I recently bought a Hamilton from this guy online but decided to pick up the watch in person since he stayed nearby. I had a short transaction in mind, but the moment we met and started talking watches, an hour had gone by and I hadn't even noticed. Meeting watch geeks in person is just a pleasure and a privilege of its own dimension!

Wow, I never really ever noticed this watch before. I think I kinda love it. I've been looking at so many Datejust lately trying to find one to fit my budget, but they all seemed to be very highly priced, especially the good ones. This one I think would suit me really well, I'm so glad I found your video. It's so beautiful, and the strap you have it on is absolutely gorgeous, too. Also, I was so moved by the way you talked about Trevor and how appreciative you were to be able to have that experience with him. More than the watch, it was the experience you shared that I connected with most. Brilliant watch, brilliant story, brilliant video. Thank you for sharing, and be blessed always.

Good for you....both of you. I truly love stories like this, and I'm so glad that you shared it. With all of the problems of the world today, and all of the negativity that we are inundated with on a daily basis, stories like this, renew my faith in humanity. It reminds me, that there are still good people in this world of chaos, in which we live in. Something as simple as a watch purchase, has the ability to develop a bond between 2 like-minded individuals, that may potentially last a lifetime. Maybe there's hope for us after all.... Cheers Peter

Well said. One of *the* best facets of this hobby is stories like this one. Spotting a 'fellow traveller', saying 'nice watch' and finding yourself chatting all things watches with a perfect stranger as you wait for your coffee or ride an elevator. It's akin to running into someone from your home town in a foreign metropolis!, an instant connection, an instant short-hand in your communication and, for me anyway, an instant little jolt of happiness in an otherwise routine day. Honestly, it's a great feeling!

Congratulations Pete. As you often say, this hobby of ours is a healthy one. I think the story within this upload highlights that. Great purchase too! One of my favourite timepieces - full stop. Don’t get me wrong, if I could afford it, I’d take a vintage yellow gold Rolex Day-Date over a Tudor - but the Tudor Date-Day *is* available in a 'Jumbo' (or 39mm) size *and* being stainless steel, it's eminently more practical, more wearable. Unfortunately, my finances don't even allow me the Tudor! But I do have a Ricoh Dynamic. I know that you're not a fan of homage watches, but I (with some caveats) don't have an issue with them. My Ricoh is a 36mm gold-plated copy of the 1st Rolex Day-Date - the one with alpha hands. And I love it. Even on my ~ 8" wrist it wears a treat and has a *heap* of presence for its size. I wear it on an almost identical strap, in an ox-blood red, but I don't wear it often (inspired by your review I am wearing it now!). Great upload Pete. I've been on a break from my socials since mid Dec. and it was great to find this atop my feed when I logged back in today. Cheers bud, and once more; congratulations on the new purchases. ✌🏼️

This illustrates what another KZbinr (John P) has mentioned: it's not a good idea for the novice to get into real vintage watches; he's just not going to have the requisite experience or expertise. But a more recent model (2005) - there's a safe bet. As it happens, your sample looks like it just rolled out the factory door. This week alone, a wonderful woman with an LV with that interesting ‘dive’ case and diamond LV/black dial, a vintage Rolex Pepsi, a vintage 35 years daily wear gold Seiko Sports 100, and an Ares on a Navy watch enthusiasts wrist. @brendanfisher3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter. That was a great video, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Tudor Prince Date+Day is a beautiful watch. I have had my eye on it for a few months now in the same dial colour you have. They seem hard to come by, even on Chrono24. Is that model now discontinued? I want to ask your opinion/advice on something? Is this Tudor a good compromise for someone who lusts after a Rolex Datejust 36, but can't justify the additional expenditure? Will it scratch that itch?
@PeterKotsa3 жыл бұрын
It depends, if you are after a ROLEX, then everything else will be a band-aid for you. As for this watch scratching that itch..its got all of the DNA without the high price tag of precious metals (albeit it does have a solid white gold fluted bezel) Can I justify the price difference..for me NO, for you, you have to make that choice. I purchased a Rolex OP last year in 36mm and a standalone its a great watch. Did I buy it because its a "Rolex"?..no..I got it because its a nice watch that I had my eye on At the end of the day, its up to you 👍
@axwell9552 жыл бұрын
Whats the ref… can’t find it. What prices do they go? Thx
@brendanfisher2 жыл бұрын
@@axwell955 I believe the model Peter has in this video is the 2005 Tudor Prince Date-Day ref 76214. They are currently going for approximately 3500GBP with box and papers on the usual big online marketplaces, which is a huge increase compared to last year. It's a beautiful watch and it certainly seems to be more rare than a Rolex Datejust. The problem for me has always been if you have 3500GBP to spend on a Tudor, you're almost in Rolex territory so why not go the extra mile.
