I find it funny that Muta said that thing about picking up acting classes because the final conversation in the vol. 2 video has some incredible voice acting, the awkward delivery of the calls is probably intentional because it's implied that the alternates are the one calling you to go to their house and to things so they can get you too, it's why the alternate calling on one of the first videos sounds so weird and awkward. It would be fun to see a video fully analyzing every aspect of this series so far because there are so many cool details and things worth exploring, like the guy in vol 2 being named Adam and the fact that he's the baby from the mom video and he was searching for his mom

I think its important to break down the order of how alternates get you/become you. They've demonstrated that messages can be put through television and other technology, and the reason is that in the beginning they can't physically harm you. They're some unexplained kind of metaphysical being. They tell you distressing information about your own existence or learn your fears because if they can't harm you they'll get you to harm yourself. One they learn your fear they begin to manifest as you, as an alternate, so they can distress you and others around you directly, with the end goal being to get you to 'game over' yourself. For example, the guy investigation hears his friend on the radio screaming that there's someone behind him, which he takes as a joke. The radio then plays the same exact phrase again. We know by what happens later in the video that the second guy back at base isn't an alternate yet, so the disruption is just a rouse by the alternate to use the radio to scare him. It works and hes pushed to hysteria, the alternate then talks to him through the radio and the tv as an angel/intruder to tell him there's no other way out. Once you are dead, they take your place. Its kind of unknown if they inhabit your corpse or just become physical, but at that point they can then harm those around you. But we then switch POV to guy 2 and guy 1 is begging him to come. Guy 2 knows there's something wrong and gets a little worried, and the alternate proceeds to guilt trip him by saying he left his friend behind. Its hard to say when guy one got replaced by the alternate, but we know that as victims 3 and 4, neither survive, with the implication being that unlike the first case, the alternates they likely spawned are unaccounted for. I think one of the biggest things up in the air even after volume 2 is whether the religious stuff is implying they've had influence since Abrahamic times or if its just an example of the ways they play against existential fears. Considering the ongoing themes of media leading to hysteria, and the fact that they used an existing and decently know religious cartoon, I'd say the latter. Given the time frame this is supposed to take place, it seems like this intruder figure stealing all the children in the county and then presenting himself on the television is a direct commentary on the Amber Alert Hysteria that started in the 80s and 90s, where local news broadcast would report on child abductions and cause parents to tighten their protective grip and distrust in the neighborhood.

I think the alternates inhabit the recently vacated body, your corpse. Hence why the third type of Alternate have fucked up and impossible biology. Because they're inhabiting corpses, which are fucked up either due to decomposition or how the person died, hence the "Uh-oh! Bad Decision Mark!" message after Heathcliff shot himself, he visibly damaged his body when he died and the Alternate that took over now has to use Heathcliffs clearly fucked up corpse. At least that's my theory, which I heard from another reaction to the Mandela Catalogue, but it makes sense. To go into more detail, the first type of Alternate are probably either, inhabiting corpses in good condition, or as Naota Kenichi said, manifesting as you to scare you into offing yourself, and the second type is probably the Metaphysical form that can't actually harm anybody. Idk what The Intruder is tho, if it's an Alternate, it's probably an unidentified fourth type or something.
@kriegsmaschine40503 жыл бұрын
Oh my God, it would be such a great twist if alternates weren't actually demons and are just playing on religion because for many people religion is like a ship amidst the chaos of the world. If they could erode people's trust in religion, humans would be easy picking! And the scary part is it's working, not just in universe but in real life! I'm lurking in the MC discord and I never once saw anyone present this theory but it makes so much sense. Damn this was an eye opener

From what I gathered, demons are basically Alternates, and they managed to replace Jesus as well as others in the past. Abrahamic religions got corrupted from the start, and anybody seeking answers from religions, psychology, or any source where thinking can be easily influenced are prime targets (giving bad advice and "answers" to vulnerable people makes this easier). The Alternates need a person to be mentally vulnerable and open to suggestion in order to be replaced.

From what I gather. Alternates use mental manipulation to get their way. Primarily fear. If they can scare you, they win. That’s why they look either uncanny or messed up in order to strike fear into you. But if they can’t scare you, your safe. The intruder on the tv blue screened I believe because his attempts of making the victim afraid failed and it went for his friend instead, manipulating the other and getting the score it was aiming for. These things are truly a fascinating horror to learn about

@@anopirsten7565 were there any you liked? Was there one that first got you into the genre?
@anopirsten75653 жыл бұрын
@@EtamirTheDemiDeer The first one that got me into the genre was Local58 and the second one I saw was Gemini Home Entertainment. I'd say I'd be able to watch those and still like them because from what I remember I think they hold up pretty good (I know Local58 does but idk all that much about GHE cause I don't really remember). My main gripes about Analogue Horror being the poor production quality in some circumstances: like voice acting and the reality of whether something should be or shouldn't be recorded. Analogue Horror is prone to poor voice acting and poor dialogue (like the Walten Files). (Quick Tangent/Tangeant about the Walten Files. I had so much hope for the series but the voice acting is what ultimately broke me and stopped me from taking it seriously no matter how hard I tried). Analogue Horror is also prone to not knowing when something shouldn't be ""recorded"". My main example being the first discussion in the Mandela Catalogue, the phone call has no reason to be recorded and we have no reason for the guy to record himself near the house. Seen too many ARG's with Cameramen who have no reason to Cameraman which defeats the purpose of a believable ARG. (Quick Note: Don't use ARG as a term for Analogue Horror unless the Analogue Horror is an interactive game like a real ARG. I've seen people say something's an ARG just because it's a story online or something. It really doesn't matter but it's a microaggression of mine) The reasons I listed out are also why I think that Local58 and GHE hold up so well, no way to be prone to bad voice acting if you don't have voice actors and no way to be prone to unrealistic recordings if it's strictly on VHS.
