The two of them set up a charity in April of 22 I believe, and it lasted for less than a year (Billy has started and shut down about 3-4 businesses in total). It was called called Gowanbank Hub, and was in my area. They organized a santa's grotto for disadvantaged kids, then cancelled it over a certain virus concerns, which had been around long before then at that point. So why set up an event you know would be cancelled unless you wanted money right? Because by the time they announced the cancellation, they had already received tons and tons of donated presents for kids. Which they were called out for because they said they would send out selection boxes to the kids, not the piles of presents, just some chocolate. So yeah, really scummy of them both.

As someone who worked in an events company before (not Scotland), it was all pretty impressive what they did with what i imagine was a relatively tiny budget. Too bad they had to rent such a huge building, it really worked to their detriment 😅. Anyway, creating a convincing set is very expensive and is usually done with a brand backer that is willing to invest the money, so I'm not surprised this was a disaster. While I don't mean to victim-blame since the scammer is always the one in the wrong, and they were intentionally targeting people who tend to fall for these kind of scams, there's something to be said about taking your child to an event being promoted this way. There wasn't a single picture of the location, and the images, while I understand most FB moms won't recognize AI images, are clearly not real.
