As a nursing student and a Genshin Impact player for three years, I thank you for explaining the widened aspects of the game's lore. I cannot even play consistently because of academics. And watching your videos, especially during travel time or free time keeps me updated about the events and beauty of the lore. I am invested on the Genshin's story, ost, details and aesthetics. Thank you for incorporating those in your videos. Kudos!

I have to say that pre-Fontaine / Remurian lore is my favorite so far because; The use of Biblos mythos such as the Flood, Leviathan, Jesus. The power of symphony that is a reference to Musica Universalis. The Remurian Empire basically a whole reference about their creation, rise and fall. And finally, more lore about the Primordial One, Samsara cycles, the Shades and the dark reality about Visions.
@KlemenTime10 ай бұрын
Indeed! It's adds a lot more to the main narrative of the game and it allows for more intriguing moments

This is one of the clearest videos on Remuria right now. Ancient Rome is really interesting for me so I'll love to hear more about it, and we might get more content focused on it once Petrichor arrives (which is said to contain ancient ruins, stone statues, and seals related to a certain trope).

Minor correction (and spoilers for 4.2): the claim gnoses were created from the remains of the vanquished Dragon Sovereigns is directly contradicted in Masquerade of the Guilty, both by Skirk (who states they are the remains of the third descender) and the fact the hydro gnosis still exists after the Hydro Archon's throne is destroyed (and its authority returned to the now reincarnated hydro sovereign).

Honorific mention for Ruggiero and Hauteclaire, who were originally part of the lore of Charlemagne and his 12 paladins. . Ruggiero was related to Bradamante (a female knight in service of Charlemagne). They were kind of "cursed" lovers destined to be apart no matter how much they seek each other. . And Hauteclaire was the sword of Olivier, one of Charlemagne's 12 paladins and Roland's best friend.
@swtormadness10 ай бұрын
Didn't Skirk say that Gnoses were made from the remains of the 3rd Descender? What was actually assigned to the Gnoses was Dragon Sovereign Authority which I suppose is something different than their remains, because that authority was returned when the Hydro Throne was destroyed.
@KlemenTime10 ай бұрын
Indeed! However, I have to admit I made it more confusing to viewers from what I mentioned in the video. It should've been the mastery over the elements that were assigned to the Gnoses which allows the Archons to share some of their power to worthy individuals hence the vision-holders
@swtormadness10 ай бұрын
@@KlemenTime Yep, but I think that is still also due to the 3rd Descender due to the natural properties of their body, which apparently Traveler also shares. (I seriously started fearing that some random Celestia God may want to chop us into pieces and turn us into magical trinkets next). Though I remember that Ashikai made a compelling case for Traveler having abilities similar in design to the Dragon Sovereign rather than the Archons, so there may be some dragon factor involved. Still, when it comes to Mastery, to me it's interchangeable with Authority. Furina's vision seems to confirm that the Authority plays the role in the division of power, considering the unique design.

I have a question at 1:39: didn't Skirk and Neuvillette's conversation reveal that the Gnoses were created out of the Third Descender's remains? I thought that the power of the Seven Dragon Sovereigns were instead within the divine thrones of the Archons, which was why Neuvillette was able to regain his powers back when Focalors ultimately destroyed the Hydro Archon's divine throne.

The way I see it, once the Primordial One took the 7 authorities, they assigned one of their Shades to create Egeria as the new heart of the primordial sea, replacing the previous ruling hydro dragon. Eventually humankind broke their covenant with Celestia and thus Fontaine was flooded. Either before or after this event (I believe it was after), the first Oceanid was born from one tear belonging to Egeria and later on, the Oceanids would ask to become human. That's when Egeria committed the original sin and became imprisoned. Eventually, Remus fled Sumeru and stumbled upon the ruins of the previous city. He received the prophecy from Sybylla and established Remuria. After a lot of Remurian drama, Remuria fell and Egeria is released from her prison and was given archon status, the hydro gnosis and rulership over Fontaine. She would eventually assign Focalors as her succesor and then die in the Kaenriah incident. After that, Focalors ascended, created the Furina persona and the rest is history. In my head the arrival of the second one who went to war with the primordial one must have happened during the establishment of remuria. This is because eventually they would join forces to create the 7 gnosis which then leads into Egeria receiving one. I dont see the archon war happening before Remuria.

I had a hard time learning the Fontaine lore due to growing disinterest in the game. Thank you for providing such an unbiased and concise summary of the lore so far. I know the gnosis details are a bit off but that's fine. I prefer your videos on Teyvat history over any lore channel on this video, solely because of the fact that your focus is purely the game lore itself. What happened irl and the references used are irrelevant and I absolutely hate the channels that shoehorn theory based on irl lore.

Love your storytelling. Just the right tone and pace. Btw, Remus was a Sumerian who fled his country after Red Sand King conquered his kingdom. This exile to another foreign land may be one of the reasons why he committed xenocide. There could ve been an inferiority complex behind his motive.

Sorry, I have noticed quite a few misleading moments and overreaching assumptions in the script that contravene my own understanding. Aren't the Gnosis' the remains of the 3rd descender? So then they're not the remains of the 7 dragons. I think it's more likely the 3rd descender was like us and attuned to every element, and their death resulted in the creation of them. Or perhaps after the Archon war there were no Archons left, and the 3rd descender sacrificed themselves to make 7 new gnosis.

Was remus really deranged? He thought that by creating ichor and golemn bodies his people can choose their own fate. And golden ichor can be controlled by a symphony which was the Grand Symphony which remus controlled because the people dont know how to control their own destinies. but then the ichor or symphony was corrupted by people's wishes of killing the barbarians, which then created Phobos, algamation the people's wishes. Which also corrupted Boethius because he had Ichor. And Scylla was remus' friend. Remus wasnt half as bad like how this video make it out to be imo

As a long time fan of channels such as Kings and Generals, EpicHistoryTV and Invictus, this video felt like I just sat down to a video about Rome itself in their distinctive style which is felt further by the the inspiration of Remuria from Roman history and legend, especially the Roman Kingdom era.
