Maybe instead of a football they can use a balloon. Instead of helmets just wear tin foil hats, and instead of shoulder pads they can wear bras, and instead of tackling they can just tickle each other 😂. They really are trying to just destroy the entire game. I get safety is important but at the same time these guys make millions and millions because of how dangerous the game can be.

Plenty of things that are allowed are dirty. Back in my day, we were allowed to do all the things they've taken out already, and everyone knew that they were dangerous and arguably dirty tactics. I didn't have to hit the qb in the upper shoulder area to maximize the face plant potential, but I did. Every time. Even though I knew they'd be going for a ride in that ambulance over there. That was the game. Was it dirty? I didn't think so at the time, but my best friend is still resentful that I separated his shoulder in practice because you had to watch out for that. Anyway, the game is better with fewer techniques that are known to knock a few mfs out with cold-hearted indifference. Boxing was more popular than football at the time, so concussions from clean contact were coaching points in film sessions.

It's not a dirty problem, it's a tackle at all costs problem. Tights ends are huge and hard to get down. By putting all your weight on them you slow them down and make it hard to keep running. This is similar to the "you can't hit the QB in the legs rule", but this rule does not exist for receivers. It should probably be addressed but that is not easy.

The NFL needs to create a video similar to what the Rugby league did. If you look up "What is and isn't a HIP DROP tackle | NRL explainer | 2023", you can see quite a few examples of what is and isn't a HIP DROP tackle. They should also make it reviewable by the upstairs crew similar to what the NCAA does with the "targeting" rule. They should not fine the players the first couple of years, but they need to disqualify him similar to what the NCAA does. This way the team is insentivisied to teach the correct technique.

It's complicated because, yes, it's the kind of tackle that can very easily lead to an ankle or a knee injury. But at the same time, what is Logan Wilson really supposed to do when he's trying to come from behind or from the side and take down someone as elusive as Lamar Jackson or someone as big as Mark Andrews? Injuries suck and we all know it, but I find it hard to be mad at Logan Wilson since it seems like he's just trying to do his job, just like everyone else on the field is. If they do outlaw this kind of tackle, I think defenders are gonna have a pretty tough time adjusting to whatever new rule they might put in place.

They tackle how they learned in HS and College. It can be coached tho, check out the art of the rugby chase down tackle. Most of the tacklers don't lose their feet, they wrap and keep driving their feet. But they're usually hitting the ball carrier at an angle
@zachrichardson5581
@zachrichardson5581 7 ай бұрын
It's not dirty but it is clearly dangerous. The NFL will eventually rule on this in some way. In that situation you should tackle the ball carrier's legs instead of their waist. Keep your body weight from falling forward on the legs. The "dead weight" thing Ryan said is actually a good way to look at it except you just need to change your target area of where you're grabbing.

It doesn't have to be all or nothing if this tackle gets banned. Maybe come up with a better one? Or maybe the player just needs to be better skilled and more talented instead of resorting to only one style. NFL needs to change rules that if the defensive player is within 5 yards from receiver after they catch the ball, the play is dead. No needs to touch players no more. Let’s just see which ever team score up to 100 points win the game.

I don’t know if it’s a dirty tackle but it is a style of tackling that should not taught at the youth level and beyond. Totally understand a defender has to be able to tackle guys but the downside of this style certainly seems to suggest the game would benefit if it was no longer allowed.

I was a fan of RC when he was on the Steelers, but in todays game he would get called for unnecessary roughness every other week so I’m not listening to him 🤣 there’s been multiple times a player has had to tackle a player from behind. Not all tackles from behind are hip drops so how aren’t there other ways to get someone to the ground RC?

How many players have gotten hurt like this ? It can’t be all coincidence , can it ? He could’ve thrown his weight towards the ground next to him or even fall back to pull mark back . Instead he dropped onto the man’s legs . 240 pound guy going dead on your legs while pulling your back ? Easy broken ankle or knee . I’ve done security for 8 years . It’s not the same as football but I know a lot about takedowns and how to use your weight to bring down an opponent.

If the point of tackling is to bring someone down and stop them from advancing any further, how does making a tackler “run their feet” to tackle somebody make any sense? Anyone who has played football knows that when you are tackling someone twice if not three times your size you are absolutely going to hang on for DEAR LIFE and try anything possible to bring that big boy down 😂 this is true at any lvl of football, now imagine you only have a split second to bring down a Professional football athlete that is 250+lbs running full speed at you! Injuries absolutely suck but it is literally part of the game.

If a guy is tackled flags will fly just like now on third down if the big time QBs throw an incomplete pass flags fly and it’s defensive holding, illegal contact or PI. Automatic first down. The league is more sport entertainment than competition at this point…

Bart Scott says "the tackle is dirty, but it wasn't intentional". It can't be one or the other. If the tackle was dirty, it was intentional because for the play to be considered "dirty" the player would have to be doing a purposeful "dirty" tactic intentionally. Scott drives me crazy by running his mouth before thinking. He does it ALL the time.

For real!!! Why not just make it flag or two hand touch. People calling Logan’s tackles dirty are so freaking soft!!! I can’t stand Bart Scott but, First Take is entertainment and He’s just reading the script. He played LB he knows the job is to get the offensive player down as fast as possible.

He still dropped his weight, he also was sliding on one knee and exploding into a wrap up when he grabbed Mark and actually dropped the rest of his weight. It sucks, but it happens. Bring back clapping receivers across the middle and you wont have this problem 😂.

The fact he did it twice against the best offensive players of that team is not by coincidence, you can tell he slides his body sideways when dropping his weight to pin the ankles down,.there were plenty of tackles by his teammates in that game where they tackle by the hip but didn't do what Logan Wilson does. Straight up dirty player Wilson following the legacy of 55 Vontaze Burfict
