I watched your last vlog Timothy and was captivated by the amount of shore line that has been destroyed by coastal waters. It saddens me to think of the amount of money the Gov spends on weapons and making wars around the world. It runs into the billions each year. What if the same was spent shoring up our coastline with walls to hold the land together. Can you imagine what a difference it would make. But then that's just a dream I hold close to my self in the hope that one day it will happen. Subscribed and liked.

Way too much here for me to absorb in a single session. Will get back to you with some typical irrelevance next year (which I believe is not so far away). Sent a comment already but it has been taken down again, but I’m just more determined now to make my comment 😁. Ok … it’s great the way you have captured the destruction and beauty of nature in one piece of footage, it really is a case of beauty and the beast. On the one hand you show the coastal erosion and the ugly scars it causes on the edge of the land, the power and force that nature holds to be able to inflict this, and on the other, the calm lapping ripples of a retreating tide leaving a glistening sheen of water over the sand, illuminated by the most beautiful golden sunrise …. Just another day captured perfectly showing nature doing what she does best 😊 Tell you what though, I won’t be booking the caravan with the sea view any time soon 😬 It’s been a fantastic year for your channel Davey and your videos are appreciated 👍 HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and the Wing Commander, AKA The A Team 🎉🎉🎉🍾🥂

Thank you, dear friend. It has been an absolute pleasure building the channel up, and I'm delighted that you have been there from the start. great work as always, really get the trauma the people are going through, when deemed courts can take property on land, nature takes the land the property sits on, people have beach huts at inflated cost, unique prospect to own an area of beach, land does not disapear simply changes form;

Dramatic changes in only a few months. One caravan moved thank goodness. It was close and a big chunk of cliff falling since it was there. I am trying to imagine how they move the caravans so close to the edge. A big crane but must be tricky. Well done on documenting the changes and also showing the beautiful coast and sunrise. At least the sunrise is not too early for you compared to the middle of summer when it’s not worth going to bed.

That is a huge chunk of land that has started to slump. Do you know how long it can hold on? Are we talking days weeks or months? I suppose it depends on a lot of different factors. Will see any change on your next update.

All I know is...lots changed in 4 months! We'll be checking regularly though 🫡
@Tony-tt3sc21 күн бұрын
Rewatched and paid more attention the slump from October 7th dropped a couple more meters to December 29th. So it takes months but that’s still scarily fast.

Probably money and politics...I know that the groyne stones in Mappleton were from Norway and cost around two million pounds. 😬🫣

Any geologists on this? I was wondering what East Yorkshire was "made of". From a few things I found, I gather much of what we are seeing is a consequence of a glacier. or "cycles of glaciation". If so, this will not stop until some sort of hard rock is encountered. I think. But a geologist would actually have some thoughts and not just some unfocused internet web searches. Really dramatic, and some excellent shots. Also, a Happy New Year to all.
@Tony-tt3sc20 күн бұрын
I deleted my reply because I also try to find out about this topic on the internet and I also don’t really know. Happy new year
@fjkelley477420 күн бұрын
@@Tony-tt3sc Well, we can't worry too much about that; I mean, *someone* might as well do it. In the searches, I found a "Roman map" of the area, with the communities lost to the sea indicated.
@timothystravels849220 күн бұрын
Yes you're correct, the clay cliffs are what remains after the glaciation of the last ice age. The glacial deposits, such as till and outwash, are what we're left behind as glaciers advanced and retreated. 🥸🫡
@brianwilliams992020 күн бұрын
There is at least one geological type, with indeed some thoughts, on this (ahem!). Links are not permitted here but try a search for 'East Yorkshire coastal erosion map' to get you started. You could have a look at 'East Yorkshire coastal creation - glaciations and tills' to address the 'made of' question.

Well assuming those are just holiday homes & moveable I think i would have pulled mine out of there by now if it was in those rows nearest to the edge - why wait to see how long it takes before it reaches yours? A shame but it's been happening for a long enough time now for everybody to realize their homes can't be saved. Propping up the cliff just doesn't work !
@timothystravels849220 күн бұрын
I'd have moved mine by now too 😳🫣

Yeah it needs iron girders to be driven into the shore spaced out, then concrete slabs in between each girder the back fill with a mixture of large medium and small rocks.
@regd.226318 күн бұрын
Why don't they shore it up and make it good again. If the council won't do anything to save the land take it out of their control and let the people fund it from donations.
