I'm a baby shawol from a little before dcm era and I have to say after watching this and knowing more about the members I feel a little sad not stanning them before. I am saddened that I did not recognize jonghyuns talent in particular until he had already passed. That was an interesting intro to SHINee. I felt sad watching Jonghyun looking so happy when we now know he was going through such inner turmoil. Such a great loss. I'm looking forward to Taemin finishing his military service so we can see them all back together again. He is an amazing performer as they all are. They all have such a lot of strings to their bows. Earlier this week I was so sad and I was in such a bad mood that I only wanted to cry. I really don’t know why, because I’m not familiar with Shinee at all. I’ve seen Taemin and Minho in shows etc. but that’s it. Suddenly for some reason I felt the urge to watch the sad story about Jonghyun 😭. Well I cried and cried. When my mood got better I started to watch more about Shinee and the members. I must say their voices are so beautiful. Especially Onew and also Key has this special tone in his voice. I was really surprised that I liked their music so much. I’m definitely gonna follow them more 😁.

Just remember that Jonghyun was more than a "sad story." There's so many new people who have reduced him down to his death. He was our fun, loud, and excited puppy. He was a beautiful lyricists, poet and great producer. He is still SHINee. He loved his mother and sister very much. Also keep in mind, he didn't hide his depression, he was open about it. He supported LGBTQ community. He was not religious.

My forever bias is JJong. I'm so happy. I can get back to Shinee again. Bcs i was kinda lost and can't be able to watch anything of Shinee w/o Jonghyun especially back in 2018. It was hard but thanks Taemin for his hard work. He just everywhere these past couple of years. so I'm kind of a baby kpop stan, I only got into it this year in february-march through my now ults, and since I'm only into 4th gen and a few 3rd gen groups I decided to try and get into at least one or two 2nd gen groups. now my ults, I know some of them are shawols and one of them loves taemin, and I saw this thread of shinee being extremely funny on twitter and after that I knew I had to start my 2nd gen exploration with them, and I was right cause they seem lovely. I'm really excited for taemin to finally come back so all of them can be together and I'll do my best to catch up with all the music before that happens!

Thank you for this guide, I'm just starting my journey with them, they're amazing. Can I ask you two things about credits? 1) where did you see Minho has 40 songwriting credits? In the official top 100 list(updated till October 2020) the only member I can find is Jonghyun with 79 and the last of the list has 27 credits... Why Minho isn't there? 2) for the composing credits, is there an official list or you had to count yourself? Oh and isn't Onew a main vocalist? Just saw it in other guides

Hi. Seeing as there's no reply yet from the creator of this guide, I'll try to answer your queries. 1) I don't know the source of Minho's writing credits cited here but I first learned about it when I was reading Minho's Wikipedia page. 2) Again, as I don't know Korean, I mostly know of the song credits in Wikipedia's discography section where they have tracklistings of each album. Lyricist, composers, and producers are listed there. The group positions you've seen here were the ones each member had when they debuted. Jonghyun said that there are no main vocals in SHINee. That all of them are vocalists. Also, Onew confirmed this in a recent SBS special interview that they have gone beyond this as each member sings main or lead vocal interchangeably in a given song. In addition, in a translated tweet, an Amazing Saturday cast, described SHINee members as brainiacs. That's a fact. Each of them have a Masteral Degree under their name. Even if he only wrote his rap parts, because I know for sure that some on the list are credited just for that and not for the entire songs. 2) I always watch the credits there too but I hoped there would be an official composition list as well since it would have been easier to know everyone's number of credits But I thought Taemin was just a vocalist when they debuted and the video says lead vocal. Anyway SHINee is a very talented group in terms of vocals(well not just that, but we are talking about that) so I get it's difficult to put the main, lead and sub labels on them and also it's smart and right(to me) that members sings more or less in function of how much they fit one song. It's just that I'm so used to learn the position subdivision that I expect it for all the groups.

I really wish there's also an official list of what each member contributed to the song or album aside from lyrics and music composition, like if they participated in developing the concept, creating the choreography or designing the outfits in the promotional teasers and MVs, and also MV editing and directing like Taemin did with his Criminal MV. Taemin debuted as the main dancer. He didn't even have solo lines in Replay cause his voice was so underdeveloped during that time. Taemin said in an interview that he didn't want to debut because he felt so unprepared and he thought he will be debuting with trainees the same age. He gradually became a lead vocal and then main vocal. Until Taemin dragged me into Kpop (Lol) I didn't even know about this positions in a group. But I'm so glad it doesn't really apply to SHINee cause all of them are all-rounders.

Also I think just one credits subdivision should be chosen for everybody because somebody have lyrics/music/producer and some others have lyrics/composer/arrangement. They should be more clear. Yeah I noticed he had barely any line that's why I don't get why the video says "lead vocal" if it's meant to be the debut position. Anyway Taemin had really an incredible development as a vocalist, we can hear his improvement throughout SHINee's discography and also have his solo activity and his presence in Super M as a confirmation of what he has accomplished.

@@MorePara8 1) Maybe a more accurate list exist that we don't know about cause it wasn't translated into English? 2) I agree. It would make everything much clearer for us who are interested to know these stuffs. I just learned a lot through other Shawol's comments who have been fans since the beginning and have witnessed everything. One example is the fact that Taemin is the one responsible for his song Press Your Number to have an electric guitar in the music. Yes. Also, a Shawol who frequently watched his solo concerts have commented of how much Taemin improved, in the sense that he sounded so much better live. And that comment was in 2019. Imagine his improvement now? One thing about Taemin is that he really has superb musicality. Each of his moves has a meaning to it. The reason why I think his dancing is so unique. He doesn't just go off with strong, sharp movements all the time. He goes into character and embodies the song.
