When George Washington died on December 14, 1799, the nation mourned the loss of its first President and the heroic general of the American Revolution, but one man didn't accept the President’s death. Instead of waiting for a divine presidential resurrection, Dr. William Thornton came up with his own plan to bring George Washington back to life.

Well, I’m just amazed at how close Thornton was to what would have been necessary. Air and blood. He just didn’t understand how to put it together and the short timeline. Oxygen, ventilation, circulation...but all provided as close to the time of death as possible. Every minute that passes GREATLY reduces the chances for success. He was very close to figuring out the basics of what would become CPR.

Hes not the only doctor who accidentally killed a President. Benjamin Harrison who was already sick died after a botched gangrene operation he used the tired old method of blood letting. The blood letting, of course , led to an infection that ultimately killed Harrison.

@@dylanmcshane9976 maybe I didn't explain it right. Dogs can have as many transfusions as they need (or as their owners want to push for and pay for). After their first, however, it HAS to be their blood type.
