I first heard this in 1971 when I was at High School at the age of 15. I love early Pink Floyd. The first album of Pink Floyd's that I bought was "A Saucerful of Secrets", that same year

Just bloody awesome. Inner space travel. The things I've experienced to this music is enough to make one question reality for ever more.!!! 😎🤔👀😯🤯

Reality? Reality's a crutch! Walk along The Narrow Way. Quicksilver Messenger Service has a lot of good instrumentals soothing to the amped awareness. Anthem of the Sun... wow!

This was their signature live tune in the early days of 1966/67 before they became recording artists at Abbey Road studios. The oldest film of them playing live, with Syd Barrett, is in the film Tonight Let's All Make Love in London (swinging sixties!). Interstellar Overdrive was basically the soundtrack to their light show (they were the first group in Britain playing to a light show) so this short recording on the album is a bit flat. Check out the live version from a few months earlier with Syd on lead guitar... kzbin.info/www/bejne/inucmGaEi8dgrbM

During this time, they were known as The Pink Floyd, by the time David Gilmour, joined they became simply Pink Floyd and dropped the The. I sure hope you react to all the non-album singles of Pink Floyd, too.

Yes, a bit removed from Dark Side or Wish You Were Here, but we're talking about the 60s and a lot of drugs. It was a growing phase.

Questi ragazzi all'epoca poco più che ventenni con un estro ed una geniale inventiva musicale raramente ritrovabile oggi.

Hey,kinda off topic, but have you ever heard of Renaissance? I think you would enjoy! Not spacey but orchestral prog rock. More like ELP, but I think you are more likely to see this here than on your older posts

Kind of everything is invented new, so leave music patterns, surrender to the moment and then find a feeling which is a space of music

The Fillmore West version of Interstellar Overdrive 1970 is worth listening to because it's 16'. I don't like the term chaos in this context; I imagine a spontaneous jamming, so that this collage-like space journey came about together. There is also a live 9' video of Stockholm 1970, implemented on film with hippie sequences à la S.B., still without D.G.; interesting compared to FW version 1970 with D.G. In terms of happenings, in the sense of "everything is allowed" - Yoko awakened John at the time - comes to me more like The Pow R Toc H and Alan's Breakfast from album AMH 1970. PS I'm always amazed and have respect from the great creative PF output: great concerts in 1970, first Dark Side Session, brilliant Pompeii film concert/also for cinema as a change and meddle promotion, briefly a few weeks the film music La Vallée/album OBC, Dark again and again occasionally ... . Brilliant: some sequences from Dark Side were already built into the concerts at that time; later on the 1975 tour already sequences under other names of Sheep and Dogs from the later album Animals 1977.

If you love prog rock you need to listen to the greatest prog band....Van Der Graaf Generator! Try Man-Erg or Lemmings from the Pawn Hearts album for a taster.

Live at Santa Monica May 1970 is an interesting slightly longer at 13:36 mins and arguably a more unique (if that's possible) live version with some interesting embellishments from Rick Wright and a wild outro from Dave Gilmour. Sound quality is fairly good though a bit down on the Fillmore West 70 recording but with imo less distortion.

I remember when I first heard this I loved that intro and then hated the rest. Well it's still not a favourite and I still love the intro by far the most but I appreciate the audio journey they take you on here.
