@TheCod3r, I've purchased this revision for my shop to compare components as well. To my surprise, I received one of these in for repair just weeks after release (September-November in the US?). Power supply was already dead, but as you said, the ADP-400FR is not available ANYWHERE. If anyone is wondering, you can use the ADP-400DR, it has the exact same ratings. I removed the 12V connector from the motherboard and wired up the terminals myself to allow the old PSU to fit, it was quite an interesting project!

Everyone, I'm pretty sure I know what the issues is with the liquid metal. First I'm a machinist and we deal with silver plated pins for satellites, etc. Every time the Plate company returns the pins there is a "dog boning" effect (edges of pin are a thicker than the center of the pin). So I believe this can effect every model of console. Whats happening is there probably plating the heat sink vertical which causes more nickle material to attach to one side. This would have a "mound" effect, a 0.001 or more thickness difference between one side or the other. If there not smoothing or granite stoning a smooth even thickness afterwards there will be uneven pressure between the die (APU) and the heat sink surface. Over time the liquid metal is squeezed out of the higher pressure area and spreads to the less pressured area causing a dry spot, eventually leading to a hot spot and overheating. I would love to see TheCode3r take a square edge to the heat sink and the die to see just how flat those surfaces are? My bet is the hot spot ones are not flat. This to me is going to effect the 1000, 1100, 1200, models in time. How many have uneven plating? Who knows, but there will be many that will not have uneven pressure and there will be x number of consoles that will.

@@philkasafir.PCs use different Liquid Metal, Sony is using its own that apparently it spent over a year developing. Or most likely making as cheap as possible. Plus PCs tend to have a lot more and better barriers against it leaking. Liquid Metal is also corrosive, so it can eat away on the aluminium heat spreaders. Hey man, hope you could reply on my comment. You see, we just bought this same model from playstation in dubai and it says international version, but when i opened it up it's a japanese one. The problem is it states that the power supply is only 100v 3.55A 50/60hz and we are using 220-240v outlet. So im kindly asking if the power supply that is used in this newer version supports dual voltage regardless of what is written on the console? Thanks, best of luck.

I'm currently taking some measurements on an EDM-030 board and it seems that F7002 is actually 3.3v on this revision. I'm also getting 1.98v from F7003, so i'm not sure if that is supposed to be the 1.8v rail or not, but either way i would highly recommend against swapping ICs between EDM-030 and EDM-020 without taking measurements first.

Thanks for the great video. Very detailed. Question from United States about this model console I bought Refurbished from GameStop. Shortly after buying the console it started dropping Bluetooth connectivity with the DualSense controller. I tore it down to see what could be wrong, but nothing sticks out as obvious. The Bluetooth antenna cables are both attached to the underside of the Wi-Fi & Bluetooth chip and all the way to the antenna. They are both wiggly, but attached. Do you think my problem is the cables and I should re-solder them? Or could it be the chip itself? I do have the replacement warranty on it but didn't want to waste it in something I might possibly be able fix. Should I try to fix it, it use the warranty for an exchange? Sorry for the detailed request for free assistance, but nobody knows what this problem is. It likely happened when it was Refurbished. Thank you much.

It's all good buddy, glad to help when I can. If the controllers constantly disconnect and you don't have any obstructions (I.E you have line of sight with the console) and the antennas are connected (loose is normal) I'd say return it under warranty. The IC itself is likely the cause but rather than risk damaging it or voiding the warranty I'd say get gamestop to replace it for you :)

@@TheCod3r thanks much for the reply. I took it apart and everything does seem to be okay. The antenna plugs swivel but are tightly in there. Maybe, maybe not.

Gamers Nexus found out that the ps5 memory modules stay cooler when the ps5 runs without side panels. however, this was with the 1000 model. the 1200 has fairly large openings in the case where a lot of cold air comes out once you've removed the side panels. so this lost air doesn't pass through the cooler and so would the ps5 1200 theoretically get warmer without side panels?

Ask Sony how to use it best, since this dude is clearly biast against Sony. Like it's his life's mission to take down Sony's engineering teams. They probably rejected his job aplications. Or simply don't buy PS5. For 650$ - 750$ you can build a PC of similar power IF you know what you are doing.

Are the "warranty void if removed" stickers not legal in the UK? I thought it was only that way in the US. I haven't heard updates from the EU, but 3-4 years ago they were valid. Meaning they can legally deny you warranty service if the sticker is damaged.

Hi my friend I just got the new PS five model 1200 the disc version PS five god of war Ragnarok I know my circuit board is smaller, but it works beautifully. I have not had any problems with it but I lay my PS5 on the side, like the PlayStation 4 video game console but I don’t know why Sony how to make the circuitboard so dang small but anyways I got one year with PlayStation and I got two years with Allstate from target Electronics insurance by Allstate. It covers me two years so if something goes wrong. I can get all my money back to go buy me a brand new one. I really want to go get me an older consul because I don’t know sorry my iPhone is made in China so it misspells 1,000,000,000,000% It drives me really crazy bro. I love watching your electronics fixing videos. And I always like watching Tronicsfix. You’re both my number one KZbin channels. 😂 I hope you’re doing good brother I live in the United States Phoenix, Arizona. I absolutely love my PS5 Consol. Disc God of war Ragnarok I bought mine from target store 16th St. and Camelback Phoenix, AZ 85016. If anybody lives in Phoenix, Arizona, and you need a PlayStation.5 They actually have them stocked full to the ceiling only one Consol per family so it gets rid of the scalpers. 😂

Absolutely fantastic video. Im a new subscriber and really enjoying the content, it’s so interesting and you’re obviously incredibly knowledgeable about electronics . Also great to hear a fellow West Midlands accent ☺️✊🏻 I’m really thinking about getting a PS5. I have a PS4 Pro which is great, but I’d really like to upgrade. With regards to the Liquid Metal issue, would you advise to keep the PS5 flat rather than vertical so that the Liquid Metal doesn’t drop? It would suit my setup flat tbh. Do you think the liquid metal has dropped during transit or does in only become more of a liquid once heated? Sorry, I really don’t know much about that kind of thing 👍🏻

The fact you know nothing about this makes you easy to manipulate. IF it was a huge problem,it would be well know from the beggining. The "all-knowing" KZbin engeenering community is finding PS5 pottential heating hazards from the very start. One wonders why all PS5s haven't exploded by now IF it was sooooo problematic.

@@CarlosDanielSchaper I mean there is nothing wrong in keeping it horizontal + there is warranty. + it's NOT in Sony's interest to replace milions upon millions of consoles. Corporations DO cut corners, but here I do not believe they did so. Or at the very least not to dangerous levels. According to Sony's head engineer or something for Playstation 5 project, they spent 2 years finding best way to contain Liquid Metal. Given that it has no bussiness sense to want to risk replacing so many consoles,I actually believe him.

From everything Ive seen/heard is that the 1200 models are actually the best ones. The heat sink doesn't need to be big because the system itself runs much cooler. It has a smaller chip that consumes alot less power so It doesn't get nearly as hot. Also, the airflow in the 1200 models is apparently much better.
