"I'll be good" and "I didn't even say anything" hit me so hard..... This is gonna be a bit of a long story and several alters are huddling toward the front, so sorry if it doesn't all make as much sense as I'd like. But anyway, my longest running co-host / internal partner has said things like this many times over the years, and it breaks my heart. She was our main protector for a long time but also VERY much a persecutor (destructive to the body, destructive and controlling thought patterns, strict gag orders, relationship sabotage, etc etc etc), and so we as a system felt often times that we had every right to build up stigma and prejudice and boundaries against her because of all the pain and turmoil she's caused over the years. But as we've gotten older, gone through more therapy/self-education/self-reflection, and grown leaps and bounds in system communication, I understand in hindsight that there have been times where she was trying desperately to make amends and just have a place in the system without being shunned, mistrusted, or even sometimes mistreated by other headmates. It just makes me so sad for these very misunderstood alters. Of course keeping yourself and your system as safe as possible is important and trust issues can tend to run rampant among people with lots of trauma, but let's not ever forget that ultimately everyone is capable of growth, change, and redemption. I love how Kya brought it back around in the end to make sure Mara knew she was appreciated and welcome, and even complimented her creative makeup job even though it's not personally their kind of thing and was unnerving. Baby steps like these are so important. To any persecutor or past-persecutor trying to make things right and find more common ground with your systems, we (Grace and Lilly) see you and care about you, and we acknowledge that just because your actions and intentions are complicated or born of unhealthy thought patterns or coping skills doesn't mean they're always purposefully malicious. You were made for a reason, and that is valid. No matter what role it was or how unpalatable for others, your body's brain believed that having you be part of the team was necessary, so it is. But it also doesn't have to stay the same forever. Have patience and humility with yourself and your system as roles and relationships change, keep communication open as much as possible, and just do the best with what you've got each day. One day hopefully you'll look up and realize you're not the "bad guy" anymore, you're just another valid and valued part of your system. 💜 Sorry this turned into a TedTalk lol, but thanks for reading if you did, and I hope maybe it helps some people 😊

I agree! Seraphina's whole story kind of makes me get goosebumps. The fact that Seraphina wasn't a cuddly kitten to anyone the original owner showed her to, but when Kya came by she was always by them, snuggling. And the fact that she only came into the room when Kya had just switched with Mara kind of makes me think that she knows when Kya's fronting. I feel like they're soulmates. Like in stories when a witch gets a cat that is their soulmate and they are bonded for life, that is how I feel like Kya and Seraphina are. And how Seraphina always knew just when Kya was dissociating or when they needed her, like she was a trained emotional support or service cat. And I don't think that Seraphina is trained like, not that I know of anyways. Match made by the universe for sure

I relate to that so much. From what I'm aware of about my mental health, I have undiagnosed BPD. It's a real struggle to live most days as my gender dysphoria, trust issues and anxiety all gang up on me, metaphorically punching and kicking every part of my body. I have to remind myself that I'm no longer a reflection of my own actions, but of the pain the children in my primary school put me through. There may not have been any physical damage, but the things they said cut me so deeply that I've lost almost all remnants of a personality. It's another reason why I can understand that DID forms between the ages of 7-9 - that's when the bullying started. Also, the glass bowl metaphor: a glass bowl that has been dropped and, as it shatters, you realise you have no way of putting it back together. But you're deathly afraid of buying a new glass bowl, because it won't be the same glass bowl that you always had on display in your home. So you play around with the glass pieces, trying to create *anything*, and you just put that out on display - hoping that no one notices it's not a glass bowl. Sorry I spoke for so long, I felt some of the things said in this video so deeply that I felt like I needed to leave a comment somewhere.

Negative feelings in systems aren't something you can just necessarily let go and forget and everyone will be happy again. Triggers get brought up, past anger resurfaces. Pain needs to be processed and systems need closure in order to move forward. So, as well meaning as this comment is, please remember that alters like Mara aren't negative in a way that they can easily move on from. They need a whole new way of understanding and self love and accepting the negativity in order to heal. If you just try to detach from the whole thing, you will create a larger gap. These alters need to be accepted with darkness in all.

@@friskybitzboi yeah, I just honestly relate to a lot of Mara's feelings within my own system. When my persecutors front, it's feelings of panic and mania, worst case scenarios of something going wrong. Alters like Mara are "scary" because it pushes other people away. They feel trapped and silenced because of some sort of self hate. They're the ones who are traumatized the most and deserve the most kindness in an internal framework. Kya and Mara are a part of the same body and are learning to work together. She doesn't need to be good enough or positive enough, she just deserves to heal, is what I'm saying. I know not everyone's system is as charitable and some persecutors need to not harm the system. But I trust mine with my life, they're a part of me, no matter what. A good friend of mine was recently diagnosed with DID. I've known her for several years and it all sort of makes sense now. Some of her alters knew but the main host didn't. Over the years I've talked to several alters but she lives far away so I just assumed things had changed from our times apart. She use to talk about this angel she saw that would protect her all the time from bad things, especially when she was young. but when our friendship grew the angel stopped coming around. Not long after being diagnosed we had a talk and an alter came out and introduced itself as the integrated version of the angel and another alter. She told me that when we became friends she was no longer needed. I became the person she could rely on and trust and so she and another alter ended up integrating and that's why the host didn't see her anymore and she thanked me. It was a very surreal experience for me. I've felt like I haven't done a whole lot for her since we live so far away but watching your channel (since before she was diagnosed) really helped me to understand DID and I think it made it a safe place for my friend to be open to me about it. It’s something even people like me, who don’t have DID or OSDD, can learn from. Embrace all parts of yourself, because they are all valid and worthy of embracing, but actively seek to heal the damage and to move negative toward the positive direction. @ashleywhite88882 жыл бұрын
@@trishabowes1058 our experience is as an OSDD-1b system, rather than a DID system, but this should apply here's the thing. persecutors doing what they do is just an aggressive trauma response, a singlet can be that way too. but a singlet's allowed to live their life, make their own friends, go through their own therapy, make their own vent art, have their own distractions, etc. if you just let them live their own life separate from your own with equal fronting time, or even just figure out some sort of healthy outlets for them, you'll see a lot of improvement then again the way we manage our system is very different from the medically advised and widely recognized way. while we do have cohosts as mostly a fallback for when switching out occurs for non-host system members, we attempt to make sure that nobody has a hierarchy over one another, and that DOES include persecutors being seen as equals with cohosts. this has been nothing but healthy for us because, surprise, when people are seen as people, they feel better about themselves and shove themselves into boxes of what they're seen as instead less EDIT: actually, this goes for one type of persecutor but not the other. in our experience, persecutors tend to either be based on something traumatic or based on the anger and need to lash out caused by said traumatic thing. those that are based directly on the traumatic event or person or thing are usually needing to be kept on a much closer watch because they're not equivalent to a singlet having a trauma response, they're equivalent to an abuser that you've lived through.

People need to see and accept that trauma is real, before the world can make concrete progress on stopping the things that cause it. Right now, the war in Ukraine is exposing everyone to the reality of mass trauma. But, it’s important that everyone understand trauma exists at the individual level, too, and it can be just as devastating. DID is fascinating. It's sad the circumstances in which this disorder appears, but from a cientific point of view, the brain is just amazing, we've seen Chloe who was so sweet and naive, completely unaware of how cruel the internet could be when she had only the best intentions, we saw the transition to Nin and after THE YEAR, we get to know Kya. And Kya is completely different from Nin and Chloe. Sure Kya is sweet, don't get me wrong, but that "sweet naivety" is gone, Kya is strong, open, articulate, she's able to talk about really hard subjects and push through the dissociation. That's evolution. That's visible progress. That's a survivor, right there. This system is a survivor. They are fighting since childhood til' now, and they keep coming back stronger. I hope Mara will get the chance to be part of the channel, I feel like she has much to say even if it's polarizing and some people will get offended, ppl get offended by everything these days and there's always the editing out option, the trigger warnings, but ler her speak her mind a bit, she deserves if she's holding all the trauma from that 2020 shitshow. Maybe that's the therapy and help she needs, she wants to be seen and acknowledged and whatever fall out may come from that, Kya you can handle it. I don't think 2020 will happen again, because you're not the same person you were... Literally. You are the host the system needed. I think what makes DID so hard is the fact that you kinda wear your trauma on your sleeve. Like most people have childhood trauma, but not everyone has DID the people that don’t have this disorder that is hard to control can get by without really dealing or talking about it, where as systems with DID when you say or tell someone you have DID they automatically know you’ve went through something at a young age. They might never know what you’ve been through but they know you’ve been through something and that’s enough for anyone to tell like someone knows to much. And obviously with the amnesia that’s gonna make it even more difficult for anyone to remember what caused them to develop this disorder. I used to think sure it’s difficult but would be cool. My opinion on that has completely changed. I think it’s more difficult than I did 3 years ago. Never thought about it being a super power like others but I still thought it was cool that the brain does that. Not so much now, I think I can understand how scary and difficult that could be to deal with daily. So props to anyone that has to go through this

mara has one of the most outstanding personalities as an alter herself and I feel like her and kya stand out to me the most. i don't usually comment but my fucking god her existence, and her story is so interesting? I've been researching DID thoroughly since early 2020 and only now have I been able to see like living proof of a nonhuman alter and my fucking god am I hooked. also hey mara.. by any chance you listen to girl in red? because my gawd shes gorgeous :3

In a completely non-intrusive way, we'd love to see more of Mara if she ever wishes to come more, and if you are all okay with it. She has an almost mesmerizing way to catch your attention, and her voice, her words resonate a lot with us. Anyways, keep up the good work, and more importantly : be safe and take care ! Clara

I agree on that, she could help a lot in spreading awareness on what actually goes on as their roles as persecutors / protectors because most people who don't know anything about DID could think they are just destructive (mean) parts of someone's brain.
@kalielik2 жыл бұрын
@@milkisblueberries Many and I mean MANY believe persecutors are like a villain, they're bad and they just hurt and destroy everything around them. Which is Very False. Mara can help and really show what it's actually like from the perspective of a persecutor. Like... why did I hurt that alter? Why did I hurt the body? Why do I act in harsh ways towards others? and so on. Yes, some parts of Kya did use to be a persecutor, but that was quite a long time ago. Then Mara is a different person with other opinions and ideas.
@milkisblueberries2 жыл бұрын
@@kalielik absolutely, also maybe Mara can help us learn more from the "inside" about what it intakes to be a fictive trying to become real in a very fake world. Anyway, I hope Mara will one day come back safely and show us because it's really important to learn even for actual systems now. (ps: i don't have DID, i'm just really interested in learning more about how it works)

"No Gods put me here, humans put me here" I am learning so much about DID through your system! Thank you Mara for explaining a bit about your role. Im sorry it was cut short, but hopefully we can meet you again soon! Also I love how Seraphina is SO in tune with you and your body! This is very intelligent and so sweet! I also find it very interesting your makeup MATCHES the alter who is controlling the body and if another alter switched or controlled the body with that same makeup it doesn't match quite right (i.e. Mara's makeup matches who she is, I found it helped me put a personality to her. But when Kya fronted and still had Mara's makeup on, to me didn't fit or suit her which was really interesting to see) ONE MORE THING! Thank you for acknowledging Mara in her making this video, her makeup, it was a very sweet gesture! I'm sure she wasn't expecting that and I hope she appreciated that and reaches out to you in the future!

During Kya’s explanation they talked about how they deal with the aftermath of switching. When they said that they take a moment to see what could have caused this to happen and why it might have happened I found that useful. I want to try that the next time I find myself disassociating. I think it will definitely help me stay grounded so I can keep going instead of not being able to function. Thanks a lot!! I really enjoy these videos. I learn a bunch each time I watch. No matter the video or who's fronting at the time, it always feels like I'm face-timing a friend. ☺ It leaves me with so much I wish I could say to you throughout the conversation. Kya, I feel like I still don't know you very well, but I follow the system on TikTok and am so happy to hear that posting content there is truly helping you. As a viewer, I could notice a difference but I'm so happy you have noticed as well! I'm not sure if you're the one still editing the videos, (kudos to whoever is) but thank you for leaving the footage of the conversation you had with Mara in there as well as the system disassociating. I know how both those interactions are personal and just want you to know we appreciate the system's vulnerability. :) Your system is doing so much good for the community. I know that Kya is their own person, but Nin and especially Kyle and Chole felt like friends of ours and miss them as we knew them. Being able to see parts of them in Kya gives me a sense of peace and comfort that they are still living their life, even if it isn't in the same form I met them in. I see so much of Kyle come through at 8:51- 9:03 when you're inspecting your makeup look, and the laugh at 9:02 was just so Chole with a sprinkle of Nin that filled my heart with such warmth, seeing a little snippet of an old friend. The system is so special and Im so glad that you are back confidently posting again! I've been here for a few years now and I'm just so proud of the system for the tenacity and bravery you've shown over the years and continue to show. Sending so much love and strength to Kya, and all members of the system! ❤💛❤

My family collectively calls our persecutor gollum. I’m going into psychology and I’m hoping to get a clinical psychologist job and license. My look on people is not that of a book but a painting. And it’s amazing to see different artists painting on one canvas. I’m sorry if Mara was causing stress but it’s nice in a way to see people aren’t alone with their own, darker alter. But it’s refreshing to see one like yourselves bring awareness to mental health like this. It helps me calm down and just, you know, listen. I’ve always been interested is the art/science of psychology, and I’m never going to stop trying to study and hopefully help down the line. To nudge the world more into seeking help and healthy coping mechanisms. I’ve seen trauma as a broken limb and seen ones I love walk on that leg for years before they get proper medical attention; and they have to rebreak the bone. It’s agonizing for so many, but with time they will be able to walk. Sometimes the pins will pop out and need to be screwed in again. Long rant short, thank you for encouraging me to move forward and march towards my PhD!❤
