I have a 36mm black bay in steel and gold with the black dial, now discontinued. the subtle brushed gold finish on it makes it my favorite two tone watch. I do love this day date too though! good presentation

36 mm subtle & functional elegance ... a gentleman's watch wear it in good health ! Produced from 1969 onwards, as Tudor introduced the Shield logo replacing the Tudor Rose, these Oyster Prince Date+Day came in both 36 mm and 37,5 mm Jumbo, the largest TUDOR watches in the Prince line.

I have an older version of this watch on an aftermarket leather strap. It has a plexiglass crystal, but I really like this watch. I have always wanted a Rolex Day Date, but this is probably as close as I am going to get.

Great watch. My suggestion to secure one of these would be to opt for the slightly earlier version. These had a Rolex signed crown and caseback. They are still pretty available and affordable, which I think is odd considering how much of an oddity they are. You won’t see anything like that again from the Rolex/Tudor family.

Very good to see goals being achieved and the cooperation in the community of watch enthusiasts. That style is amazing and highly versatile, and the brand is excellent of course. Regarding the gold, although i agree on its softness i couldn't avoid remember the diver Bret Gilliam, whose pure gold Submariner was mentioned in Hodinkee. The man was savage with his watch, using it tru to its original function as a diving tool - despite the precious metal; it was even damaged by a shark.

I have often thought about finding a Tudor Prince like that. So much better than the Style or Glamour lines and a better size than the Royal at 38mm plus you get the cyclops which is a bonus for my aging eyes. Fantastic watch, Tim.

Great watch, I have one of these with the white dial and gold romans. Picked it up about a year ago - old new stock from a HK seller. This is my favourite watch and I'm never going to sell it. I think it really stands on its own feet despite obvious comparisons to the datejust/day date, given you can get configurations in this watch that you can't get with rolex. The serviceability of the ETA is excellent too. Enjoy the watch.

I have the salmon version of that exact same dial with white gold bezel and that steel bracelet w/o the gold. I love this watch! There no way I am spending 30k on a Rolex day date (if I ever do, it will be the green dial with gold romans - love that watch.

I have this exact watch. It's a beauty and still available to buy in the far east, brand new. Mine is a fully refurbished 1997 model. Which means it has the rolex motif on the case, crown etc - Never need another watch, its that good. Folded jubilee bracelet in the old rolex style unfortunately but very comfortable and lightweight

Funny you post this video today, I just bought mine yesterday on C24. Exact same configuration than yours except I went for romans. Exceptional piece, all the best from vintage Datejusts + a day complication which like you said is only reserved to precious metal pieces at Rolex side. Not only you don't need full gold for the softness of it but also for its weight. It's even worse with platinum. Even the bracelet is better engineered and will avoid too much stretch since articulations of the links are made of SS instead of hollowed gold links on the DJ. Great review, great video :)

I adore it CBTim. One of my favourite watch designs. Ever. A surprising amount of presence too. I have a Ricoh Dynamic, which is a vintage day-date copy and even on my 7.75” wrist it wears fine. I really think I need to consider buying myself one of these. A not unrealistic goal if I’m patient and dedicated. Congratulations Tim. I love it and it’s very ‘you’. Edit: I have a thing for the vintage style, light weight bracelets and clasps too. I buy them from Strapsco. May not be the newest tech, but comfort wise? I love a bit of jingle-jangle!!

The Date Day is still in production and has been for the past 40+ years. There are some 20+ variants to this model and listed on Tudor's website for the Asia region. Since 2020 these models run-on on the T603 movement (base Sellita).

I have the all steel version with silver dial...I love the watch, what still really bugs me is, that Tudor castrated the lug tips compared to the Rolex version of this case. They cut the very ends off...makes the case a bit more stubby and less elegant than its Rolex siblings. Older variants of this watch didn't have that thou.
