@@TheKingMgee ok so, I had this idea for one a these Fnaf fan games. I probably won't use it, but it was something that popped into my mind. Similar to Popgoes, the animatronics are all critters from my country. As for the office, it has a big front window with electric blinds (a-la Candy's 1), a vent on the left with internal shutters and a door with a broken lock on the right. The idea is that, if a robot is on the hallways outside your door, you can shine them away. Problem is, they're kinda quick, and you have to shine your light at the doorway before peeking to make sure they ain't too close. If they are, well, you can't lock the doo, so just close it, hold it shut, and pray that they stop banging on it and go away. Which they do, but the door can only take so much of a pounding before giving way. I'm thinking that you can also shine away the ones that get too close into the office by the vent, but maybe that'll just push them back enough to give you time to shut the vent grate right on their face.
@Mike142643 жыл бұрын
@@TheKingMgee as for the bots, we have the ones that tackle the left and right, the main one might get already active on night 2 and be more of a mixed bag of mechanics, a jack of most trades, to make it feel like he learns from the others and make him feel more dangerous... One, in retrospective, might be a little too similar to Blank from Candy's 1, but the thing is, it'd play more like Death Horse from Animator's Hell. Once it exits the closet right in front of your hallway window, it has its eyes set on you, and it will keep on pounding the window, even if you shut the blinds, which are only inside. So you have to flash the light and then close the blinds to make it work. And the blinds take power, so you can't just keep them shut forever. The two robots from the side stage would come from the same side, though they can take a detour through the Lounge Room to cover more ground. Since they're on the same stage, they're connected to each other, and that would play on their mechanic: one would be sensitive to sound only (which you can distract it with by turning on the TV in the Lounge Room from the control remote), and the other would be sensitive to light only. Problem is, that's random each night.

Personally, my ideal Scraptrap design would just go 100% into the "plausible demonstration of what it would look like if an adult human male was crushed and mangled inside of an anthropomorphic rabbit animatronic" direction. The FNAF3 security tapes say that the springlock suits work by compressing the internal mechanisms of the animatronics against the insides of the suit, and when the springs fail then the internals just shoot back to their original places super hard, so I'm thinking the entire character would look so much more freaky if Afton actually looked like an extremely gory workplace accident come to life. I'm talking blood _everywhere,_ pallid, half-decomposed flesh pierced with copious amounts of metal, metal rods where bones are supposed to be, angry human eyes peering through the mask's eye sockets, all that jazz. Granted, FNAF is more or less a kid's game, so Scott would obviously never go this hard on the gore, but if he did? Aside from the obvious shock value, I bet there'd be a very strong element of raw psychological terror in that you're looking at a man who has suffered a _terrible_ fate and should by all accounts be stone cold dead, except he just keeps walking, fueled by nothing but _sheer, burning hatred._ _That's_ horror. I really like your redesign, it already looks pretty damn scary if you ask me, but in my opinion absolutely nothing can beat what I've dreamed up.
@ultmateragnarok83762 жыл бұрын
I've always had this sort of design mentality, either I go hyperrealistic and all logic thought out or it makes me disappointed when I look back at it. FNaF 3 had that element of psychological horror you mention (one of my favorite types to try in games), since it was just this strange thing to see - not only was he, in those badly lit and grainy images, seemingly a quite accurate shattered corpse intertwined with a robotic mechanism twisted out of shape, but also he seemed to have been partly flayed and a sort of amalgamation of parts. However, you couldn't tell who was in control - was the animatronic doing what it might've been built to do, approaching you for reasons perhaps sinister and perhaps only unintentionally dangerous? Or was the man inside still somehow piloting it, trying to reach you for some reason, whether to plead for help or to do to you what was done to him? While it's not my favorite of the games, Springtrap was really unique and an extremely effective design and horror element at the time.
@anxietyprimev69832 жыл бұрын
@@ultmateragnarok8376 Oh hell yeah, exactly. I mean, I might've only been about 10 when FNAF3 came out, but Springtrap's design was still complete nightmare fuel, especially since I hadn't really seen that much gore before then. Even now, an entire 7 years later, I can still look back on those loading screens and know exactly what was so damn scary about them. Granted, I have to get past the surface level narm first now that I'm significantly older and I've seen all the low effort jumpscare horror I could ever want, but if you really think about it and put yourself in your size 5 elementary schooler shoes then you can let your mind fill in all the gaps like it did back when you first saw the pictures, and then it's just terrifying in general. I can't imagine a skull full of giant lightbulbs would be all that pleasant no matter how old you are.
@RPGTKingpin2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad someone else agrees with that perspective. The way I picture it, Springtrap should have been a hellish amalgam of flesh, metal and fabric. Picture it like this: The tattered suit is wrapped around a mesh-like endoskeleton that looks like the shutter doors on old fashioned elevators, serving as reinforcement for the slimmer-than-average endoskeleton that would be needed to accommodate a human being in the suit at the same time. Tattered muscle and skin hang off the collapsible edges of the endoskeleton, demonstrating that he was literally shredded and perforated all the way down to the bone when the springlocks went off, demonstrating just how terrible a fate it was. The ribcage is shattered and splintered, punching out of the chest cavity as a result of the endoskeleton being launched forward from the suit's spine when the springlocks went off. The result is a jagged maw of splintered bone that looks like the mouth of a viperfish, with the withered remains of what may have been vital organs hanging off of some of them. It basically serves as the ultimate juxtaposition of the whole "you'll get stuffed into a suit" threat of FNaF 1. The limbs have all been badly shattered and splintered, with shards that used t o be his legs sticking out at impossible angles, jamming the normal range of motion for the animatronic and forcing an awkward, rocking gait. The eyes would be bloodshot but glowing as they did in FNaF 3's version; a side effect of possession rather than any kind of animatronic. The rods that shot up through his lower and upper jaws went up into his braincase. Could even add in an extra tidbit and say that somewhere along the way the rods hit whatever controls human empathy, so now even if there was once some form of empathy or remorse in Afton in life, it's long gone now. For Scraptrap, weather the suit further, char it in places, remove a leg and arm. The leg has been fully replaced from the knee down with a normal animatronic leg, tied in place with steel cables and the suit that once covered it on its previous owner. The arm couldn't be replaced with something functional, so instead, Afton tied a shard of sheet metal off an A/C unit to his upper arm with steel cable.
@Puddor2 жыл бұрын
This is precisely why Springtrap is my favourite character. In FNAF 2 there’s an element of plausible deniability- faulty programming- but FNAF3? There’s a literal, walking corpse coming after you, burning with hate, and perhaps the desire to continue his child-killing spree (following BB’s voice).
@doomcat44652 жыл бұрын
@@Puddor William isn't consciously following the noise. The SpringBonnie programming is still intact, which "for ease of function turn and walk toward sound they hear." As someone who models in blender I (think) I know why his rips are so blocky. Scott probably made the holes in the mesh by deleting faces, then to try and smooth out the holes, just hit the subdivision surface modifier. If this is done incorrectly, however, all the holes will remain blocky (dunno how he didn’t notice tho, or perhaps he thought no one would notice). Anyways, Ty for coming to my TedTalk.

3d animation student here... this ain't just a blender problem. I work with Autodesk Maya, and results like this can also be achieved there too; extruding by FACE rather than VERTECES, and using the smoothing will still result in this. I reckon it could be due to the design being completely rushed. Then again, we known damn well how voracious the appetites of the fandom are. I personally am better with robotics and animals more than humans, but even I'm aware of proportions. Then again, humans isn't Scott's strong point as a modeler, and that's perfectly fine. Hell; even with the original Springtrap, he found an excellent way to get the design to work... is it odd that in the original one the head looks more anatomically correct???

He was scary at First simply because he was a broken down and withered animatronic, but when you find out there is a rotten body inside him, he becomes a lot more creepy. And the whole thing about springtrap was the irony of it. William, trapped forever inside of the thing that he used to kill children, and the same thing that killed HIM. He has to "live" with the fact that he is well, "trapped" inside this suit. He can't simply move on, or get better. Never seen that video, but I've been using a pretty similar idea - Afton somehow got out of the old Springtrap suit because it'd rotted too heavily to pass to begin with, and then there'd be the signs of the aftermath of the Fazbear Frights fire. Admittedly the suit he's then changing into is rottes to hell as well, but it's at least _passable._ Also taking the ridiculous scraptrap skull as the old Springtrap head essentially being flattened against Afton's head by the new one. I feel like there was a sort of style shift between FNAF 4 and Sister Location. The first 4 games seemed to go for a more grittier (whether that’s intentional can be argued) look with more rough looking textures for things like the fur of the suits or the bumpy look you can kinda see on them, as opposed to the more, sleeker(?) look of the following games with characters more commonly being made with a plastic, metallic polymer look in mind. Now that’s not to say that it’s not just a redesign, could very well just be a redesign, no one in actuality knows except Scott himself. But I feel like just putting that base Springtrap model we see in Fnaf 3, tweaking it a bit to add more damage, discolouration, etc, etc, it just wouldn’t fit amongst the other characters. It’s like putting two different art styles next to one another and trying to pass them both off as the same. Obviously, having to completely (again, it’s arguable as to whether it’s COMPLETELY but that’s neither here nor there) redesign a model of a character you’ve already created in one general tonal theme into a new one you’re working with, there will quite clearly be things that you will struggle with in keeping continuity. Scott very well could of tweaked the original model, built off of it, but I think that with this new tonal theme, he wanted to start from scratch to make it fit pretty solidly amongst the others he designed that way, and he didn’t exactly hit the spot.

I love this re-re design! It looks even better than the first one! I never thought about William escaping the original Springtrap suit before, but it makes a TON of sense--given how different both the Springtrap and Scraptrap suits are. Despite these differences, both have corpse parts in them, and are voiced by the same voice actor. Because of this, I am even more spooked. On top of being cursed with immortality and durability, now he's even more like a zombie--one that can apparently take himself apart and migrate to different animatronic suits as much as he wants. This guy won't die now matter HOW many fires it takes!

My personal explanation for the whole inconsistency between FNAF 2 Withered and FNAF 1 animatronics is that the "repurposed for a new location thing" just means that they were scrapped for parts and rebuilt with new endos and shells that used parts from the old ones. That way the spirits hang onto the parts but the design change isn't totally mindboggling

I have a theory about Aftons design which is based on illusion discs. I think that's how Mike sees him. His memory twisted how he percieves his father, since when the disc is used, it creates the illusion that depends on how you remember and imagine the character. That's why Afton has the same little details but is somehow out of shape... If you know what I mean. Our memory and imagination does strange things...

@bravecylinder932 жыл бұрын
The only thing that I think would make this version *perfect*, is for the body to have many more smaller, withered-away holes and openings in it, like Springtrap has in FNaF 3. That aspect would be kinda neat. Or atleast have it like that for an arm or leg, to show that Afton couldn’t exactly squeeze himself out of the original Spring-Bonnie suit. FNaF 3 Springtrap has much more withered/broken pieces to the suit than Pizzeria Simulator, but that’s to show that Afton could (mostly) replace his damaged parts. 9.7/10 for me, chief
@someguywhodoesstuff78773 жыл бұрын
For me, I don’t really mind the suit itself minus smoothening it a bit, I personally would just replace the majority of the bone with metal except the skull. I fell it doesn’t make sense for his suit to be held with rotting muscle and bone is ridiculous logically, springtrap’s anatomical inaccuracies being easily glossed over as its a mangled and warped corpse. I would make the head more of a skull as I’ve always thought that the red layer was his skinless muscle after the springlocks essentially flayed him, so making it closer to a skull makes more sense to me as the red parts on his head seem like the remnants of his burnt and rotted muscle, a broken skull likely being used as well since the endoskeleton likely had mechanical pieces to its head. I like your direction but the head is the only thing I’d change for the reasons I said above, you seem really good at this and hope you continue on with these skills
@ultmateragnarok83762 жыл бұрын
The concept of the springlock failure being violent enough to physically peel his skin from his head, most likely from the sections around the neck tearing the skin off and downwards, is an absolutely terrifying one. That would be unfathomably painful even compared to being full-body skewered with mechanical parts.

I like the redesign, it looks great, awesome job! However, I'm of the opinion that he really needs more bulky, mechanical elements and more gory innards. The gory insides would make him look both scarier ("scarier" is subjective though of course) and reflect how gruesome his "death" was, and making him more mechanical and bulky gives him a (imo) more intimidating presence, and it's important to exemplify the fusion between blood and metal by making it look less like a costume. Though obviously that isn't faithful to Scraptrap at all, and is basically asking for the OG Springtrap again. You made a faithful remake of Scraptrap that fixes all of his problems, and it looks sick! His more lanky body would make him a great stealth-based enemy, almost like Freddy in FNaF 1 or FNaF 3 Springtrap. Come to think of it, he would be TERRYIFYING in the setting of FNaF 4. Again, good stuff.

I realized since I started making models in Blender and such, that the blotchy stuff on Scraptrap looks like a WIP on the model. Like it was supposed to be smoothed out but the model didn't save it or something.. In fact, there's an exact tool I remember that works and looks like that when sculpting a model. Really weird how I realize stuff like that years later. I donno. But I really enjoyed both videos on your personal redesigns. The first really seemed(to me at least) like fanart of the existing design more than a redesign. The new one here looks great and definitely has more in common with the other scrapped characters. One thing that seemed off was how stringy the fur seemed, but that could've just been your sort of art style. Overall, I love your videos and watching them while I'm drawing or writing really helps me with working on character design!

If I were gonna redesign Scraptrap I think I'd take a really unpopular direction, but I'd want him to have almost no "suit" covering him, just bones and flesh and metal. Maybe his head could have a new mask mostly covering it, though. It'd give the same idea that Afton managed to get out of the Spring Bonnie suit (as best he could anyway), but just didn't want to or couldn't get a replacement. Tbh I don't really know what the benefit of putting on a new suit that's equally or more damaged as the last one is. I guess you could say it's a disguise but creepy bunny robot might actually stand out more than if he just put on some sunglasses and a trench coat. It's not like he's walking into a Wendy's or anything, probably just prowling around dumpsters and alleyways. Wait I think I just made the stitchwraith oops- Anyway, I know this would probably be over the top but if they avoided showing his full body and kept him obscured by shadow I think it'd look really cool and make him stand more from the actual animatronics. Though I may just be partial to gross/gory skeletons. I would draw a proof of concept but I'm lazy and I think if I put links in my comment KZbin will blast me into the sun. Oh good vid by the way and I love love love the new artwork/design, sorry I talk too much.

Wow, I *really* hate the idea that Afton could just... take the suit off. If he's not dead and haunting that suit then his design loses all purpose.
