It was exactly that entrance underneath the old 6th street bridge before it got demolished. It is illegal, but people take risks.

I once knew a person who gave up playing video games (despite still wanting to be a CGI animator, though she later seemed apprehensive about even that) and also was anti-colonialism and anti-American, and felt the LA river was a perfect metaphor for cultural appropriation (it was a "beautiful natural river before white people poured cement on it", much like how White people took funk, sterilized it, and called it "80s music".) Something tells me she used to drive around in the LA river all the time in GTA V lol. Not sure I'd want to drive in it in real life tho.
