Hi Tom i just want to comment on your description of the work you and the guys are doing ! You very clearly explain the whole process which is Kudo's to you !! Keep on keeping on !! Love your channel and learn so much from you about concrete ! ( just a FYI i worked in a cement plant for 30 years) Was a crane operator , Electrician , instrument repairman, Electrical supervisor and Production supervisor. I ended up before retiring setting up the SAP software system for the plant maintenance of the whole chain of plants. As I listen to you and watch how you manage your crew you have a winning way of dealing with everything you tackle !!! Keep up the Great work and videos, just so you know i found you after watching Outdoors with the Morgans. Just thought it would nice to let you know that FYI :) Thanks again John

You men done an excellent job there. A lot of folks don't realize how much work and effort goes into a small project such as this. Nor realize how small or non-existent the profit margin is in little jobs like these. Might recommend to the homeowner to paint that tapered riser a contrasting color to make folks aware there is a possible trip hazard I am always astounded at the high level of quality y'all consistently turn out.

Terrific replacement project. The curves were perfection! It looks so clean underneath, again perfect! There's a downside, though - the cracked up driveway looks worse now with the new, perfect concrete next to it. Good job, guys. Nice video, Tom. Thanks for sharing.👍❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸

Tommy, your team's attention to detail is why you are excellent at your craft.

As in every trade, or at least it should, attention to detail is what makes a good job a great job. A mediocre job into a lousy job. If you can't do it right, then do something else😊

Seeing that rusted out decking reminded me of the garage fiasco last year---yeowch😱😱😱😱😱. In all honestly I was thinking quite a bit more for a new mixer. Good thing I don't own a mixing plant 😊😊

That was a tuff call.. but you can only work with what angles you have available. Yes is a toe stub but it can not be helped 🤷🏻♂️ Looks really really nice job. Wonder how a shale stone pattern on the steps would of looked against the brick 🤔

How did the old decking get wet and rust out? Was there condensation from below, or inflltration through the surface?
@alfredomarotta66047 ай бұрын
Nice a not too small job😊. As always great job 👍👍 ....Might be a bad cracked "flag" (section) in the driveway replacement in the future, if it was my house and their money$...I would've cut a section across, (the size of the steps) the concrete would've matched the stairs nicely, like if it was planned. No ?😊

Surprised at this one. Most localities now require doors to "walk out" onto a surface the same height as the door to eliminate the trip hazard. You could have easily added 2-3 more steps to accommodate the chance in elevation. I'm sure you did what the owner wanted, but shouldn't you inform them of these requirements? Just a curious question .....
@Treehandler7 ай бұрын
This is likely considered as a repair and not new construction so if there was a rule it likely wouldn’t apply here. There would also be added cost to install a railing if there were more steps so I’ll write this one up as the Hauses got this one right and the property owner will be thrilled

In our area, our code is one step down onto a 3’ minimum surface. Thanks for watching!
@mudbunny63887 ай бұрын
We were always allowed one threshold step and at least a three foot landing below that on all exterior entrances. We were also allowed just steps from a garage floor to other entrance but only in garages. Maybe state by state variation.
@stephengmeiner32647 ай бұрын
It’s my understanding in northern locations that you have to have a step down to allow for snow. Otherwise the snow will block the storm door from opening.
@mudbunny63887 ай бұрын
I was a contractor in Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, and North Dakota, and all those states allowed a threshold step. I don't know their reasoning, but I'd have to guess because of snow and ice.
