@ weekend was Good ! But I hear you we just got our first snow here in Pittsburgh so winter is getting real. It’s been mild until now so it was a shock even living here. I picked up a SS vector lite in blackland s Black Friday sale so we’ll see how that goes soon. I also got the reg plate. Had a nice smooth shave with the Henson Med today.

I really enjoy the history lesson on the razor origins. It is fascinating. I have a Brookes & Crookes razor, and it is a fantastic quality blade; probably the heaviest razor I have. When you get to know the feeling of how the bevel feels when it is done, it is reassuring that your making progress. That was disheartening about selling your razor. But I think reputation as a seller accounts for what people will spend. I wish you the best and that you are in good health. Thank you for sharing.

The name Crooks always tickles me but by all accounts they did make great razors as you can testify. I was really chuffed to have honed this razor without my loupe. I was actually very pleasantly surprised. Selling my razor was a little disheartening but I have learned just how much such a razor with some etching will actually sell for. I'll know for next time, because I wasn't sure of its worth; perhaps this is the downside of looking for cheap razors on eBay. All the best, mate.

Hi Mark. I found your history of this razor very interesting. It must feel good to use such an old piece of shaving kit. I don't have any straight razors in my collection. The nearest I have is a Parker "shavette" style razor which can take a disposable blade. Even that has caused me some damage and loss of blood! That said, I'd like to have a go with it again sometime. I've watched your technique and hopefully I can finally master this razor. The story about selling a razor and being disappointed with the outcome of the auction is something I know too well. I've sold things on eBay and been a bit miffed at the selling fees and postage I had to pay. Ah well, at least these things hopefully go to a good home.

Hi David. I tried one of those Parker razors shavette's, that you mentioned, and I have to tell you that I found it an awful razor to use. I wish you luck with your next try. I do enjoy being able to find out a little bit of history about a razor, or it's production. It seems to make it much more than just any old razor, if you know what I mean.

nice straight razor my friend. and a bargain at that price . bbs with a straight is possible but for me it’s more about that shave itself if i get a bbs it’s all gravy but if i dont i know i will enjoy the shave . double edge is good but nothing quite like a straight razor shave

I use eBay, and I bid (won) on a Stirling soap Bay Laurel 4oz and I was pleased with that. Just be careful on overseas delivery's Mark because I had to pay custom charges that I bought a gift for my mum Christmas that was over £135 but the seller who owns a furniture shop in Germany got eBay to refund that I paid Parcel Force 😊

Ah, yes those custom charges are the devil Scott! I will be looking out for them over Christmas. I was ordering from a website, in the US, last week buying some razor scales and thing like that. Everything would have gone into a small padded envelope. I spent $100 but once I got to the checkout the postage was an additional $45. Now I now there are cheaper options than that, so that was the end of my purchase. I have noticed this last week I have had a ton of dodgy emails and the offers on Facebook all seem to be scams, or if not actual scams then for items that are very, very expensive. Just be careful of those too mate. Keep safe. I flipping hate scammers!

.99p staring price is a flawed hypothesis Mark, when I sale stuff I price close to the final price I want! It seems to work. If that shops selling for £115 then you should have got at least £80

It certainly was a flawed hypothesis, Nick. I have learned a lesson and realised that the razor was actually worth more than I thought. I have two more coming in, in nice condition that with a mild buff and a sharpened edge should be worth about the same, maybe a little more. Thank you for your thoughts and good advice.
