Orangutans face extinction in the wild within the next 5-10 years.

I cannot comprehend the reasoning behind the destruction And persecution of these magnificent creatures and their habitat. The Indonesian government in a recent TV programme - Panorama in UK, stated they are planting trees to replace the rainforest! So if they have land to plant more trees, why can't they use that for the rotten Palm Oil plantations and leave the forest alone? Anyone else out of the 2,956 viewers got any comments?
