I was on the fence about this unit. Home Depot had the kit on sale for $179, but I ended up getting the Husky 8 gallon hot dog compressor kit for $112. It's worked alright so far, and since I don't have a Gator or anything like that, it's much easier to roll this thing around the barnyard than I imagine it would be lugging the pancake compressor around. Runs a narrow crown stapler for a LONG time before it needs another charge, too. I've had my Leatherman super tool 300 for about 9 years now. Everybody in the Marines used a Gerber, but I've just always preferred Leatherman. They last forever as long as you don't lose them.👍 Good video!

DeWalt makes good tools. I recently bought a pancake compressor and instructions said to running it for 30 minutes with the drain wide open to break it in. I agree the porter cable looked pretty flimsy and I ended up getting the rigid brand because of the warranty and how well it looked. Great review

LOL!!! "don't like porter cable" .... This compressor has many colors and labels, Bostitch. Craftsman, Porter cable, Dewalt (Dewalt bumped it up to 165 PSI) - I bought the Bostitch one, it even had the same packaging!

Hello...! I have watched several videos and have noticed that the drain valve is not exactly in the full center of the base of the tank. So... how is it possible to guarantee that the tank is 100% drained without tilting it towards the drain valve? Thank you!

What's the maximum output pressure? and did you notice the 'cut in' pressure, is it like 140psi or something? None of the specs mention it, it cuts out at 165psi I assume.

I'll be interested in the longevity of it. I've had a couple of oilless compressors and they never last long. just too much friction for the piston rings.

One question. It has a regulator gauge on it. My question is, is if they tank can only hold 165 psi, how come the regulator gauge can measure or has numbers on the gauge that go higher than 165 psi? Will the knob by the gauges allow you to adjust more than 165 psi? I wouldn't think that it would.
@StoneyRidgeFarmer
@StoneyRidgeFarmer 4 жыл бұрын
man...I don't know about all that....the compressor is rated at 165psi....I do believe..but it's small..not like you can use it to run a paint gun or something...it will typically fill 2 car tires and will run a nail gun but not really rapidly firing it like a roofer...I'm still very happy with it

tire inflation is the lighted duty task, why not show us how many lug nuts will it undo on a truck wheel if you use it continuously. Can it take off all 6 lug nuts or just 5 or just 4 before the pressure is too low.???

Did it work OK? I’m about to pull the trigger on one. It will be for very ocasional use: pumping a tire, loosening a tire from a tractor or blowing the baler. Is it up to the task? Does the tank hold the pressure? Any leaks so far?

Carl, I don't mean to come across as a "smart a**" but think about what you are asking. All appliances that are designed to operate on 115/120 volts AC in the USA cannot exceed 15 amps of current. Why would anyone manufacture an appliance that operate at these voltages and wish to sell in the US that exceeds the 15 amp threshold?
@ArkansasPilgrim
@ArkansasPilgrim 6 жыл бұрын
@Carl and Co Rin - Startup amperage will exceed 15 amps on equipment that runs at 15 amps steady-state. This shouldn't cause a problem, but if it's plugged into a GFIC outlet, it might. GFICs are a pain. Electricians will defend them, because they get to sell more wire, but I don't see the need for them.

*After years of hauling around a large,💫 **allabout.wiki/PORTER** heavy, loud dewalt air compressor (that ironically was advertised as quiet, supposedly 78dB), I bought this. Facepalm. While it is not ‘silent’, I find myself chuckling every time I use it, sparing all my neighbors the terror of my former compressor. I use for inflating tires, impact wrench, finish nailers. Absolutely love it. And I store it under the garage sink in a 24” cabinet. I paired with a coil 1/2”, instead of a my former 50’ 5/8” hose that I had to lug across the yard from the shed, unpleasantly uncoil.... this little guy is light and portable; just a joy. Impact wrench is still capable of easing lug bolts, flywheel bolts, crank pulleys... just allow for a tiny bit of recovery now and then.*

A pancake compressor is for low-flow equipment, like nail guns. With such a small tank, it doesn't take much to make the pressure drop. Nothing wrong with using it to air up tires, but watch the duty cycle. As always, love your videos,. Keep 'em comin'.

Im a noob when it comes to air compressor, so If someone can answer the following, thanks. Once the unit if up to 165psi and the tank is full of air. Could I unplug it and use it? Say take it somewhere where I have no access to electricity? I know that as the Tank/psi empties naturally it would turn on and refill if connected, but I wanted to know could I just use the air already in it b without being connected. Thx
