Notes for myself Pentode and Triode. 0:40 The fundamentals. It's a saturation plugin. Saturation and Air Amount. Options along the top. Has immediate effect upon adding it on the track. Harmonic distortion. Mix control. 1:31 Pentode deals more with even order harmonics, Triode is on the third order harmonics. Both have even and third order. Pentode is first saturation part in the chain. Nothing on Pentode means nothing on Triode - need to use both of them - demo. Control the Output. Plugin off then on demo. 3:20 Sum-up. Density and Calibration 3:32 Pentode turned up. Triode adjust. Saturated type of sound. 4:09 Top controls. Mix - the saturated and non-saturated sound 4:38 Input, Density and Cal. They're important. Turn Input down, it affects harmonic distortion - you're driving less into the plugin, can drive more if you want. 5:11 Density - drives the plugin input gain harder or softer, but it affects how the sound goes out. It compensates the Gain on the Output, demo, changing Density, Output stays the same, Density control is aware of the Output setting. 6:29 Cal. Dark, Norm and Bright, they change the shape, the bump. 7:20 Affects how the sound comes out, sound demo changing the Cal settings. Saturation 7:57 Low Flat High section is off by default 8:46 Pentode and Triode are an emulation of real tubes. Pentode and Triode use 6U8A vacuum tubes, Saturation is an emulation of a 12AX7. Turn on Saturation, demo, it's really saturated. 9:57 Can turn Saturation dial to 0. It's a parallel saturation on the plugin. Can check how it sounds without saturation. 10:32 Alt Tube, a different modelling of the 12AX7, it's cranky. 11:04 Low Flat High - works when Saturation is enabled. Changing the settings, demo. 11:34 Low setting, listens to the lows - saturation will be applied on the low freqs, demo. Flat does it to the whole spectrum - saturates everything, starts to sound bright - why Cal options are important, demo. 12:17 High setting, sounds very different, more saturated on the high end. Can just use a little saturation. 12:45 Recap. Air Amount, turn it on and turn up Amount, boosts the highs. Demo with Saturation settings. Doesn't help the Air if you saturate the highs. Changing dials. A tiny boost. Vs HG-2MS 13:51 It's a 2-channel plugin. Bottom right controls. Bottom left controls. Can also do Mid or Side. Can unlink parameters, and offset them the way you want. 15:18 TMT, analogue mode. They modelled different versions of the plugin. Because it's an analogue kind of plugin the left an right are a little different. 16:18 Changing controls and seeing differences. Select different channels.

THIS video deserves 123,000 views, not that White Sea Studio guy's video who has no clue what he's doing. Thanks for this in-depth tutorial. Even though I've been using the HG-2 plugin and hardware for awhile, I learned some new things. SUBBED!

Can you use the HG-2MS in the same way you use the HG-2? If you get the HG-2MS, does that nullify the HG-2?

Also curious to know this

FYI: I just bought HG-2MS and it comes with a license for HG-2 anyway.
