just leaves the whole body

I really like your redesign, and I’m glad finally someone is pointing out those weird blocky bumps all over his body. *They’re so weird.* The redesign you went with makes him look decrepit and frail while also lanky and menacing, like some cryptic that roams around sewers shanking children. My only problem with it would be the sharp teeth at the bottom since I don’t really see how those would fly in a kids restaurant. Personally, I’ve always taken the “take the core concept but radically change it” approach whenever I try to redesign him. I’ve had this idea in my head for a really long time which I don’t want to get into yet, but it sorta is an AU that remixes the series to be more fit for the format I’m choosing to present it in, and FNaF 3 is essentially just gonna be replaced by Springtrap being brought to a boardwalk, he fucks shit up, Mike finds him, they split, etc etc. Because of this, when the “FNaF 6” chunk appears, I want to make it seem as if William was intentionally trying to make himself not look recognizable, so I change up a lot. His arm is still gone, but he still has a lot of robot parts in him (notably his legs and a chunk of his torso). His torso and head resemble a Chuck E. Cheese mascot with a flat cutesy expression and a very bulky build.

My personal headcanon for his design was that the first fire did so much damage to him, he was actually falling apart and it became harder to get around. He lost all of his original Springtrap outer suit and instead, replaced it with bits and pieces from other springsuits. I agree with you on how Scrafton looks infinitely better during the salvage parts because he's shrouded in darkness. Honestly, I've seen so many redesigns for Springtrap that I assume many others have too that fnaf6 wasn't going to meet many people's expectations. Sorry for rambling.

In the final cutscene in the custom night of Sister Location, when Springtrap is revealed, we see that his pelvis is missing. It's clear that the fire damaged his suit, so he obviously fixed himself up. Another thing to note, is that Aftons Fnaf 6 form has more bone than flesh. So fire clearly can damage him, it just wasn't enough. Even Fnaf Security Breach shows us Burntrap with only his skull and small flesh tendents in the endo. So clearly the Fnaf 6 fire did enough where William's body isn't fully there anymore, so the endo is a necessity.

I'm guessing the reason the human parts look so consistently shoddy on Springtrap's designs is because you're not really supposed to see them by themselves. They're supposed to poke out of the suit; thus all the weird fleshy bits that stick out for no reason. Those are the parts that stay visible when you put the suit over the top. It's not a perfect solution - but given you'd NEVER see the full human body in normal gameplay, I don't really blame Scott for doing it that way. I work for an indie dev studio right now, and one thing I've learned is that you come up with some WEIRD solutions sometimes to make the game do what you want.

For me, i like the idea for Scraptrap, but the execution is what let's it down. Springtrap is more like he's hiding a dark secret inside the suit, only visible for brief moments where you can peak inside. They are fused together but it's still pretty easy to distinguish the suit exterior from the human inside. Scraptrap on the other hand feels more like a perfect blend, the corpse is almost just as visible as the suit, and i agree he's shaped more humanlike. If you think of Scraptrap more like he's a zombie, i think the design is much more likeable. The half closed eye, the huge missing patches, missing limbs, bones and flesh showing through, the ripped up mouth, dead eyes, etc, both the suit and the body sell this effect, a perfect blend, the zombie animatronic.
@personunnamedREAL2 жыл бұрын
The whole “afton switched his suit” thing, as far as I can tell, just isn’t correct. Of course, the actual answer isn’t too great, that being that scott just wanted to redesign springtrap and didn’t care enough to canonically explain his new appearance, or just hoped he would retcon springtrap’s old appearance or something like that, but even if that isn’t a great answer, it still makes more sense than getting out of the suit and finding a completely different one, because, just why?

It certainly doesn't have to mean you did anything good; and plenty of far more talented people than Scott have lived their entire lives without ever being rich. There is no actual correlation between talent and success. With that said, Scott obviously does understand his market - because he managed to make his franchise super popular, and sustain that over time. It may have started as sheer luck, but he did manage to hold onto it. But if that was your argument, that should have been your argument. I don't think he did that, I think what he did is just change some parts of the original springtrap suit (especially the ones more damaged by the fire) but leaving the main suit there, so that I think is he didn't change suits at all, he just replaced the most damaged parts of the original suit by new ones, and that's why he looks so different, (because most of the spring bonnie suit was really damaged by the fire so he had to replace most of its parts with new ones, however, he left some of the parts that the old suit had, leaving basically the base of the suit alone but replacing some of the original springbonnie parts with new ones, like his head or his legs, that look so different now because he replaced the. That's at least what I think it happened

I've watched animatronic repair videos off and on over the past couple years and my brain wants to think of Scraptrap's "skull" as part of a plexiglass "skeleton" because of all the weirdness it has.

I love your redesign and your analysis of scraptrap's original design. I especially love that your redesign includes so many details that are intentional and meaningful to scraptrap's character and origin -- it really makes him come to life. If there are any animators/modelers out there that can make a render of ooftroop's redesign.... that would be AWESOME.

It was a better choice for scott to make someone else do the human models in security breach, gregory looks great and so does vanessa; not to mention she’s gorgeous but hey that’s another topic

Definitely agree with these points. I’m glad that Burntrap in SB looks MUCH closer to the OG and the original. It’s also really weird with how he would have been able to get this new suit.
@eggpods99952 жыл бұрын
why couldnt scott get a spring trap model and started to take more pieces of suit off because burntrap has a huge jaw with teeth and og spring trap looked like a melted gummy bear with like 7 teeth

I'm honestly impressed how William Afton's corpse in Scraptrap was kept together even though the only skeletal parts he had was his head, right arm, and left arm
@Mann_Person3 жыл бұрын
I think I have a pretty good guess on what it is. From the book series ( in The Fourth Closet mainly ), William actually made a mixture of both human and animatronic, of some sorts. He transferred himself from full on Springtrap, to a more robotic, human body, not like Scraptrap, however. More like the opposite of Scraptrap: leaning over to a more humanoid side than the robotic side. I've a feeling the same thing happened in the games, except he leaned over to a more robotic side. This is why his body looks like a mixture of bone and metal, which I think is the case. And because of this, extra flesh and organic material were also extracted on the outside, leaving those muscle-like bits on his body. What do you think? Edit: None of this excuses how god awful the skull is, however.

The "long and lanky" factor of scraptrap's design has got to be one of my favorites, he looks more mobile that way rather than the big clunky suit Springtrap has, I prefer a few of scraptraps design choices over Springtraps, and vice versa. Both great characters

"only merch companies *and MatPat* can have it" that's simultaneously hilarious and infuriating. Like scraptrap has been bumped up a bit in how much i like him simply because a high quality render of him exists but only matpat has it. leak the renders, mat!

I actually really like his design unironically, I liked the more slim approach, it looks a lot more intimidating instead of the chubby look springtrap had, while the head inside was goofy at first, I don't really see that anymore. His hand was also something I loved, Instead of the chubby looking fingers Springtrap had, he now had genuinely menacing bone claws of sorts
@tactical_ghost1993 жыл бұрын
I respect ur opinion but springtrap was always the only thing in this series that genuinely scared me, scraptrap on the other hand, just doesn’t scare me. He looks goofy
@heactuallyexists3 жыл бұрын
I actually thought that the "Bone Ears" are supposed to be in his upper cheek idk, They made the (Arguably) most scariest animatronic model into an absolute goofball sequel model.

I've had this video in my reccomended since it came out, but never watched it until now cuz I don't have strong opinions on ScrapTrap anymore. That being said, I feel pretty strongly about his design again. Scott got really close to something really cool. I think my favorite detail of this redesign (which might be unintentional) is that the mask is a lot looser, which better demonstrates that there is a face behind the animatronics. It's something we don't see a lot of in FNaF, and it's really nice when we do.

Springtrap was a masterpiece, scraptrap is a desperate bid to breathe new life into the series by rehashing one of its most popular characters, thats all it is
@xx_london_xx78073 жыл бұрын
Look I like Scraptrap, and your redesign but the transition of just little bits of flesh and a corpse head to a full skeleton has bothered me so much, the head makes sense but what about his bone fingers? Sorry it’s just I think that Scott could of toned down in the usage of bones and could of used more endo parts to show that he’s not a skeleton wearing a homemade cosplay he bought off of eBay, but a man trapped in a godforsaken robot that is still bound to him even after the fire. That’s what would of make Scraptrap hit home, sure you can change a few things about the given model but it won’t change the real meaning of this character. (Sorry for the rant, I really like your redesign and would be fine with it if it was in the game but that’s just my opinion)

I have always said that Scraptrap/Afton is a good design as it's own, but it is a bad redesign. And also, it definitely needed more polishing, but we know that Scott always tried to make things as quickly as possible, lol I really love your redesign ^^ Great video!

I remember a theory explaining the stupid corpse: Springtrap was eventually reused as a prop at the Spookfest seen on a poster in the After rare screen from Fnaf 6, and he had to be repaired, and modified to be more generically spooky, like the replacement of the mostly burnt-off real corpse with a semi-convincing fake one that was never meant to be seen underneath the mask, hence it’s manufactured, non-anatomically correct appearance and plasticy vibe. Same with the metal eyes, and the repairs in some areas, new withering in others. Just thought I might put this out there.

I love this redesign, it makes it feel more feasible in the lore. Something like Afton pulling off as much of the suit and endoskeleton as he could to break out of the animatronic prison, taking pieces off of him with it.

I honestly think that Scrap Trap would've looked better if Scott used the same base model for him as he did Spring Trap. that same thing also happened to me with molten ngl, I hated him so much and talked about his flaws so much I started to like him... then he teleported on the second night and I started hating him again
@auddragon22473 жыл бұрын
OH YO I LOVE YOUR VERSION!! I love how you made him look like more droopy, with the suit on him drooping down. It gives such a nice old aged style to him showing he's been around for some time (and has been though a lot). The added length in the ears is a nice touch, and could *definitely* boast some cool poses were the ear hovers over the eye as his head slumps down. The exposed chest with the settle heart shape was really cool! That rib cage really adds a lot. The new bottom jaw you gave him certainly fits well with the older suit modules, as they were bulkier and had clunkier jaws. However that chunkiness took some of the slender, and almost "starved" look from the original design (but it did make it more accurate). Sorry for such a long response, I just wanted the rave about your design and how cool it looked lol. Also I came to love scrap trap the same way lol, so your not alone.
